Congrats....the Evo is a righteous handset - I've been digging mine for several months. Do a search on the Android thread here to look up some recommendations for app downloads....there's a lot of really good stuff.

    Yes. Yes it does.
  3. Actually, I don't really see much of a difference. Look through some country Billboard charts for those decades and you'll find a whole buncha "pop" country. Charley Pride, Glen Campbell, and a bunch of other super-orchestrated, campy, pop country. I grew up listening to that stuff on classic country radio. If that's what people like, that's fine with me. Heck, I think Wichita Lineman was a great song. But that, and half the other hits of the time were just about as pop as you could get. IMO, there is just as much, if not more, straight-up country now as there was back then. The genre, like every other, has always had its share of fluff and gems.
  4. All of these "real country" posts are starting to crack me up. ;D Ya know what - how about the the novel idea of listening to music because it's good, and leave the all the incessant sub-categorization to the kiddies. The idea that country music is "going pop" is just a bit late.....country music isn't going there, it has been there since the 60's - - or maybe people have just decided to ignore its existence, despite how prevalent "pop" country has been on the charts since way back when all they supposedly played was "real country." After all Hank Williams invented country, right? Please.... ;D There's just as much of the good stuff now as there ever has been. The overall level of musicianship in country circles (and especially among studio players) is stellar. Singing is always a big variable......it isn't pure singing ability that draws people. Some of the greats hardly have an ounce of range or real singing skill.....it's the ability to write songs and convey them in a way that makes the music relevant to the listener. That's why Taylor Swift is famous......if you're some 30 year-old+ dude that doesn't "understand" her, than that's fine, because SHE ISN'T WRITING MUSIC FOR YOU. Her crowd is pre and teenage girls, and she nails it. Good for her. And yes - live vocals tend to be on the pitchy side unless you're dealing with top-shelf vocalists, or if they aren't running the signal through an auto-tuner. If music was purely a singing contest, then everybody else might as well have left when they let Kelly Clarkson in the door. There is no "pitchy" going on there....girl has it locked down like a human tuner. Still plenty of great raw singing talent among the ladies though.....Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood can hang with any country female past or present. I'll throw Alison Krauss in there, too - as her live vocals could pretty much pass as a spotless studio track. I'm not even the biggest country fan, but there's plenty of cool stuff, even from some of the very mainstream crowd. I would rather listen to someone like Brad Paisley or Keith Urban than a derivative caricature of a dead country star, copying and pasting the same old country songs into a new album and calling it "real."
  5. That looks fantastic fw!
  6. Great looking round of baits, Marty - - the "Charlie" on the bottom looks awesome!
  7. ;D I am starting to run out.....I haven't taken a picture in quite a while.
  8. I'll pm you an address to send those tickets to......I'd gladly spend a week in paradise for free.
  9. Flat or round has nothing to do with wide or tight action....that is entirely a matter of overall crankbait design (especially lip angle and line-tie orientation). For that matter...flat cranks with tight action work year-round in any condition. Just like lipless cranks, which are very similar in action and profile. I have some round cranks with very tight, lively actions, and they're also some of my top producing baits. Also - flat cranks are capable of producing more vibration/disturbance than round cranks. Think about it....take a flat object and swing it back and forth under water, then take a round object and swing it (like a flat bat vs round bat)...the results are pretty obvious.
  10. Fantastic stuff as usual, whittler.....I love your small cranks....they're killer!
  11. Great action shots, socca! I agree with the facial expressions comment....great stuff! LilJake - that is a killer pic! I wish I had more fishing pics from when I was young. Strangely enough, it was the last thing on our minds....now that I'm older and I don't get to spend as much time fishing with my dad, I really regret it. fourbizz......that fish is BEAUTIFUL. I think you must live in some kind of wonderland looking at some of these pics you've been putting up.
  12. BigM "Marty's Charlie" ....or an original Charlie-O The Zoom WEC Wobbler is also close, but digs a little harder / deeper and doesn't have the same feel as the original. Some of the only round / square-billed cranks that have TIGHT action.
  13. Fantastic shot, socca!
  14. You should tie directly to the bait, but you should use a perfection loop knot or a surgeons loop knot. I've used loop knots.....I greatly prefer snaps.
  15. Firetiger....in any condition, water color, or clarity. If I could only have one color to cover any situation, that would probably be it. Here's my personal variation of FT.....a little more subtle than straight-up FT.
  16. Cocoa Pebbles + Heavy Cream instead of milk = NOM I can tear through almost an entire box of that stuff at a time.
  17. The deadly blue = awesome
  18. Spotted this 5'8" a few years ago in Stockton Lake, MO. Took her home with me. She stays content as long as I feed her plenty of pizza.
  19. That's darn fast! Are you in HSPA+ or is that the regular network speed? How does T-Mobile's roaming work? When you go off-network are your calls and data still unlimited?
  20. I dont think Itunes files are locked down anymore...you should be able to just move them into your music folder and play them just fine. If you have a bunch of older, protected Itunes files, you should be able to burn them to CD, and then import them back onto your computer as a plain mp3. They should play just dandy on your phone after that.
  21. Well I think it looks great. I must admit, however, that the lines of the early (late 60's) steel-bumper C3's are my favorite of any sports car in life. Now, it somebody updated the rest of it into....um.....
  22. I still hold animosity towards Canada for Nickelback - and until they offer a formal apology for their existence, things will little change.
