BPT Redcrest Lake Eufaula Feb 22-26
The last time I saw him, he was. I think he is hoping for just a few big bites to propel him. That is what I mean when I mentioned people often know when to switch or move, but they just dont, or wont. Easier said watching from the outside of course.

3rd period should be awesome. At least that is what I am hoping for. KVD mentioned he cannot seem to slow down to flip right now. While Davis was only a few hundred yards flipping and catching em. It is crazy to see sometimes, how they "know" what they need to do, but they just do not want to do it, or it is not their wheelhouse so they don't make the switch.

The great thing about working from home....I get to watch all day. Just mute it during meetings lol.

Active Target
I thought they had a bunch of different mounts that could be used with different setups? Something like this maybe? https://www.djs-marine.com/active-target-forward-down-trolling-motor-shaft-mo.html

It has been picking up every afternoon. I think Wheeler right now is on a school off shore. If he can get the bait right, he will be on to the championship round. I think Birge, and Davis are good as long as they get another bite or so. The issue to me is, what if one of the guys on the bottom catch a couple big ones late...it will get interesting for sure.

I would not count Wheeler out...He crushed it here in the last round of Championship day last year...If he finds that one off shore school, its over....

Well with KVD catching a 5 already, it may be tough to not have him. I would like to see DC get in to the Championship round. He is well overdue for a BPT win.

Favorite Lure and Lure Color for spring/when the bass are on beds
I like to pitch a craw, or creature bait (beaver and bug style) in Okeechobee craw, and if that is not working, then I will go to white or Bama Bug, the orange seems to tick them off a bit!

Hearing JT and them talk...The water is lower...the tournament is later in the month than it was last year (water temps changed)…you would think they would be moving up hardcore, but they do not seem to be as of yet. The water clarity is pretty crappy too in a lot of places. Last year Wheeler won on this slake with his off shore spinnerbait bite. This year it seems people are mixing up Chatterbaits, and Spinnerbaits, but its not as productive it seems. It is not surprising I guess either to be honest...1 day of practice was all that was allowed. There will be a lot of practicing going on from the top 15 guys in the last period today I bet.

5 confidence baits
I use 3.3 or 4 inch paddle tails with just a basic underspin hook like this. I use rage swimmers, mostly. They work well with about any paddle tail. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Vike_Tungsten_Bladed_Swimbait_Hook_1pk/descpage-VIKEBS.html

Walmart Scissors
They are good until you start cutting packages open with them...I did that, and dulled up a pair real quick. I like the rapala clippy thing. They looked like little jaws. The Ozark trail fillet knives for $1.97 or something like that are phenomenal too as long as you keep em sharp of course! I have 5 of them I use for my deer harvesting!

5 confidence baits
I like this topic. Mine would be: 1. Chatterbait (Black and Blue has been the best for me) 2. Creature bait T-rigged (Okeechobee Craw is my fav) 3. Paddle Tail with underspin (White Pearl, or Shad color) 4. Stick worm (whacky or T-rigged) I like Watermelon red, Black and Blue, and a Blue / Green pearl 5. Lipless crank- (I have caught a ton on white, red, and sexy shad)

Advice for first time bass boat build.
I would check out Jacob Wheeler's youtube channel where he discusses why he uses all 3 major brands for units. It may seem silly once you see it, but once he did that, about 5 other pro's went out and did the same thing. He has livescope mounted with a Garmin UHD unit, but still uses Lowrance for I believe SI and mapping. The principle is, there was not one solution that was the best. He mentioned that some things are better on Lowrance than Garmin etc, so he has all of them.

Green pumpkin, the best all around color?
My #1 is OkeeChobee Craw. My biggest, and my most volume days have come from using this color. Rage Craws, beaver and bug style flipping the banks.

Not sure what I did wrong.
I would say congrats for being on the winning boat! Yea it is tough to get skunked, when you see your partner there catching a bunch, and some decent ones. I think days like that really are just a way to innovate your game a little more. Think about what happened, what else maybe you could have done. When I have a great day, I never think about what else I could have done better.

Leaders and Baits
I just throw straight fluoro with my cranks and traps etc. I used to use straight braid for everything especially in SE Georgia. Some places there you only catch 5lb+. But now that I am in Indiana, I had to change some stuff up. It is crazy how your whole outlook and philosophy on bass fishing can change depending on region / location. It can also be very expensive too lol. Thank you, this is basically what I was looking at. I tied it 5 times, and 5 times it came out great!

Leaders and Baits
Thanks guys! I checked out the Alberto, and practiced it a few times. I think that will be my knot as well, as I can do it quicker, and what I believe to look better than the double Uni knot. I will use the leader for my spinning setups; ned, shaky head, drop shot. I only use braid on my casting reels for top water, and punching so I guess I do not need any leaders there. Thanks again!

Leaders and Baits
Hey everyone! I have bass fished for 20 years consistently unless deployed. I just started thinking about using leaders with my braid. I taught myself the double uni knot, and I believe I got it down. My question is, when do I use it? I think I understand if I am throwing a flipping bait that is rather heavy 3/4 + I can use a fluoro leader with the braid. When else is it appropriate or an asset if you will to use it? I am sure this has been covered, but philosophy changes over time, so I would like to get some updated perspectives! Thanks

Fish 2 up front on 18' Fiberglass boat
I have a Triton TR-17. I try to only have about 2 rods or so on the deck especially with someone else. I have two Lowrance units upfront. It is do-able. The key is to be offset from each other side to side. If you are an over head caster, this works out great. If you cast side arm it can be tricky sometimes.

Interesting breakdown on various styles and techniques of fishing.
I like this guy. I have watched some videos on reading graphs better etc. I think my issue with this analysis, is that there are too many other variables when it comes to catching fish. I think some size of baits, and colors, along with weather patterns can skew data like this because the trials of this "experiment" are not in a controlled environment with the same conditions of the experiment every time.

6 baits
My Soft plastics will be: Ned Rig (Robo, Zman) T-rigged Craw (Rage Craw, Crackn Craw) Stick worm (Dinger 5 inch) Hard baits will be: Chatterbait with craw trailer Jig with craw trailer Whopper plopper or buzzbait I catch a lot of SMB on whopper ploppers, and neds in the creek. I have yet to really get on a smallmouth bite in a decent sized lakes or rivers.

I have a bait buying problem.
This is my new problem...I keep looking for more molds, and colors I want to make more baits in. I sure as heck make a ton of neds, beavers and craws....I need some worms, bugs, and some flukes now...if you think buying em is addicting, wait til you start making them, and you like that....
