  1. Berkley must have a plan but I sure can't figure it out. Power Baits are some of my favorite , but I am not very impressed with this new line. I have a few to try and time will tell.
  2. I always have one in the boat with me and I use it anytime I want to cover a lot of water, great search bait. As already stated the T rig is best in cover.
  3. Drop Sticks Slick Willy's Slick Sticks
  4. I see *** has these available now. Strange looking lure, but an interesting concept. If it does everything the write up says it can do it is quite an engineering accomplishment. To me it looks like a crankbait/swimbait.
  5. I look at bass more as individuals and not as a group. Not all of them do the same thing at the same time they seem to have habits and "personalities" all their own. There are certain things such as temp and light penetration and wind that influence them, but in the end they will each do their own thing. If all of the bass beds are the ones I can see I think the species is doomed for extinction, there has to be ten times that many in deeper water.
  6. If they ain't there you ain't gonna catch them, no way no how. Find them first and then figure out how to catch them. There is a whole lot of dead space on any water. Find em and fish.
  7. I buy them because nothing else has the same action. But I don't fish them often, for me they are another tool that have their place in certain situations. I just have more confidence in other baits and techniques.
  8. I think they would be a good saltwater bait but they were a dud for bass for me.
  9. In the good looking spots I cast until I am sure I won't get a hit there, and I will use 4 or 5 baits to cover it all. Sometimes they just need a little coaxing.
  10. Don't forget those bail springs.
  11. Well square bills are good baits, have been for decades, some deflect better than others and that is what makes them better in my opinion. As far as a winning bait goes it is just what worked for that guy on that day in that place. Does not mean it is magic and will do the same for you. We are all bait collectors as well as fisherman and if you don't admit that you are in denial.
  12. Maybe Zoom doesn't pay them enough to say they won a tourney on them haha You can bet it is all about the sponsors money. If Zoom was sponsoring one of those winners you can bet every fish he caught would be on a Zoom bait. Give Zoom credit, they are doing very well without all of that.
  13. I didn't really mind all of the inconveniences of those old days, until the trolling motors came along. After that I never wanted to touch an oar again. On windy days more time was spent with oars in hand than with a rod and reel.
  14. Years ago they claimed that a bait would hunt if the bill was slightly out of line. I suspect there is more than one reason.
  15. After watching that commercial it is apparent to me that KVD not only out classes these guys as an angler but as a person too. Skeet Reese is almost incoherent and he looks like he needs a bath. ESPN wanted to make heros out of guys like this. This whole thing might be an all time low for Berkley.
  16. I wonder if we would cut the flat tail off that bait if it would look like that funny looking Japanese grub that Raul likes so well ?
  17. Maybe the hunting action is from the design of the bill. That would make sense.
  18. .ghoti just looking at that bait it would have been the last one I would buy. Based on your opinion I will try a pack, might be a big surprise. They are sure cheap enough.
  19. I picked up a couple of these at Cabela's today, they were on sale at 25% off. These look and feel like just another Strike King crankbait. Not the greatest finish, not a heavy bait for their size and the hooks will probably be something that anglers will change. They are a thin wire hook and not real sharp. I have heard they are supposed to hunt because they have some sort of weight transfer system, but if you shake them you can't hear of feel anything. A pretty average low priced crank bait. Having said all of that I use some Strike King cranks and do well with them so I am not knocking them, just did not see any reason to get real excited about this particular model. Now I want to see how they perform.
  20. I picked up a pack of the craws while I was at Cabela's today. They are not special by any means. They are not scented and are a little harder than other Berkley baits, detail is about the same as others. I don't know what Berkley is thinking with this line, maybe an economy line of soft plastics. Maybe they will be something in the water, but otherwise just pretty average looking.
  21. Zoom is my favorite with Berkley a close second
  22. I agree but I don't think the bait companies really listen to the pros. The smart guys design the baits and the famous guys put there names on them because they are paid to do it.
  23. I hope we can find a weight that was as good as Tru Tungsten. I won't use inserts and the cheaper weights are too rough inside they will cause your line to break.
  24. I get out as soon as I can. It is usually a good time to pick up some nice bass on jerk baits.
  25. I don't know why they are priced that high, that puts them at about the price of the Rapala DT series which are good baits. Maybe because they are a Lucky Craft look alike or because of the endorsement. People are willing to pay more for products with some one's name on them for some reason. I don't know a thing about them other than they passed the look test.
