  1. I've never actually thought of it like that before, which is pretty dumb on my part considering how simple it is. I'll get a smaller line to match my spool and wait until the lake un-freezes so I can use it. ?
  2. Okay, I'll downsize to 8 or 10 pound test. Or switch to braid, which everybody tells me is a must for spinning gear but I've never done it yet.
  3. I usually fish heavier line on my spinning reels than most people and have never had a problem with it. But I recently bought some 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid and I'm having terrible line twist problems on my Pfluger President spinning reel. Any advice? This is my weightless T-rigged senko setup only, I do run lighter line for drop-shots Etc..
  4. Noticed on TW that the Shimano Sellus is now blue instead of white. Anybody know if any components changed?
  5. But being serious. I try not to be picky I just buy good deals and not worry about brands. Mostly Abu Garcia and Shimano. I'm a student so my budget is tight, I can currently only dream about spending $400 on a St Croix or Loomis.
  6. How do you like KK rods? Their reels seem to be pretty good for the price but I was always a little a skeptical about their rods, so never tried one.
  7. Man, working for fishing gear would be awesome
  8. If you have seen any of my other posts, you know I'm trying to build a casting arsenal (6 rods) on a very little budget. Most of my arsenal will consist of first gen Lightning Rods but they do not have a moderate action rod as a option. This rod will be walking a spook 90% of the time, the other 10% it will be running jr. size Whopper Plopper. Looking to spend around $45-55. Please any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! If I have to go $10-15 dollars over I will, but trying not to...
  9. Moss green Power Pro is very common, I run this braid and use a flouro leader on almost every one of my setups.
  10. Dobyns Fury for rod, one of the best rods for around $100, actually about $109 Although I don't own one l, I have fished with one several times and if you just read some reviews you can see everyone else agrees. Shimano Caenan for reel, definitely a beast for $99, The SLX is meant to replace the Caenan and be better, but I personally think the SLX is a little too new and will stick to the Caenon for a while. Good Luck!
  11. Is there much performance difference in 1 piece vs 2 piece?
  12. I'm in HS and on a tight budget, I'm trying to make the best arsenal I can for the littlest price. Which rod is the best for around $40? Ive heard only good things about both and can't decide. Or if you have other suggestions please let me know. Also, has anyone had experience with the super inexpensive H20 rods? The Legacy sells for like $14. Would these be good for moving baits that require little sensitivity or are they junk?
  13. I'm going to get my first Kayak this summer, after doing some fishing in a friends and getting hooked! So I've been doing a lot of research about the best kayak to fit my needs and I've narrowed it down to 5... Now I do not care about speed, tracking Etc.. I only want extreme stand up stability. Cast, set the hook and land the fish without sitting down, and do so without being terrified of flipping. I'll be fishing small lakes 98% of the time, with a few large ponds thrown in occasionally. My narrowed down choices are... Jackson Big Rig Wilderness Systems ATAK 140 Diablo Amigo Old Town Predator 13 FeelFree Lure 11.5 Please share any personal experience you've had with any of these or any suggestions for other kayaks that may be better.. Thanks!!
  14. Congratulated him of course, no point in being a sore loser and then channeled that big fish into my fishing energy and got right back in the water. Shortly after I caught my only fish of the day. Believe it or not he was using a rig said a lot in this thread! (Thanks everyone!) A T-Rigged ribbon tail.
  15. There has been a 8 pounder this month and I was on a boat with a friend who landed a 5 1/2 right in front of me, throwing the same worm I was.....
  16. So I mainly fish a very heavily pressured lake and just want some tips and tricks to catch a nice fish on a pressured area. It won't take much, my PB is only 3 3/4 Which is really embarrassing considering how much I fish.... Thanks!!
  17. I'm only a freshman in HS, 5'7 and 115 pounds soaking wet with boots on, so I should be able to be pretty stable. I would love to have a rigged Jon Boat, but I'll be needing a vehicle soon and it's just not financially possible.
  18. Yes, It's slightly over budget but I'm probably going to buy my yak used anyway, so if it's a lot better, I'll consider it instead, and save just another $150 or so.
  19. I'm planning to buy a fishing kayak this year to take my bass fishing to the next level, since at the moment all I have is a canoe. The main thing I needed above all else was standing stability. So I looked for a fishing kayak that was stable enough to fish in standing up almost %100 of the time, and I couldn't find hardly anything! and the few I did it was ridiculously expensive like the Native Watercraft Titan 13.5. Then I discovered the solution that is slowly becoming more popular. Kayak - paddle board hybrids designed for superior stability for fishing. I did lots of research and i narrowed it down to 2 models. The Vibe Maverick 120 vs the Kaku Kahuna. I'm hoping someone here has some experience and share their opinion. Thanks!
  20. Thanks! @Bluebasser86
  21. Probably a 7'2 or 7'3 MH Fast action
  22. @drew4779 I agree, its a great place that not a lot of people take advantage of, leaving it almost untouched to the few that go further back into the land. Have you fished it? Ive heard some guys are tearing it up right now with a black and blue football head. Before todays cold spell that is....
  23. Thanks!
  24. Thanks @matbellon3 I have looked at the Fury but it's a little out of budget at around $110 to $120..... I may have to up my budget to get a decent rod
