New Article! Bass Fishing Gear Then vs Now: 30 Years of Innovation
Yeah, thanks for the website. I still fish with a lot of the stuff in the picture.

So very cold, but the fish were thick.
You're my hero. We caught 4 bass yesterday in 4 hours.

A few yardsale finds.
You did good. When I'm in FL the yard sales are usually good. I buy whole tackle boxes usually full of northern tackle. On one I bought 2 2500 Shimano Symetree reels for $15.

Give me a calm morning and I can catch some bass.

Wouldn't accept my secret question.
Tried to sign in last evening and the website wouldn't accept my secret favorite lure company. I know it's right.

Canoe v. Kayak
I used to have a 9' sit-in kayak that weighed 35 lbs that I fished in N GA rivers. I could throw it in my PU and go in a very short time. An ice chest fit between my feet and I'd wear a vest with all my tackle. Some low life wanted it more than me and I bought a 10' sot that I still have. It weighs 55 lbs which is way too much for a 130 lb 85 year old man to handle.

Fly fishing for bass?
The first fishing rod I had was a flyrod that my parents bought me when I was about 10. I went to a class at a park and learned how to cast and tie flies. Rode my bike to small streams and caught trout. I have fished for bonita and mackerel in the Pacific and stripers, bass and bream in Lake Lanier until a few years ago when I had a shoulder replacement. It failed and I sometimes have trouble casting a spinning or baitcasting rod and definately not a flyrod.

How many baitcast reels below 6.0:1 do you own?
I have several older Shimano Bantam XHS 5:1 that I bought on ebay when they were high speed. I still use them for everything.

Solid Bag
Maybe you soremouthed most of the bass in your ponds and they won't bite. You're still doing great in comparison to most of us.

catching fish is one thing. cleaning fish, is a whole other thing.
I filet a fish like Bigassbass wrote. When I ocean fished in CA I had a board that I put in a rod holder and a hose that washed the filets and the board. I'd filet while we were running back to the ramp. The seagulls would follow the boat for the leavings that went in the ocean. An electric knife is quite a bit faster than a regular knife. I still filet a couple of fish a month for dinner the same night I caught them. Alabama bass are the second best tasting fish in the lake I fish.

Outfished.
My buddy picked me up at 10:15 this morning and we launched before 10:30. He threw a whopper flopper for the first 1/2 hour with one blowup. Changed to a worm and he caught a good fish on a watermelon orange Senko. I was using a lizzard and a trick worm. We ended with him 7 and me 1 after he gave me the worm he was using. Water temp 71 down 5 degrees from last week.He had some errands to run so we quit at 3:30. Turned out to be a nice day, sunny with very little wind and low 70s.

New bunk sizing question
IMO I see no problem as long as the stern is fully supported.

On board charger.
If the lithium charger is connected to the battery but unplugged does it discharge the battery?

What knot do you tie when you can't tie a palomar knot?

Jigs With Real Buck (deer) Tails
I'm one of the guys that goes to the deer processors and is given as many tails as I can use. I wash them, detick them, salt the hide and use them to tie real bucktails.

Alabamas.
Met my buddy at the ramp at 3 and fished until 7. I mostly threw a lizzard and a worm and he threw a whopper plopper and a worm. We probably spent 2 1/2 hours without a bite then I picked two up on the lizzard. Not counting the 5 he caught in the morning we ended with 7, 4 for me and 3 for him. The largest was my 2.83. Lots of boats out today including a couple of aurf boats with huge wakes. Water temp was 76. He had a couple of blowups on the whopper plopper but all the fish were caught with soft baits in shallow water.
