what were the best new lures of 2009
My vote is for the Grandebass Rattlesnake. I only fished these baits a little towards the end of the season in 09 because I just found out about them. They were excellent for the time I fished them probably the most impressive new bait I have tried for years. I have done a lot of research on these and other fisherman are doing very well and have excellent things to say about these baits. probably one of the best kept secrets in bassin today. That is why I started a topic about them, I wanted to hear what you all had to say about them. I urge you try these if you can find them.

Grande Bass Rattlesnakes
I have heard this is a pretty good bait, but I don't think there has been very much talk about them on here. Has anyone had good results with them?

Paca Craw
This bait has been a killer for me. My favorite is the baby craw T rigged with the lightest weight I can use. But I also use them on a shakey head, or a C rig, or as a jig trailer even on a swim jig. Does not seem to be a wrong way to fish them. The big craw is great for flipping. The tiny craw will work on a drop shot rig. Just fish them, you won't be sorry.

Your favorite small 2-4" finesse soft plastics for a tough bite
Four inch Berkley Power worm. The bass never get tired of them.

Underrated lures
If I had to fish to eat this would be the bait I would choose. They catch just about anything on days when other baits won't work at all. I guess it is just not a challenging bait to use and has never been popular.

What state has the most BR members?
I think it's Ahiah.

Scents do they make a difference.
That sunscreen post was within the year -on Lake Erie I believe. They were dropping tubes to smallies on sonar. As I remember it, the sunscreen outfished those without. Statisitically it wasn't anything to write home about, but it at least showed that the sunscreen did not repel the bass. I also remember a very old experiment done or reported by Homer Circle in F&S (I think) in which they soaked one group of plastic worms in gasoline, and found no difference in catch rate.

Scents do they make a difference.
Because of it's popularity on here I have been using Megastrike all season. Sorry but it is about the same as any other "scent". It has not increased my strike or catch rate.

Scents do they make a difference.
Matt to answer your question, I have have never tried an actual experiment. Other than, on days when I fished for a while with little or no luck, I have put scent on my baits and it has never made a noticeable difference in the results.

Scents do they make a difference.
I don't believe that scents attract bass, I do think it may make them hold a bait a little longer, but I am not even sure about that. Two things you do not want on your bait are sun screen and insect repellent.

Fall Transition
You can add Ohio to this list. This has been the strangest year I have ever spent on the water. I never really did figure out when the bass spawned, and right now the shallows are full of bass.

Will the very-best crankbait... please stand up!
Maybe we are just runng out of new ideas for things to discuss. Let's all go fishing and think about it.

Bass Pro or Cabelas?
Is there anything we have not talked about before? If all we did was use the search feature this forum would be very boring.

Bass Pro or Cabelas?
I buy just about everything at Cabela's they are only about ten minutes from me. This store has a good selection and excellent customer service. What I can't get there I buy from Bass Pro or Tackle Warehouse.

Best Old/Vintage Crankbaits?
I agree with the Mud Bug, Hellbender, and original Bombers, I have caught many bass on those, they are classics. I just can't seem to find a new "old" Wiggle Wart that is as good as the originals. I had a tackle box full of those and caught bass after bass on them. I still have some left and side by side they just seem to be better for me than the new ones. I can feel the action more with the old ones and they just take off to the side better. I am not saying you guys are all wrong, Raul has a good theory about these. Another great bait was the original Rebel Wee R, the new ones are just not the same, they feel lighter and the finish is different.

Best Old/Vintage Crankbaits?
Rebel deep Humbacks Heddon Tad Poly The original old Bagley baits and the orginal Wiggle Warts.

Mono for Cranks
I use Yo Zuri hybrid for just about everything.

Shell beds.
In this area the Ohio river is full of shell beds, some of those are Zebra mussels and that could be part of the reason the river has been getting clearer over the past several years. I find them on bars and some of the biggest seem to be on the down river points of islands.

wat kinda a fish should i put in my pond
Big hungry critters! And not too smart. I think you have it pretty well covered, maybe some kind of minnow for forage. Best advice, check with the DNR.

Senko Colors
Because I like the way it looks, I 'm a sucker for pretty colored baits, if they have metal flake or are laminated/ swirled even better than plain colored ones. In esence I fish the colors I like, from there depending on water clarity and cloud cover I might choose metal flake over laminate or the other way around. Why I say it doesn 't matter ? because in my experience very seldomly I 've found myself in a situation in which the fish specifically chose one color over other; I choose the bait to present something in particular that I think it will be better for the conditions, for example in clear water I prefer straight tail worms, for murkier/muddier water I prefer C,ribbon, U or G tailed worms because of the vibration, so first I choose shape, size, profile, appendages n 'such ( like metal flake size ) and at the very last I choose the color, which color ? the color I like. OK thanks for the answer, I understand. You have a sensible approach to lure selection.

Tungsten Difference?
Sensitivity, they are much better than lead. And as already stated, you will really feel the difference with a good rod and line.

Senko Colors
Not really, I have a particular preference for certain colors so those are the ones I fish the most ( man I love watermelon green/red metalflake ), but that I can tell a difference most times, not at all. My pal Cesar and I were fishing a couple of months ago, he was catching them with one of his favorite colors: black/blue laminate on the other hand I was catching them ( those rare ocassions I was fishing with a senko ) with chartreuse-chartreuse/green metalflake. Both colors have nothing in common. Now to make it more interesting, this past weekend I tied a watermelon black flake Fat Ika, after a couple of hours the color of the bait had changed, instead of being watermelon it looked like some sort of green pumpkin and it made no difference, it still caught them. Raul please don't take this the wrong way, I am just curious. If you say color doesn't matter. Why do you like that particular one so well? Is it a confidence thing? Or is green just your favorite all around color for everything?

Walking the dog
You have to snap your rod tip back at the lure to give that little bit of slack, without slack the lure cannot move to the side.

Favorite fall crankbait
I know this is all about crank baits. But an excellent choice for this situation is a curly tail grub and a jig head. Kalin and Yum Muy grubs are excellent choices.

Favorite fall crankbait
The smallest Big O is an excellent bait.
