Buying my first baitcaster....
that deal doesnt sound too bad to me which im not a pro on baitcasters but i do use them uh i would probably do that deal and the way i got good was tossing plastic worms into my moms circular flower beds so just practice is all it take. good luck and good fishing Gary

can u help me
thank u sir but im fishing in a lake with fairly clear water u can see the bottom at about 3 and a half 4 feet the water temp is around 65 it is kinda greenish water because it is full of grass and the only real cover is all the grass on bottom docks and on one end there are patches of reeds about 10 ft off of the bank and some bullrushes and the depth where the boat is sitting when im fishing is usually around 8 or 9 feet. im a newbe here just would like some tips
well it would be hard bass fishing with real worms i would think because of the perchfish but if u could see the bass it would work. i would take and hook the worm in the middle and try to thread it on there to hide the hook and dont put a sinker on it but if u have too use a small one and cast it in front of the fish all that wiggling should make him bite. but if u can switch to artificials or go to fishing with shiners u will catch more fish and bigger fish with those. Straight or offset worm hooks?
i use straight shank hooks but then i take pliers and grab the point and bend it out to one side a little so the hook goes out to the side i have better hookups that way. Gary

Caught one, missed many
more than likely thats what it was down here in florida and georgia the best speckles perch or crappie fishing is during the cold months and i have seen them busting minnows when it looked like schools of yearling bass so that is probably what u saw. those are better to eat anyway which i dont like eating bass. Gary

What is your opinion on this?
i will admit i do catch bass while on the beds and i do have mixed feelings about this i enjoy the fun but then yet i think that it does put stress on the fish but i always try to get them off as soon as i can and released back to the beds. i will not catch one though if i know for a fact that she has fry with her it could make them scatter and then most of them will be eaten. im a newbe here just would like some tips
my suggestion would be to get a new rig. u dont have to buy a fancy one just buy one in your price range but not one that looks like it is going to break the first time u throw it out. Gary

33 classic and 733
georgiabassfisherman replied to georgiabassfisherman's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and Knotsgreat fish man that is awesome for a kid that age wow what a fish well those 33s are tough man i gottta tell ya i usually dont use the rods that the combos come on i use those when i go bottom fishing or throwin beetlespins for speckled perch and redbreast but me and my dad went fishing in ocala with my uncle and we were catching some nice redfish with those 33s so i have to give them props.

catching big bass on the beds
i can perfelctly understand that but its just too much fun catching those babies while they are ornery and full of eggs i always turn em lose anyway but i will admit it does put stress on a fish and i might not should do it. Gary

catching big bass on the beds
hey guys back home in georgia we use to get in the shallow areas of those lake where the bass were bedding and i had one about six pounds one time just pick up my worm by the tail and then drop it on the edge of the bed. so then i tried a trick that my dad told me. the next day i went back and i inserted a piece of an alkaseltzer cold medicine tablet into my worm. i pitched it in the bed and the tablet started fissing. it just drove that bass plumb crazy she grabbed it and swallowed it. i have used this trick a few other times and it works about 9 out of 10 times.
