  1. When you purchase crank baits do you prefer that bait to have a splash, stripe, or bar of either of these colors? Does that define your decision no matter what the basic color is? Do your favorite cranks have a little of these colors on them? I am just real curious about this.
  2. I looked at a poll somewhere about colors fishermen prefer on a crank. There were over 1300 responses and 51% said they would want some yellow or chartruese on their cranks. Thirty four per cent wanted silver/shad. I wondered if all of the respondents were bass fishermen or if some walleye guys got involved. How do you guys feel about those colors. Do you buy most of your cranks with yellow or chartruese on them somewhere?
  3. I am going to add the Berkley Beast. No one talks about them and I think they have been discontinued. But I have fished them for a couple of years and once I learned how to present them they were a darn good bait. I used the big ones and used a 4/0 or 5/0 weighted hooked with them and just let them sink slowly into cover. Those things had a a shimmy to them that looked like a baitfish fluttering to the botom. Pretty effective.
  4. Jerk baits flat sided cranks sometimes I will use a deep running, suspending crank
  5. So it is a one time deal??
  6. I have heard about it but I don't know how to do it. I am sure somebody must.
  7. I have been about to pull the trigger and order a Rico or Yellow Magic Popper. Both sem to have very good reviews.
  8. Is there a color preference for the Rico? Should not matter too much with a top water.
  9. Early May, some clouds, a little wind. Wish it would last forever.
  10. The thing that amazes me most about this group is their dedication.
  11. Mimic makes a nice flat sided bait that was selling pretty cheap on e Bay
  12. The Pointer is a great lure. In my opinion it is LC's best and the only one worth the price.
  13. Bomber makes a real nice small bait can't remember the name, and I also do well on the smallest Big O, I guess by Cordell. I use 4 pound Yo Zuri line.
  14. I leave all of mine in the original bags and carry what I want for the day in a couple of those small bags, I think they are from Falcon and also Bass Pro. All of my extras I just keep in good old shoe boxes. They stand up easy and I can seperate them in brand, size, or color and they are easy to find. I use a Sharpie to write on the outside of the box what is in it. Best system I have tried yet.
  15. Big Bass Chaser makes a good point. Some baits are great in some places and awful in others, I don't know why but it is like that in the local waters around here. The hot lures change from location to location and I know that happens all over the country. That is why I don't agree with playing by the rules when bass fishing, way too many variables. Keep an open mind and adjust on the water.
  16. I use the lightest I can for the conditions I am fishing, wind has a lot to do with that.I think soft baits are best when their action is not impeded. Of course I go heavier if I am fishing deep.
  17. Rapala Sub Walk. I gave it a good chance, finally threw it away. I was never more turned off on a bait. Might be ok for salt water.
  18. Swim baits, I just don't like them can't fish one for more than five minutes.
  19. I have a friend who does very well with the Cabela baits. From what I have seen of them they are about the same quality as Bandits.
  20. Yes. If I fish on the east side they migrate to the west side. They know all of the shortcuts.
  21. This happened to my buddy. He kept his boat at a dock on the lake, one day we were walking out the dock to his boat and someone up on the shore yelled something at him. He stopped, turned around and answered them. They exchanged a few comments and then he took two steps and stepped off the dock into where his boat should have been........ it wasn't..... It was an empty slip his boat was in the next one . He went down with a handful of rods, his tackle box and all of his dignity. I could hear him cussing under water. He had a nice audience for that one.
  22. Doesn't work for me. Tungsten weights with inserts feel as dead as lead weights.
  23. They do, that is exactly what they are for. But they take away the biggest advantage of tungsten and that is the sensitivity. If tungsten was not so much more sensitive that lead I would not buy them at all.
  24. Inserts take away the sensitivity of tungsten which is one big reason they are prefered. And if they have inserts in them that probably means they are rough and will cut your line like a hacksaw. I would stay away from them. Bite the bullet and buy Tru Tungsten.
  25. I forgot about this one. When I launch by myself sometimes I will tie a rope to the trailer and hook it to the boat. Back in the water and the boat floats off the trailer and the hook falls off the boat. I have gone swimming at least three times.
