New prop install help.
Turns out it is the wrong prop. After much online research, which all had this model prop as the correct one , michigan said this number was discontinued and was not a replacement for that engine. The number is on the hub and clear. All retailers had my engine listed as a fit. Should havr gone to Michigan, the source, first.

New prop install help.
Hello, My outboard in a Nissan 9.9 9C 1993. I have a Michigan Match # 142017, which appears to be the correct replacement. The oem prop, which is dead, came off easily. They appear to be the same and the thrust washer is installed fine... The new prop fits very snug. I gently tapped it on with a wood 2x. It appears the outside of the prop is tight to the inside of the lower unit housing. It start and goes into gear and continues without stalling. But, turning by hand is noticeably tight. When shifting to neutral, the prop stops dead. This new prop has a nice thick paint job or whatever coating and the old has nearly none... if this maters. What do you think? Thanks

15-20 year old fiberglass boats??
Wood construction. There's wood under that fiberglass somewhere. As I get older, I want less projects and work. Soft decks and transoms are common. Do your research before you buy.

Ice fishing crappie
Hello, I plan to ice fish a small shallow lake this coming weekend. Never fished crappie before this past fall. I know where they were before the water temp went below 55. Should I look for them in the deep along dock structure or shallow along the weeds. Dock is 12' or so... weeds about 5' and max depth is 16' . Lake is about 58 acre and seems loaded with crappie. Thanks!

Boat location - NYC reservoir
Hello, I've been fishing a reservoir for some years with some success. After reading a bunch here, I realize I'm catching fish when its easiest. I'm leaving the best fishing untouched. I know of an area, a large cove, where I'll place a row boat. This area has shallows, spawning area, grass, hard structure, blow down and deep water. I've noticed while I catch fish from shore early, larger fish bust on what appears to be the flats before another drop off. I've studied the maps and identified that area. As the sun rises all gets quiet. This cove faces south. When the level was low I waded an old submerged road that appeared to go off in the direction of an underwater point and caught my biggest fish here early. What do you think about this location and how would you fish it at different times of day?

Cabelas lifetime warranty cancelled!
I was absolutely not happy. I'm a long time Cabelas brand consumer. After some thought I realized my Cabelas brand gear was old and continues to age and wear well. So, good product. I'd buy again from them if their product is the best available in my price range. I have also discovered my local "outfitter" will locate most of what I want at the same or competitive price of any big box. So no need to stress... Lifetime warranty is great, but some dont use it as intended. I really have not needed extended or long term warranties for a manufacturer's fault or defect. I find these issues within a short period of time.

Anyone fish the Cannonsville reservoir in New York?
Hello Capt. Recently, electric motors and kayaks are allowed. Anything used on the reservoir is required to be washed at a approved vendor before being placed on the water. You must have this receipt. You must do this each visit or dont remove your boat and motor and register / sticker your boat at the DEP office. Not easy for day trips and I'm not leaving my motor. Your spec of the Cannonsville is correct and yes smallmouth. It's also loaded with brown trout... few largemouth. I caught one last season... big but few. The smallie fishing is worth the effort. Its loaded. I'm not far from you.

Blank selection help needed
So my question is way too broad. After a bunch more reading, I can see that. I'll determine the specific application of this tackle and choose accordingly. I need try and see what is effective and to my liking. No real easy way to do this. Not easy, but very enjoyable!

Blank selection help needed
Hello, I'd like to build 2 spinning rods to be paired with a Tatula Lt 1000 and a Balistic Lt 3000. These will be jig rods. I like rods on the longer length side. They'll be used mainly from shore. I'd like to order the same maker and save shipping or ATC from Mudhole and get free shipping. United Composites, North Fork or ATC would be my choices. I'm open to others as well. I would like durable and not worry about a bit more weight. Jig weights would be 1/16 to 1oz. This range is across both rods not each. I never fished jigs till recently and it's a blast. I dont want UL. I recently found some local water with large crappie and on my tiny jigs by catch of some good bass and walleye. I have many older type glass rods and would like the new and lite weight technology available. Sorry for the long post.. Thanks!

Anyone fish the Cannonsville reservoir in New York?
Anyone fish rbe Cannonsville in Delaware county NY? It's got some great fishing. I've got a boat, but fish shore mainly. I plan to put some time in with the boat this coming spring. I'll move my boat this season to an area where it's easier to control the boat and fish. My boat is a flat bottom and catches wind like a sail. I've got a portable finder / GPS coming to fish a bit more seriously. I've caught good fish from shore and boat, but really never fished it like some of you here fish a body of water. I've got more time to fish these days and I'm having a blast all within an hour of the house. Anyone know this water?

Why is bass fishing so addicting?
Wow this passion is great. I've caught different types of fish but must say I love bass fishing. Tackle, technique environment all add to the enjoyment. Lately, I've caught my first few crappie and I must say it was nice.

Hello
Hello from NEPA! I find myself enjoying my area lakes and rivers more and more each year. Did more salt for many years and opposite these days. It's certainly not easier. If anything, I've become a better fisherman from my exposure to the fresh. Anyway, I'll look forward to learning a few tricks and maybe meet up with a member here and there. Be well and enjoy!
