  1. You can get an 103H or 105H (which would be where I would start) and the spool options are pretty endless. If you get a Steez 103HA (black) or 103SHA (red) spool it has the R+ inductor and though it is not a Gigas material spool, it gives you essentially an Type-R+. The 103M is the Ito reel and is a beautiful reel (I still have two NIB). The 100M would not be my recommendation to start with since I think it has traditional Magforce and the spool options are as great. If I were you, I would look at getting a TD-Z 103H or even if you can find one, an Air Metal TD-X 103H and get a different spool. Good luck...you will be buying more after your first one! Just sayin'...
  2. Is there anyone on here that owns a TD-Z Personal Order and if so, what color and handle configuration? Thanks!
  3. Yep...that 1016H Royga looks really nice! Any word on prices? The SV Light looks like a tuned version of the SS SV105.
  4. Saw this on another forum: https://www.facebook.com/daiwabass/photos/pcb.905029466341964/905027756342135/?type=3&theater
  5. Better outdoor lighting on the reels that arrived yesterday (and the Steez rod which I picked up yesterday for a great deal!) It's currently 13 degrees here with a -4 wind chill! I can't wait to fish these two outfits when the warmer weather rolls around!
  6. Winter has me buying more reels! I got these the other day from a stand up member on another forum. TD-Z/Ito hybrid reel with dress up parts and an SV103XS (OG Zillion) with IS73 spool and dress up parts! And both rods were purchased from a stand up member on here and there (TT). Gotta love this reel body style and all the custom stuff available. Happy New Year everyone!
  7. Sweet! Too bad we don't get many of these Rapala rods here.
  8. That's a great deal! I love those rods...have one for sale now but I am wondering if I should just keep it!
  9. New Daiwa rod and reels... Daiwa Ito/TD-Z 105H with SLP dress up parts, updated star drag, handle, and Steez SHA spool... Daiwa Steez 67MH rod...(with SV103H that I had) SV103XS with 100mm Carbon fiber handle, Steez knobs, Hedgehog parts (purple knob caps, nut, screw), Megabass IS73 spool. Hoping this will look nice on my new Megabass Orochi XX. And the above mentioned Ito/TD-Z hybrid reel.
  10. Nice! Good luck with the new reel! Christmas came early for you at least for some of your gifts!
  11. I have an SS SV103SH too that I like. I have a Steez spool in it and like it much more than the SV spool it came with (which was also a great spool). But the OG Zillion style SV103's are still my favorite reels.
  12. My dad taught me to use casting gear at about 7 or so. He had Abu 4600 reels and a few Daiwa reels too! That was like 1989. He passed suddenly in 2015 at the age of 63 and man-oh-man do I miss him daily. Enjoy your time with your dad if you still have it. Glad to hear this post brought up good memories for some folks. Best wishes on the water.
  13. Where did you find that deal? Who is doing your painting? Looks to be in pretty good shape still. PM with details. Thanks!
  14. I am getting an SV103XS on another site that is coming with a 100mm carbon handle and dress up parts...I am excited and scared! This could be the beginning of a nice relationship with Hedgehog! Hopefully so!
  15. I know the Daiwa SM2A was touted by Bill Dance right around 1978-1980 to compete with the Bantam 100 and the earlier BB-1 reels. I remember my father telling me he saved up like $69 at the time to buy a BB-1 in like 1976/77.
  16. That's awesome! I have a BB-1 Shimano Lew's that is currently on display with some Iovino custom Ambassadeur reels (and a 1958-59 Ambassadeur 6000). But that BB-1 caught me one of my biggest smallies ever (on an old speed stick and a Zorro Aggravator to complete the vintage outfit...that fish was caught in May, 2015).
  17. Way to work hard and earn what you buy! Best wishes on the water young man!
  18. Aside from fishing, I like collecting fishing tackle. I have some older stuff but these reels were just super innovative for their times. The SS Tournament SS1300 and SS700 I have are the original made in Japan models and the Procaster Tournament PT33C and PT33P (also made in Japan) were the cranking and "all-around" model and they also offered a PT33SH with a whopping 7.1:1 gear ratio at the time (1987-2005). As most of you know, the SS Tournament is celebrating its 30th year in production this year...I don't know if there is an unchanged reel on the market that can match that. Let's see some of your vintage stuff...Abu, Daiwa, Shimano, Lew's...I love the nostalgia...it reminds me of being little and checking out the BPS Master Catalog with my dad when it arrived in the mail.
  19. Good to hear the new reels are working on chromers! If they can handle fresh steel, then they can handle any bass in the country without a problem!
  20. Does he have the Ballistic EX or the LT?
  21. The boat is just stock from the factory. Here is what it looks like: https://www.loweboats.com/jon-boats/l1448m-jon/
  22. I picked up a 2008 Lowe L1448M modified-V jon boat with a 2008 galvanized Valu-Line (Sea-Lion) trailer. Included were two wooden Caviness oars with metal oar locks, an Interstate Marine battery and case, a Motorguide 54lb. thrust transom mount electric motor in working shape, and a brand new Minn-Kota Maxxam 55lb. thrust transom mount motor (w/ Weedless Wedge 2 prop). The boat was kept covered under a carport during the winter so it didn't see winter weather inside of it. It seems like a really stable boat with a 70" beam! I paid $1,000 cash out the door for it. Is that a decent deal for the boat? Not sure what they run new or what the trailer costs new but thought I would ask. I would like to put wooden floors in it with marine grade carpet and do some other mods so any ideas would be appreciated.
  23. Cool...I will have to check that out. Best wishes with the new sticks!
