  1. If I could only use one bait anywhere anytime it would be a Kalin's or Chompers 3 to 5 inch curly tail grub on a jig head.
  2. Jerkbaits, Pointers and Husky Jerks. As the water warms I will start to use T rigged and shaky head soft plastics.
  3. Good grief!! Not again!! Don't we do this about every other week? Does any one read the previous pages or search for this topic?
  4. A six foot alligator T rigged I really don't have one, wish I did. I have several old standby favorites.
  5. Sometimes I think it is a combination of colors that work in many different waters under several different conditions.
  6. I think it is because the craws in the Indiana, Ohio do not turn red from the mud they hibernate in. I think that is a southern thing. I have fished for many years and have never seen a red craw in this area.
  7. The therory behind that unit is that it will tell you what color the fish can SEE the best. Not what they will hit.
  8. The craws in the south spend the winter buried in the mud and are red when the come out in the spring. However in this area (south eastern Ohio) they bury themselves in rocks and are not so red. That made me wonder if those red craw colored baits work as well in this area of the country. I don't catch a lot of bass on red colored baits around here. I am sure someone has a good opinion about this.
  9. If I remember right those things are just more or less a light meter.
  10. I have fished Clendenning for a lot of years and I think you would do very well with a 7 inch Power Worm.
  11. Power Bait doesn't really need a scent. What Berkley uses is much better than anything you can buy in a can or bottle.
  12. My favorite is the one made by Case Plastics. They have a good action, are tough, and the price is right.
  13. Those old, real old Heddon and Creek Chub wood plunkers.
  14. I think the Pointers are worth it for sure, they are in a class by themselves. But as for the rest I do just as well with Rapala, Bomber, Bandit and Rebel lures.
  15. I thought something like that would work, they are built to glide.
  16. I bought a pack of Yabbies once and those little bugged out eyes were so funny looking I never used them. I think the hook was too small anyhow.
  17. Anybody using these? I spotted these in a bait shop the other day and I thought they had a very interesting shape. I thought the five inch version with it's wide, thin body would probably glide considerably on the drop. Anyhow I picked up a couple of packs and plan to try them weightless and see if I get the unique action that I expect.
  18. I am not too far from you and the hard jerk baits work the best for me, Pointers and Husky Jerks. I got four nice bass on them Friday.
  19. Paca craws, Sweet Beavers, Power worms. Texas rig, Carolina rig, shakey head and so forth. You can hardly fish them wrong.
  20. I agree but they can be cruising. And it goes without saying that you fish the cover particularly dark wood.
  21. Fish the warmest water and that should be where the sun is shining. Don't worry about bright light a bass can adjust their eyes to that. Throw a jerk bait and if there are any bass around you will do well.
  22. The original Sweet Beaver can't be beat. I t rig them and use them weightless a lot.
  23. Send it to Rapala and they will replace it.
  24. The bass in the Great Lakes gobble them up, but I wonder how they would work in waters where there is not a goby population.
