  1. That particular crank is a Zoom Wobbler - - discontinued and very hard to find.
  2. They don't work......I'll give ya $10 for it - just because it's New Year's and all...
  3. Buckeye Lake Cranks Try BubbaJack's tackle for the Zoom stuff. http://www.bubbajackstackle.com/WEC_crank_baits.htm

  5. I've used the following: Cordell Super Spot Rat-L-Trap XCalibur XR50 Rattlin' Rapala Lucky Craft LV500 Max and LV-O Jackall TN-70 Shimano Undulator and Baby Undulator Duel Aile Magnet Yo-Zuri Rattlin' Vibe and 3D Vibe Mamiya-OP Hunting Vib Jr. Ever Green Buzzer Beater Strike King Diamond Shad Air Viper Risebacker Spro Aruku Shad Shimano Scorpion Vib BPS Rattlin' Shad and prev. version Rattlin' Shad Smith Wiggy Team Daiwa Vibration Custom Lures Unlimited - Helix and Vortex If I could only use a handful from that list, it would be: Cotton Cordell Super Spot Air Viper Risebacker (soundless or sound-lo) Shimano Undulator Jackall TN-70 The Super Spot is one of the most versatile baits around - and it hangs with the best of them - - and it's cheap...bonus! ;D Some vibes are more specialized than others (like the LV-O, Smith Wiggy) so certain situations dictate which one I prefer at the time.
  6. I should have been more specific.........a flatsided "finesse" crank. Think - (You know what I'm sayin' here, T-Rig.... )
  7. When Rapala comes out with a shallow flatsided crank, I'll be the first in line to try it......but until then, there are a LOT of crankbaits in my box that Rapala can't touch for that gig.
  8. That lure looks pretty good for being an old discontinued lure. Have you caught even 5 fish on it? I mean I see how the trebles are rusting, but the body of it is in perfect condition. I'm guessing you don't fish it too much, or have not really caught anything on it. Bummer dude. :-? :-? :-? I take pictures of baits like this when I get them (before they're scarred up). This bait wasn't new when I got it - had rusted hooks when it arrived. But don't worry.....I've caught more than 5 fish on it. I don't usually recommend lures I don't have some experience with....dude.
  9. Spent some more time throwing this bait and comparing it to my other good flatsides. I must say, so far, I'm not really too impressed with the bait. If a nice plastic flatside is on the menu, I much prefer the OSP HPF Spec 2.....it is a lot more buoyant and lively.
  10. I have a US Shad - - - they aren't copies of anything. Very good, subtle finesse crank. Smallies like em' too...
  11. Marty definitely has a knack for color selection......I think this is beautiful!!

Haven't tried one of those yet, T-Rig.......it kind of reminds me of the Duel Aile Magnet......good little vibes. The price is certainly good - -- I may have to try one of those out. 90 mm is a pretty big vibe.
  13. I lost 1 crankbait all last year - - - you MUST learn how to use a good lure retriever or you'll go insane...
  14. I got one of those about a month ago, but I haven't spent much time with it yet.....the only thing I'm worried about would be a lack of buoyancy...but I'll report as soon as get some experience with it. Take a look at this T-Rig.....they're as beautiful in the water as they are out of it....
  15. Is that a Nories Worming Crank in the upper left hand corner?
  16. Just about everything.......obviously not matted veggies or the like. Sloppy stuff is hard to work crankbaits around.
  17. The Deep-X 200 is righteous.....it is fairly diminutive with a tight rolling action that looks very natural in clear water -- - but you can cast them A MILE! I dig em'
  18. Flatsided cranks like the one above have a trick all of their own - when they're on, nothing else will come close. Check out Marty Burn's baits as well (he's posted several in the Tacklemaking section). I have about several of his flatsided cranks and they rock. Most of his have a little more backroll than the Zooms - which I prefer in a lot of situations - - it's a beautiful action. Some others to check out: Blackjack Buckeye Lake (the LUV plug is one of my favorites) FlatShad D-Bait (definitely) Brians Bees (the Little Flat B is great) Gulp O.S.P. (HPF Spec 2)
  19. Pretty much what Natural said (he would know.....he has a stash of some of the most valuable and sought after Zoom's ever made.....the Z-Flats and Wobblers). Ed has quite the catalog of designs - - I've never been disappointed with anything I've gotten from them - - but they aren't the ONLY high-end hand carved cranks out there, they just get the most attention. If Peepers has any Hickeys left - - I would recommend you try one to see what all the fuss is about.

That top right-hand color pattern is SICK......that's one of the best looking sunfish-type patterns I've seen. Great job on the color selections!

Trout? Heck, I'd throw those for bass any day......I've caught some really nice fish on Honey B's. Those are sweet, Marty.......one day you're going to have to catalogue all the different styles you make - - I see something new pop up every time you post!

Righteous!! For those of you who don't know, Marty is a freakin' crankbait-making mensch......if you want some of the best cranks you've ever thrown, drop him a message. I have plenty of cranks from some of the top carvers in the country, and his rock with (or ABOVE) the BEST of them. ....and it's always a pleasure to do business with him - something I never take for granted nowadays. 8-)

Big fan of lipless cranks here. Of all the high production lipless baits, my favorite is still the Cordell Super Spot. I also have a lot of high-end baits, but the Spots hang......there are a few others that do certain things better, but for an all-around it is hard to beat. A lot of it boils down to personal preference and what works for you......some of the most popular baits (like the Yo-Zuri Rattlin' Vibe, XCaliburs, and Rapala Vibe) are my least favorite out of all the ones I own - - but for a lot of people, they do the job. I tend to prefer baits that maintain their action at very slow speeds, and most of the teardrop shaped vibes require more speed to get them to work, and the Rapala has almost no action unless you get move it right along.
