  1. Daily special on TW today is the Yum Lizard...25% off
  2. I suppose I wasn't too specific in my original post. The bluegills were floating with all this brown muck on them like they've been there for weeks or something. I've never seen anything like it.
  3. I did the same thing! It worked around 10:30pm CT last night for me, I think it may have ended at midnight. Glad we lucked out!!
  4. The ice went out on this pond about a month ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if it got another small layer of ice in the past month with all the temp fluctuations we've been having. And with the pond only 9 feet deep at the deepest part, it could have led to a lot of fish dying off just due to the lack of oxygen/water that wasn't frozen.
  5. That's what the gentleman said that I talked to last night. He said he takes his little jon boat out that has a small Lowrence on it and the deepest he marked last year was 9 feet. I was thinking it was maybe just due to the frigid temps and then it got up to the 70's and then back down into the 40's now.
  6. Finally got out last night to a local pond down the road. As I was fishing the bank, I kept noticing all of these dead bluegills that were along the shorelines. The pond only gets to about 9 feet deep in the deepest part of the pond and there is a lot of muck/algae on the rocks and a lot of weeds out farther from shore. I talked to one local angler there and he thinks that the carp are taking over the pond. Could this be what's causing the bluegill to die off? They all seem to have had brown muck/algae on them as well indicating that they've been dead for a while? What else could be causing these fish to die off like this?
  7. This always happens with a 90 for me as well like @the reel ess mentioned. If it is a long cast and your line is on the water, more than likely, the body will spin with the tail/prop part. If fishing in a boat, I can get away with raising my rod tip a bit to make sure my line isn't touching the water as much. I'm also using mono on this set up. If you are using fluoro then there's your issue. If you're using mono or braid, I would suggest raising your rod tip a bit on those long casts otherwise make smaller pitches out there.
  8. Maybe try a senko, wacky rigged or t-rigged. I would go weightless and fish the weed lines if possible. Instead of a junebug color try something more natural like a green pumpkin of some sort due to the water clarity. Another option would be a ned rig. This could do very well in your situation with finicky bass in clear water. Best of luck!!
  9. I was about to go floating down a river with some friends when we were still in college and right when we were about leave shore, a big Musky came up and made a duck disappear in plain sight! Never knew Muskies were magicians like that. Had another experience this year on the water where we were fishing a bank and had seen a beaver about 100 yards up the bank. By the time we got up there we figured he was gone by now, or so we thought...I casted a swim jig up near shore and when I was about half way from the boat, I heard a huge SLAP in the water. Sure enough, it was this beaver right next to us trying to scare us off. I wasn't paying attention to my lure when it all happened, but I can tell you that I was paying extra close attention the rest of the night. Talk about a wake up call!
  10. I haven't looked into the bait at all so was curious to see if there's some sort of action that it produces that hasn't been made before. I like the idea of how they hide the hook though! Or should I say the Bait Monkey likes it more
  11. What's all the hype behind this lure?
  12. I'm the same exact way. All my confidence is in Dirty Jigs, but I did come across the 6th sense jigs and am giving those a try this year because they have that screw lock and I think my trailers will hold up a lot longer on that screw lock compared to the keeper on the Dirty Jigs. That's my only complaint with them, I just burn through trailers so often with them.
  13. The Milwaukee area currently, just moved over here last fall from Madison. I've been all over the state. Spent many years in Madison, and a handful of years up in Eau Claire. How about you?
  14. How was the water clarity? Willow or Colorado blades? Very nice fish. Before you know it, you'll be going after a 7!
  15. I've been wondering the same thing. I drove past one of my go-to ponds a couple days ago and it was completely flooded, looked more like a lake! Do you think this affects the bass getting ready to spawn? In the past, I have found bass up super shallow when it floods on areas where there isn't normally water, but the water temps were around 65-70 at that time. Definitely curious to see what others have to say on this, great post!
  16. I updated my jig rod with an Expride as well. Did I NEED it? Not in the slightest. So at least we have something in common. And as a fellow Wisconsinite, I'm just trying to help you out!
  17. A lot of the casting models for the Shimano Expride are in stock on TW right now. This is the first time I've ever seen these rods in stock that aren't the 9 footers...
  18. What state are we talking?
  19. Dick's Sporting Goods has a 20% off sale for TODAY only and they are running the buy 3, get 1 free sale as well. I just ordered enough to last me the year or two!
  20. It's just so sickening hearing about this stuff happening so close to home, too.
  21. Shimano Exage did just go on sale on TW for $79.97....
  22. So much for zooming on this body of water!!
  23. Shimano Exage just went on clearance on TW for $79.97. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SHIMNORODS.html?from=basres
  24. X2 for 6'6" MF, would be a very good option for your "walk the dog" baits.
  25. I don't know how you guys do it up there. But when the time comes, there are some true trophy fish up in your neck of the woods so the wait could all be worth it in the end! There's just a lot of gray area in general when it comes to these regulations and I have this talk with myself every year and can never get over the fact. LOL
