St. Croix vs. Loomis
Both are great rods but for me its all about the warranty broke my first Loomis this year called them on a Monday and for $50 i had a brand new rod on my doorstep by Thursday no questions asked, just took the broken rod put it in the rod tube the new one came in and dropped it off at fed ex to ship it back no charge. No Hassle Warranty is the reason i buy Loomis

Detecting hit when jig fishing
I used to hate jig fishing but have gotten significantly better at it this year and have learned to enjoy it. I use an older Shimano Curado 200B on a G-Loomis 803 MB (6'8" Medium Heavy, Extra Fast), with 15# Seaguar Carbon Pro. I tried the braid on jigs and I hated it! It seemed like the line was scaring the fish away and didn't like the feel of it, but as soon as I switched to fluorocarbon I started catching a lot more and a lot bigger fish. My experience thus far is feel everything and at the sign of anything feeling "weird" set the hook, the other thing I have learned is "WATCH YOUR LINE" sometimes a fish will pick it up and come at you and your line just keeps getting more and more slack. Hopefully this will help you just a little bit with jig fishing, I'm not an expert by any means but this is what has helped me.

scent or not?
Scent or no scent I really wanna say no scent at all, its horrible, don't use it, especially if I'm fishing against you in a tournament. But all in all I've seen too many times that it results in more fish, EX. a sunken pallet on a hump at a local reservoir that is over pressured fishing with a finesse worm and casting to the same place for about 10 to 15 casts, then adding scent to the bait and pulling 3 fish off of the piece of cover in the next 5 casts....For me that doesn't seem like confidence I know my bait works, but for some reason that scent made my bait work better...(IT IS OIL BASED AS WELL)...so is BANG which I am confident their Shad scent is one of the best scents when throwing baits to resemble baitfish which I also believe is an oil based scent.

Best Shallow Running Crankbait
Mann's Baby 1- minus the original haven't used the elite series but i don't really like the finishes on them, tear them up on the real thing though. Anything deeper than 1' go with a Bandit

What should I have done to catch these fish?
I would have tried a small spinner bait like 1/8 or 1/4 with a #1 colorado and a #3 1/2 willow combo with a translucent skirt and tried ripping that then letting if flutter if they were chasing bait, or if in ultra clear water throw fluorocarbon line and downsize 1/8 oz tru-tungsten weights small 1/0 hooks and finesse worms.

MinnKota vs. Motorguide.
My experience has been the opposite i can't stand minn kota but i've never seen a problem with motor guide for me personally the minn kota motors have a very bulky foot pedal and louder in my experience opposed to the motor guide that has a smoother more compact foot control and is quieter and they have the machete props. I had always fished with minn kota beforehand but after using a motor guide i wouldn't want to switch back. Also i have a friend with a 21ft Bumble Bee with the tour series digital 82lb and its the smoothest quietest motor i've operated.

worst bait?
Styx my buddy john has one of those but his is black we were fishing once at a local reservoir, and i started laughing when it started shaking on top of the water he popped it a couple more times and had it start flapping on top of the water again then a landed a nice 3lb bass after it blew up on it.

Line question mono and fluro?
I use 3 lines on my baitcasters mono either P-Line CXX which is a tough abrasive copolymer, or Izorline mono both handle about the same and are tough strong lines with minimal stretch, personally i wouldn't touch cajun line with a 20ft pole tried it hated it too weak and not very manageable. As far as fluorocarbon goes i use seagar carbon pro or berkley vanish the blue box. In clear water or finesse fishing or T-Rig, C-Rig, Jigs its flouro or the P-Line all reaction or power fishing is Izorline or P-Line

Flouro or YZ Hybrid
All my baitcasters in exception to two of them have Izorline Platinum XXX on them or P-Line CXX both have higher breaking strengths abrasion resistance and little stretch. I've straightened out hooks with 8lb CXX on my spinning set up. Both are a little stiff but perfect for casting reels. Now if you are fishing crystal clear water thats where my other rod comes in it has Seagar Carbon-Pro on it for jig fishing and the other is 50lb Sufix braid for throwing lipless cranks in grass. Hope this helps.

worst bait?
Anyone have any experience with a bait that no matter what you do you can't catch fish on? Like I've bought a few booyah spinnerbaits that I personally cant do anything with they wont run right I've tuned them ever possible way and half the time the blades won't turn, I gave those away and I think I'll just stick to my Glamor Shads.

strke king pure poison
Caught her at Ni reservoir in Spotsylvania Virginia, had this one earlier that day on a glamor shad spinner bait chartreuse/white skirt she was 20"

Down to 2 baitcasters, which one???
look at the citica 101d then its the same frame as the older curado 101b and is a smaller lighter reel

High end $ surface poppers
Rico bone color my #1 topwater bait

incorrect senko information
Ive heard that about the sand somewhere too where people have melted down senkos and there was a sandy substance left after the salt and plastic were melted

Hook choice?
3/0 gamakatsu finesse wide gap weedless

Reel or Rod
Rod is more important for any type of finesse fishing, worm fishing, or jigs but for reaction type baits not as important. I would much much rather fish my $119 curado on a $200+ G-loomis than a chronarch on an ugly stick.

$120.00 dollar question!
go with the crucials you wont be disappointed and they're backed wth a lifetime warranty

strke king pure poison
Long time no posts vacations and working and days on the water hardly anytime to get online, but now back to serious business I've found a chatter style bait that I actually like and works well. The only thing I don't like is that the blade wears the finish off of the jig head but I caught my PB on it so i can't complain too much. The white Strike King Pure Poison in 3/8 oz, caught my Personal Best last week of 23 and 3/4", and 7lb 12oz. Her name's Betsy she was kept alive, weighed, and released.

new member of shimano posse? need advice
Honestly if it were me and money wasn't and issue i would go with the stradic, i own a symetre and they are a great reel but honestly the stradic is a smoother reel, not saying that i don't like my symetre i love the reel its super smooth but there is a reason the stradic costs $40 more, also or atleast the last time i chekced the symetre is made in malaysia while the stradic is actually made in Japan. The stradic would pair nicely with a legend elite or even their legend tournament series.

Shimano Reels
I have the 2500 Symetre and was debating between that and the Sahara or the Sedona several months ago but found for me that the reel felt alot better for the $20-$30 extra for it, it perfectly balances on my 6'6" MH loomis
