  1. I have a Tatula SV TW that I can compare to my other reels that don't have the TWS and IMO, I think it works. No doubt most Daiwa's cast well regardless of whether or not they have the TWS. I find the TWS is more forgiving than the line guide on my Curado DC when casting, but with both, my casting distance is limited to my abilities not the reels.
  2. Godline.. I have it and like it. The 65lb Godline braid is thinner than my 50lb Kastking super power braid.
  3. I'd toss the Curado 200k into the mix. It is a killer reel right at the upper end of your budget. Owning the pro g as well as others not in your list that would be my best advice. Again, the Tatula Ct-r is also better than anything on your list. I feel like I am recommending it often in threads like this on reels in your price range.
  4. To be fair, I have both as well and the Pro G is a solid reel. I wouldn't discount the curado either.. I fished my pro g and curado dc this morning and enjoy both. I do prefer the smaller frame of the pro g.
  5. In my opinion, in that price range a Daiwa Tatula type R is amazing. Its on it's way out so the price has dropped bringing them into your price range.
  6. I've overhanded our family cat a few times... I find that I can cast the line out all the way to the spool with no overrun on all settings! Side arm I lose about 30 yards but the accuracy is a LOT more consistent.
  7. Skipping is one thing that I've yet to try on this thing. I may have bashed mode 3 prematurely!
  8. These things must be inconsistent albeit I find setting 3 a bit useless myself. If I tune the reel to cast well in mode 1, all other modes work. I wouldn't think you should have to readjust the spool tension for each brake setting.
  9. I don't understand how this is so difficult to set up initially? There's only 1 variable.. the spool tension knob.
  10. I find Tungsten to be advantageous due to the smaller size to weight ratio. Here's how I think of it: If while setting the hook on lets say a weighted Texas rig, the weight has to come through the lips. I find that a smaller sized Tungsten weight opens the fishes mouth less than a larger equivalent weight made of led therefore increasing your chances of a good hook set. For dropshot applications I still prefer the led due to $ savings.
  11. I have the 8.5:1 model. I love the thing! Casting with no thumb is possible as advertised but, where's the fun in that? Plus, as stated above, the amount of tension required on the spool knob to do this decreases potential distance. Back it off a bit and use some thumb! Setup this way, it keeps up with the K and Tatulas.
  12. A buddy of mine got a Tatula CT Type R about a month ago.. Blew my mind! The TWS seems to be the way to go.
  13. Both are great! I am excited to read your review of them both.
