Fishing Clothes
Patagonia came out with their thinnest hoody, the Cool Ultra Hoody. I like most of the stuff I get from them. Also keep seeing commercials on youtube for a hoody by ketlmtn that's supposed to be ultra thin but still provide decent UV protection. I'm interested in both of these myself as I get hot in my current long sleeve stuff.

How to break a new PB - Largemouth
There's a lifetime plus of solid advice in this thread for anyone chasing big fish or fish in general so I hope everyone is paying attention. Idk I think you might be chasing genetics and timing. I mean I guess we all are on some level... but that's a real small target sometimes. The only advice I have is make sure your equipment is always good, meaning retie often, double check your drag(s) often, check your hook sharpness etc. And try to have some zen about you. My longest river smallie (21ish) came several years ago. The water was up so was bank bound. I spied a very small eddy and thought to myself "there's GOT to be a fish there!" I took a literal minute or so to compose myself and even made a false cast (baitcaster) no where near the eddy. My next cast was perfectly placed above the eddy and after several minutes of tug of war and a GIANT adrenalin dump I was lipping my PB for length. So if you have some sort of spidey sense thing happening don't ignore it.

Alone
Never watched Alone. But I am a huge Naked and Afraid fan. As far as a desire to be alone in the wilderness.....yes and no. I can for sure see myself taking off and camping at remote locations for several weeks at a time. But that would be car camping and there would be a purpose such as hiking a specific peak/area or fishing stretches of a river etc. But to take on a challenge like Alone or Naked and Afraid. Not sure how I'd fair. I'd for sure need to hone up on survival skills. But from a mental, emotional and physical perspective, maybe do okay.

We're Back Baby!
30 days to make or break a break a habit. I was getting a bit shaky.... whew!

What knot do you tie when you can't tie a palomar knot?
Ahh... I see it now, thanks. Might have to try that. The double wrap is one of the reasons I've stuck with the palomar.

Michigan gas prices are high, jumping 32 cents a gallon in 1 day
I felt lucky paying $4.59 yesterday. Decided to fill up even tho only needed half a tank. Woosahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

bold, bright bait colors... shill or no shill
I mean they are sponsored by the product manufacturers so maybe shill adjacent 🙃 And thanks for learning me a new word. Seriously tho, I routinely catch river smallmouth on chartreuse, that hothead from rapala, firetiger and clown. This is in cloudy, stained and clear water. To be fair some of the clear water catch's were just a timing deal. Never did get anything on the pink x-rap tho.

Have you noticed a lot of these UV fishing gloves have this thick material for “grip” that severely compromises dexterity?
I like my patagonia sun gloves. Also when I do go with sunscreen iso gloves I only use my pointer finger to smear on back of hand. Less to wash. Or if I'm going out in shorts/t-shirt and sunscreen my arms/legs I'll do a good a full hand wash and finish back of hands with pointer finger. Also @PhishLI touched on Neutrogena, it's a superior product. Finally, recently saw a news story in which they talked about sunscreen messing with coral reefs. Something about it being a no, no in CA and FL. I believe it was the kind with oxybenzone. I recall a couple threads about sunscreen on BR where some alluded to sunscreen being pretty bad for people. I mean if CA and FL are agreeing on something.... All things considered... we're all probably better off covering up versus using chemicals.

27 Apr 2023 ~ Jerkbaits in the wind
And to top it off you time traveled 🙃 My fishing is nothing like yours (rivers) but I find I do better in the earlier spring when the water is colder. So that bigger water may be a better bet.

How many baitcast reels below 6.0:1 do you own?
None unfortunately. You seemed to be overly burdened by an excess. I would be willing to ease that weight by taking one of those pixy's or alpha's off your hands. That's just the kind of caring selfless individual that I am. I have a Scorpion 1001 in that same ratio. I like it. Occasionally would like to be going a little slower. Would you really gain much in IPT swapping gears on your reels? Just curious as I don't really know. Seems like it would sort of negligible with smaller spools.

Photos: My AP 120 Setup
Could you rig up some sort of outriggers? A guy that was on a now defunct fishing site fished lake michigan out of chicago in a yak with outriggers. Pretty slick and pretty stable.

Knowing when it’s time.
You said she's still eating and drinking fine. I assume the other part of that equation is good too. I would say if her pain seems manageable, she has more good days than bad (as mentioned above) then she's truly not ready. Your vet should give you some good advice. Had to put down 3 cats over the years (deathly allergic to dogs). The most recent last November. You'll know and you'll be at peace about it. Well, as much as you can be anyway.

Favorite spinnerbaits?
Yeah but some tequilas are nice and smooth for sippin, others not so much. Strike king and terminator before they got discontinued/were a decent price. Sounds like Siebert would be the way to go based your parameters.

What to do with broken Avid?
Appreciate the replies thus far. Sounds like I have a few options. Thanks

Selling gear…. Process of elimination
Based on your hypothetical... if you have 3-4 keep the best 2. That way you thin and still have an option and/or a back up. Btw are you a lefty or a righty for reels? Asking for a friend...🙃

What to do with broken Avid?
If we're talking about the same thing... I already contacted them (last summer) and did the service program/warranty thing. I gave them the serial number etc. I ended up upgrading. My Avid was older so I think it was $50 plus the difference in rod price to upgrade. Unless I'm misunderstanding you I think I'm done with anything St. Croix would do for me.

What do you mean by warranty again?

The search function isn't working for me. Anyone else? I did just clear my cache before posting. It didn't seem to help.

What to do with broken Avid?
I have an older Avid 6'9" MLXF with the tip being broken two inches down along with the second eye below the tip being mashed. The tip top eye looks fine. I've already done the warranty thing. Could anyone here use the eyes or handle parts? Free if you want it. Any random out of the box ideas of uses or should I just toss it?

Got Some Mojo Back Today
Idk about all of that. I watch a few channels for the person's personality and the fact that they share technique/information/catch good fish. Yes I realize it's edited but still... @Kayak Koz I would keep it simple, "Kayaking Koz". Or use Kozmo like from Seinfeld. Add a giddy up now and again lol. Idk if a hook would really change anything. Or rather a hook will only go so far. You're either going to be likable or not. I'd suggest focussing on diction and I guess "acting" (even tho you should kinda just be yourself). Just my unasked for two cents lol
