Luhr Jensen Speed Traps
I picked up a couple of these and tried them yesterday when I was out. I did not have any problem at all casting them with a Revo SX on a Fenwick med heavy Tecna AV casting rod with 12 pound Yo Zuri. I tried the 1/4 and the 1/8 size and both worked very well. I think their weight is very understated.

I like the Ricos, been the best for me the last couple of years. I have a very old popper I traded a collector for many years ago and it is deadly.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions I am going to pick up a couple. You are right about their paint jobs though, lot of room for improvement.

Weirdest Thing You've Ever Hooked?
I caught an eel in the Ohio River several years ago. It was about 30 inches long and I don't have any idea what kind it was.

Luhr Jensen Speed Traps
I was looking at these the other day and they don't look too bad for the price. Any opinions on these?

Learning the Senko...
First of all Senkos are not magic and they don't work for everybody. There are some pretty good fishermen who have given up on them. Is this a shallow pond with the bottom covered with weeds or slime? If so then your bait could be out of sight when it is laying on the bottom. If that is the case the dead sticking is not going to work, you will need to move that bait a little faster and keep it up where the bass can see it. If the bottom is not covered with weeds then give up and try a top water. There is a reason those bass won't hit a soft bait fished slowly on the bottom. Fishing is fun, never get frustrated.

Weirdest Thing You've Ever Hooked?
A freind of mine hooked a Pelican while fishing from a pier for Blues one time. What a fight that was, this guy is about 6' 6' and 350 pounds. He had that bird on the end of his line and it was air borne, he ran up and down the pier with that thing, bodies flying everywhere. One of the funniest things I have ever witnessed.

Bass spawning in 40-48* degree water
My guess is the sudden warming of the water has triggered these bass to feed heavily. You have probably had the same warm front go through there that we have had and the water temps have made a big jump.

New to Tackle Warehouse NEED SOME HELP!
It probably won't matter where you start because before you are done you will have at least one of everything. As soon as you send your order you will think of something else. It is hopeless.

If you are just getting started and price is a consideration then I would say Bandits, Bomber and Norman are also good deals. The best in my opinion are the Rapala DT's

do they really use it all?
It must work for the sponsors because if a pro wins a tourney on a bait we all run out and buy it.

Ardent reels
Build a better product and the world will beat a path to your door. Have you used an Ardent? They are fine reels, a little heavy, and ugly as hell. Last I checked it was fishing, not a beauty pageant. I recently got rid of my Ardent, and never had an issue with it. I could cast a mile, brakes were easy to adust, and it could take an abuse. I highly reccomend an Ardent reel. My point was peripherally pointed at the Ardent or any other American product for that matter. Rewarding mediocrity is a straight line to a dead end. Subsidizing ineptitude hurts the consumer. Has Ardent been subsidised by anybody? Not that I know of. If Ardent builds a bad product they will not last long, and they shouldn't. I am pulling for them, I hope they can raise their level to ABU, Shimano and others. If they do I will buy their reels. And if they can do that they will create better jobs for the people in that area who are working for minimum wage without benefits. And that is what it needs to happen to get this economy fixed, the small guy with a vision, and a dream and the guts to make it happen. Not the multi million dollar corporations who are fueled by greed and have sent so many good jobs over seas. There are many products coming into this country now that are inferior to the ones that were once produced here, but we have to buy them, we don't have a choice because their cheaper prices drove the US companies out of business. I think if a person loses a good paying job to a foriegn product it will change their attitude about supporting the US companies.

Ardent reels
Build a better product and the world will beat a path to your door. Only the people with jobs can and will beat a path to anyone's door to buy anything. I have found out that Ardent has improved many of the things that were not liked about their reels and their sales are up 140% last year. I have nothing what so ever to do with Ardent, I have never held one of their reels in my hand. I have heard a lot about them and just was asking the people who use them what their thoughts are about them. Seems like I opened a can of worms here.

Ardent reels
I don't have a blind loyalty to any company, product, or nation. But I do support US jobs, your job, when I can.
-
Ardent reels
Thanks but I will just pass on this one, I was just curious about them. It would be great to see a US company make out.
-
Ardent reels
I have Revo's and Curados. Do you own an Ardent reel or have you used one? I would like to hear an opinion from someone who uses them.
-
Ardent reels
I have been looking at their reels and I was wondering if anyone here uses them and what you think about them.

Yellow and chartruese on crank baits
There has not been a lot of replies on here about these two colors. But sure enough on the thread about starting a crank collection there is a photo of two cranks with these colors. And it seems to me that when someone shows me their favorite or best crank one of those colors is somewhere on it. Is this something we all do without thinking about it? Sure seems to be a pattern.

Yellow and chartruese on crank baits
Those are great baits and that is an excellent color around here. I have several of those jointed plugs but I have never been able to find that color.
