fluorocarbon lb for baitcasters?
I never understood people saying stuff about fish seeing thicker line, but at the same time why use lighter lb leaders?

fluorocarbon lb for baitcasters?
Hey BR, I've been using mono and braid on my two baitcaster setups (one for texas rigging and jigs) and the other for my big moving baits (spinners chatterbaits and swimbaits) for my braid setup I use 6lb leaders of fluoro, I plan on switching out these two combos to straight fluoro. what would be a good lb test to start out at? My jigging/Texas combo: Reel: Pflueger President XT, ratio: 7:3:1 Rod: Shimano Sellus 7'0 MH fast Moving baits combo: Reel Enigma ippon, ratio: 6:4:1 Rod: 13 Fishing Defy Black 7'3 MH fast

What technique would you teach to a beginner angler?
why would jigging be difficult? I would insist it definitely is a slower style of fishing but the same can be said about texas rigging, most kids are very impatient with fishing in the beginning, that's honestly why a moving bait is better to start them off with IMO

Never had luck with a dropshot from the bank. It works better if you found a school out on a lake. The boat guys here swear by it.

What technique would you teach to a beginner angler?
This topic I remember seeing back on one of the bassmaster classics back in the day. A guy was going around asking all the pros what style of fishing they would teach/recommend to a kid or new angler. Of course 90% said fishing a plastic worm because of the simplicity of it and how it works year round. I was surprised though because it seemed like none of them brought up any moving baits like spinners or cranks. If I was teaching a youngster or new angler to the sport I would definitely start at spinnerbait, it's probably easier then a texas rig, especially for the impatient kids. Also works pretty much year round. You're just casting and reeling back spinnerbaits. Another style of fishing i'd teach would definitely be wacky rigging. What about you guys? What would you as a bass angler teach a beginner?

A bird stole my swimbait!
Every summer in august I go Fishing for Blues and Strippers down in Delaware and we fish the beach in the mornings, and one day I was in the surf casting a spook into the small waves and a Seagull picked it up and dropped it about 100 feet out into the middle of a blitz. Let's just say that I had a very productive day...

Do bigger bass bite more in the fall?
Hey BR. Over the past month and a half during my outings if I'm lucky to catch a bass with these weird fall conditions which most of the time I am. I have caught very decent fish, 2lbs to or higher which is pretty good for the ponds I fish. Most of the summer I have fished many public park ponds which are usually very pressured and hold a good amount of bass. Most outings during that time slot many bass were either dinks or right at or slighty above the 1lb mark. Since mid September any bass I've been able to catch has been over 2lbs. Pretty much all the dinks have stopped biting and the big ones have come out to feed. Is anyone else getting quality over quantity right now? Or is it just me?

Fall fishing a flooded pond.
Hey all. Recently here in New Jersey the fall bite has been on and off. A couple of days ago this pond I frequently fish was producing for me a little bit while using swim jigs and Neds. But we recently got heavy rain again & the pond has risen it's water back to spring time levels, does anyone know how to fish it in this situation? Especially with the fall being tough already, I went out this morning and the bite was completely off, not even a nibble. It's gonna be awhile before the water level lowers back so please help a fellow angler out. Looking foward to the responses.

Bank fishing tips for the Fall?
The chatterbait bite has slowed down heavily this time of year. I live in New Jersey and the temperatures seem to have finally stabilized, it's been a tough bite but I haven't given up yet throwing texas rigs and chatterbaits. Need to buy some spinnerbaits and TRDs for restock soon anyway.

Why are bass put into golf ponds, quarries and water districts?
To answer your question OP here in New Jersey and Pennsylvania it is the opposite at golf ponds and lagoons, people throw carp and goldfish/other river dwellers in, they destroy ecosystems and plant life, wishy anglers would stock more bass instead of the state doing it over here/repopulating. we do have some golf courses that are absolutely loaded with bass. great fishing if you can sneak in.

First times for 2019?
Catch my first topwater bass. Also trying out braid for the first time and catching a load of bass on chatterbaits. Also this year I managed to master baitcasters and jig fishing. and now have an rod/reel arsenal for my needs. My goals for the rest of the year is to catch a crankbait bast and get one on a willow blade spinner, also work on my topwater bite.

Why are large mouth bass in my pond grey?
I have bass in my local pond that suffer from this, this usually has something to do with pigmentation and dirty/heavily stained water. If the bass aren't getting enough light penetration they don't develop that distinct green with black stripe and black tail that most bass have. They're just light green/gray with little or no black stripe at all.

For the Bank fisherman: How many hours do you fish?
Personally I prefer 3 to 5 hours at max when I'm working a bank at a pond or a lake, I feel like I can test different stuff out and see what's going on, My prefer time is usually in the morning. What about you guys? How many hours do you fish at a pond/lake?

What weight size is better for a slower fall rate?
Gonna be picking up some new bullet weights for my T rigs, what size weight would be better for a slower fall rate? 3/8oz or 1/4/oz maybe 1/8oz?

Bite sucked today
What do you think it is?

Bite sucked today
Yeah man I don't know what's going on right now but it needs to change. Maybe the water temp is still higher than the air temp but I know this though. The fish are definitely there and they're eventually gonna get hungry...

Bite sucked today
Hope so man I keep hearing about fall being one of the best times of year. So far nothing has shown that yet.

Bite sucked today
Finally got a break in my hectic work schedule and managed to get some fishing today at a local lake here in NY. Was able to fish from 7 to 1 PM and I didn't get anything. Started with my frog setup and managed to get one blowup. Topwater bite shut down shortly after that. Started using a booyah chart spinnerbait with willow blades and didn't get anything after an hour. Eventually switched to a jackhammer in Shad and chart and didn't get anything either, the lake I was fishing used to be a brick field so there was lots of open water to cover, this lake holds huge bass and pickerel and I managed to get a solid 4lber there in july. After none of the moving baits worked I figured I should start throwing my confidence bait which is a GP football jig in 3/8oz around cover and didn't get anything except occasional snags and bumps into rocks. Anybody else having a hard time figuring out the fish this weekend? A couple of days ago the bite was on fire but since the temperature dropped the fish around here have been difficult to find in my past two outings.

Good smallmouth baits for creek pools?
Hey all, as a Largemouth Angler I have always been interested in catching brown bass. There's a creek/river about 20 minutes away from where I live (NJ) and it holds Brown bass. Can anyone recommend anything to throw in those pools? Maybe some grubs or NED rigs? I'm new to all this so I was thinking maybe spinners? Look foward to the responses.

Goals for the winter...
Finally get my rod arsenal up to 5 baitcasters and upgrade my finesse rod, also start saving up for a boat so next summer I won't be limited to bank fishing.
