Post a photo a day!
I was shad fishing 100' from this older couple about an hour before I took this picture. Never thought I'd see them next getting fished out of the Occoquan River.

Kayak drag test
I don't think it is, and I don't think the kayak is in any way to blame. I used it for almost 11 years chasing shoalies and smallmouth in shallow, rocky rivers. When it got to leaking too much, I thought about getting another with the framed seat (mine just had the "pan"). I rented a Jackson Coosa HD, and saw a lot of improvement over the WS Ride 135, but at a cost. The Ride (new) cost me $200 and a used but good condition Old Town Appalachian canoe (in retrospect, not that great a trade). If I'm lucky enough to fish as much in my current river rig, I'll gladly buy another when it wears through.

Kayak drag test
Wilderness Ride 135. I can't imagine that being considered anything other than a fishing kayak.

Kayak drag test
I have drug through a kayak, I didn't realize that it was rare. I patched it several times with Home Depot buckets (no plastic welding, just a heat gun) which held for a while. I cut the kayak up with a Sawzall so it would fit in the recycling bin. The thing that struck me was that most of the wear was at the extreme stern. I'm sure the fact that it was worn down allowed rocks to puncture it as I went over more and more rocks in shallow rivers. At any rate, I think dragging an empty (not even rigged) kayak is a bit different than the kind that happens organically when you run shallow rocky rivers. PE kayaks are tough, though. The guy in the video did miss the definition of rocker, but his deadpanning about trying to find the boat ramp was funny.

What's to like about a kayak?
I don't fish a ton of places with submerged stumps, the few I do (Lake Frederick, Occoquan Reservoir), I can usually stay out of the stumps. I have a pedal drive that I use for these types of bodies of water. The worst thing is when the drive encounters these stumps. It's not fearing the damage to the drive or kayak (although I probably should), it's a jarring stop if you have any speed. If these types of waters are the ones you frequent, a better pedal drive would be the newer Hobies, with the fins that trip and then reset themselves. Alternatively, the Jackson drive flips up, would be an obvious choice. And I don't really fear tipping that much personally when you slide over a stump. I've been canoeing whitewater all my life, so I've swum a bunch, and we don't have piranhas or gators this far north. The issue of horizontal rod storage is a non-issue. Boats like the Hobie Pro Angler already have it, as does my Jackson Coosa HD and many others. If the boat you choose does not, there are so many rod holders on the market that might accomplish staying out of tree limbs, you can just post or PM and I'm sure you'll get good advice here. Your post taught me something - what a pirogue is. The ones I see online better resemble a canoe, but if they would be good for the types of water you fish, I can't imagine a flat bottomed kayak being a poor choice.

Casinos in Richmond Virginia
I don't honestly see it making Richmond a destination. Several of the guys I hunt with and are from Richmond like to gamble and go to Charles Town, WV and other similar places. They said the MGM at National Harbor would bring in some ridiculous number of people every year, and while the project is not a a failure, it didn't live up to the promises. Too many places to gamble, I guess.

Dogwood Tree Watch
Not sure what it means fishing-wise, but the Japanese cherry in my yard came out a couple days ago. I know it means I better service the lawnmower, weedeater, and blower. Dogwoods have budded, but haven't gotten any blooms around this way yet.

This made me laugh ....
Obviously there was a head injury involved, that guy's speech is seriously impaired. I think he's speaking English, but I can't understand a word he says.

Vote For The Top 25 Bass Fisheries In The World!
Yep, I misread the chart. I was looking at the votes for the Fickle Chick and Cooper River, respectively. Briery Creek has a single vote (mine).

Jerkbaits in warmer water?
That's interesting - I've use both those baits with quite limited success with water temps in the 30s. I might have to give them a try this summer. You couldn't fill a thimble with what I know about jerkbaits.

Vote For The Top 25 Bass Fisheries In The World!
I will say the running results surprise me - Briery Creek (which I love) has 13, Sam Rayburn has none.

Show your ride...
It's called an anchor trolley, and there are actually 2 small lines and two pulleys at the end. You can adjust where the anchor 'attaches' to the kayak bow-to-stern somewhat. It allows you to set your anchor so that the boat will stay anchored in cases where the kayak wants to turn and fight the wind. Kayaks blow around in the wind pretty badly, almost as badly as a canoe.

