Shenago River Lake and Lake Wilhelm
Berlin & Mosquito in OH shouldn't be that far from Cranberry (within 2 hours). There's always Erie! Edinboro is a fun little lake that is unlimited HP.

First woman, ever, to fish the Bassmasters Classic
I hear ya... or from PA! I thought about doing the Opens this year- there is a northern division this year with only 3 tournaments. The entry fees are slightly less and would be cheaper yet because there are less tournaments. They are closer, so gas would be less expensive. But, I'm stickin' with the WBT. Other than the $$$, I like traveling & meeting other women who fish & I can learn from. However, I am also a Federation member (less than a handful of women in my state) and competed in all 3 of my district events and the championship. Didn't have to drive more than 5 hrs. for any of them and the entry fees are VERY cheap. I'm just saying that some of us do try the other tours, as well, and don't have a problem fishing with the guys. I don't have a boat yet, so for me, I'll do it for the experience. Go Kim!

And I'm sure you don't need reminded to go to Giant Eagle and buy a Dick's gift card first before you shop so you can get the gas points as well!!! Don't forget to ask for duplicate receipts so you can send in for the rebates on certain prodcuts (Berkeley usually has rebates.)!! Don't mess with a master bargain hunter! Geez, why did I get started...

Along those lines, if you never signed up for ScoreCard, do so! I have been getting coupons for lures like once a month, for 10 or 20% off total lure purchase, including those on sale.

LCM- No problem, always happy to help!! Brett- I couldn't fish Crooked Creek with my comrades because I was fishing the Women's Bassmaster Tournament in Lewisville, TX. I placed 43 out of 83 co-anglers. On the first day, I did catch fish, though, and one keeper. 2nd day I got totally skunked :'( so I did not make it to the third day. But, catching one is something, I'm on the board with points. I'll hope for better weather and conditions at Lake Neely Henry next month!!! I have a tourney at Berlin this Saturday. I got totally skunked at Loyalhanna, by the way! Good luck, everyone, looks like the weather may finally be breaking- YAY!

Lucky Craft- I have seen a few G. Loomis rods up at Sportsman's Warehouse up on Mt. Nebo point. It is a great store, they have some items not found elsewhere (a few Lake Fork Lures, for example). Some items seem cheaper, some not, so that is spotty. I'm not sure they have the model you are looking for, but its the only store I've seen that has 'em. What about Cabela's? That's not too too far, you could probably round up some friends and make a half a day out of it, anyway. At least they alway have a bunch of other stuff on sale to make it worthy of the gas $$.

anyone fish around johnstown, pa or allegheny county, md??
well, i was only there once but it seemed pretty big to me and a nice store. the one in Washington, PA is even bigger. then again, i wasnt shopping for baits in J-town, just went in over the holidays. sometimes you are better off trying to find things at walmart if you want the cheapest prices, but I find that Gander is pretty reasonable. maybe not that one.

Anyone fish Berlin Lake OH?
i fished Berlin once. Can you spell S-K-U-N-K-E-D?? lol. There was a nice section with lots of trees coming out of the water, looked perfect habitat. But no fish. >

anyone fish around johnstown, pa or allegheny county, md??
smallie- last fished the OH 2x and the mon once. this year, allegheny is on our shedule. but since i live pretty close to the southside, sometimes i fish the Mon there from shore off behind 18th street. Paangler- Gander Mt. in J-town is one of the better Ganders I have seen.

Have fun in FL, Ichi. Well, I went to Peters on Sat. for 45 minutes. Not a bite before it started raining. So, in the meantime, all my money is going toward re-stocking: Gore-tex suit, St. Croix rod, new tackle bag, new crankbaits and plastics, hooks, travel airliner tube for the rods, license... all my Xmas money and pay is funding next year's season! By the way, peeps, there is a $10 coupon in the PA fishing rules book again this year for Dick's. here's how you really take advantage: if you have a VISA Check or Credit Card, see if you can sign up for Visa Extras or Rewards. Go to Giant Eagle w/ your Advantage Card and charge a Dick's Gift Card so you get your gas points and your VISA points. Hopefully, you have gotten or will get a Dick's Scorecard and get the $10 certificate for your points. Even if you dont', make sure you have your Scorecard so your new purchase is eligible to keep adding up those points. Now THAT'S how you can get the most bang for your buck! Oh well. I have changed my display name so it will match my website and such. When i get my website done, I'll give you the address so you can see it. Later!

Good for you, BassFisherman! I fished down at the South Side Riverfront park ramp last Wednesday for a few hours. No bass bites, but I caught a baby sauger on a jointed crankbait. Yuck. After doing all the tournaments this year, I have grown to loathe shore fishing!!

Getting your feet wet
Additional Ideas: Along the lines of LBH reply for charity evens, Team Bass USA has fundraiser tournaments in a few states, and sometimes they waive the member fee, if I am not mistaken. But it is for pairs. http://www.teambass-usa.com/ Some clubs will let you fish one or two as a guest with no committment, as an incentive to try to entice you into the club or so you can see if it is right for you. Worth looking into!