First time for me and got bit.
In the early days of eBay this happened a lot. My brother-in-law bought a racing motorcycle engine block from a seller that was well reviewed but then disappeared after taking his money. My brother-in-law ended up being out a couple of grand after negotiating what he could out of eBay. There has been a paradigm shift, and I believe that the quality of sellers increased on eBay. The bad experiences I have with sellers misrepresenting their products are on Amazon. A used crank would be hard to buy online, but when they're scarce as hen's teeth, what are you going to do? I hope that guy just has somebody pulling parts that made a mistake, and you get that one soon.

Kayak cart for ss127
There are surely thousands of plans to build PVC carts with 5/8" threaded round stock and Harbor Freight hand truck wheels. My latest 1 has tandem axles, and I use non-threaded axles. I have another based on the one Palmetto Kayak Fishing blogged about (that one's probably 7-8 years old, not sure he's still posting). You'll have a little time in it, but these work almost as well as a C-tug or similar and cost a good bit less.

Foam
In all seriousness, paddle craft that are not made out of buoyant material such as ABS have some kind of flotation mechanism. Some build an air tank into the structure or many use styrofoam. Otherwise that polyethylene kayak fills with water and goes straight to the bottom. Might be worth putting back or even replacing

Help Us Celebrate 25 Years!
25 years is forever in Hollywood marriages and internet forums. I like shallow, rocky rivers best. The best one I've fished is the Susquehana (sorry New River, I love you, but she's just better).

Glass rod question
I didn't read that carefully, just saw the ad they sent a while back, and assumed glass meant glass, not composite. My Feel 'n Reel is still a moderate taper, I was assuming they made it that way to make it lighter (it's a 7 1/2' heavy, powerful rod). Still don't know that I'd want a fast tapered glass or composite rod. I love my St. Croix glass rod, though, for crankbaits.

Glass rod question
Not saying I understand it, but here's another. Can't roll the blanks fast enough evidently. https://alxrods.com/collections/zolo/products/zolorumble

Brainfarts while rigging?
I was out on a small lake not too long back rigging a Neko bait up. I was just hearing the shrink wrap to get it tight around the craw and hook when a paddle boarder that I had heard coming up asked for directions back to the landing. I started speaking, and when I felt heat on my fingers, let go of the button on the lighter, but didn't look down. A few more seconds into my directions, she said "Your fishing thingy is on fire." It sure was! My embarrassment doubled as I realized that the reason for my distractedness surely had something to do with the fact that she was probably in her early 20s and looking absolutely fabulous in the tiny bikini she was wearing. I do that with tool boxes all the time, it feels like. I do that with tool boxes all the time, it feels like. I do that with tool boxes all the time, it feels like.

Trailers for finesse jigs
Depending on the jig, chunks like the Paca can wrap around the hook sometimes. I still use the Paca chunk for my finesse jigs, and in certain water, a Missle Baits Twin Turbo (double tailed grub). I would imagine the Rage Menace would do good too.

10 Million Dollar Lawsuit Filed in Obion County Central Bass Team Death
I'm going to have to play my Ph.D. in chemistry card. The answer is no. First, salt forms 2 ions, the sodium cation and chloride cation in water. If we were to take another simple compound that dissociates completely in water, say baking soda, the effect would be different (I'm pretty sure that it would raise the BP less), but you're free to look that up, although I may use a different source. There is no chemical compound 'coffee'. Since my doctoral thesis/project dealt with supercritical fluid chromatography, I'm quite familiar with what is in coffee. You see, the one commercial application of supercritical fluid is in the extraction of caffeine from coffee. I could go on, but there's beating a dead horse too much and I'm sure I've done it here. Short answer, coffee will have a lower boiling point than water. It will vary, since what's in coffee varies.

100 degrees Celsius, 373 Kelvin, and 212 Farenheit. Coffee should boil at a slightly lower temperature.

New to kayak. Scupper holes?
You might want consider a more well thought out pedal drive system, like the Old Town. JK, I like to give the Hobie folks a hard time. @Fred Allen, it sounds as though you're trying to keep it simple at first. That's good. An anchor can be helpful, even under relatively windless conditions. You'll be surprised how much you can drift just threading on a new bait, retying a hook, etc. For some reason you'll always drift under the low-hanging tree with the hornet nest.

Snelling a T-Rig worm
I snell straight shank hooks for pitching (I can't remember the last time I flip cast). It looks neater than a Palomer knot with 65 lb braid. Can't say it helps with my hook up ratio - I still miss plenty. As several have mentioned, I don't know that you'd have a positive outcome on an offset hook.
