  1. I do but the reason I am asking is I’d rather have permission but I will sneak into ponds when I want to. Also to see if anyone knows of stacked ponds.
  2. I totally agree with this just there’s one problem. I just moved here and literally know 3 people and they don’t fish. Also I can’t go to school because mine is online and it’s not optional. Thank you for the suggestions too I’ll look into them. That’s the heroine needle lake. I’ve gone to fountain grove twice and have only caught one small one. It looks good but all the catches I’ve seen have come on kayaks and like floats. I might just be making up excuses cuz I’m cheeks at fishing. I do want to try the Russian River though and catch my first Smsmallmouth so I’ll look into it. Thanks for the reply.
  3. I’m trying to find a pond I can fish for fun since where I live has the worst ponds ever. I live in Rohnert Park California and I’m looking for a pond that is within around 30 min of driving. I’m only 14 so I’m pretty limited on where I go. If you own a pond and would give me permission that would be nice too. I am looking for a new pond because all I have are a duck pond at a university which has some fish but not a lot. Same thing with this golf course pond but your not supposed to even fish it and it’s still not good because weird people take fish out of there. We have a lake but it’s more of a pond. Even that sucks. That’s the only place I haven’t caught a fish. It’s sad because I’ve heard of big fish in there but There are so many ducks and poop everywhere. Garbage is littered along the ground and you will have some homeless and some people smoking weed around the lake too. I was talking to a guy and he told me people throw heroine needles in the lake. It’s sad to see. I come from a town in Indiana littered with amazing ponds and a fabulous lake. I will fish Spring Lake and other places too but I just want a little pond to myself. I would definitely go to Clear Lake more if it wasn’t an hour and thirty minutes away. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate them. I know I am not gonna get many if not no replies because this is so specific but I know this is a place to go when you need info and I might as well give it a shot. Thanks to anyone who reads this and I hope you have a great day ?.
  4. I’m probably throwing 25 lb fluoro. I see what ur saying with this JJ. This helps make my decision easier.
  5. I am looking at a Tranx right now for big single hook softbaits (What I mean by big is between 6-10 inches). I don’t know which one to choose because I know the 400 is not actually as big as most people would think but I don’t want to get a reel that is bigger and bulkier than necessary. I was going to get a Calcutta B but they don’t have any left hand retrieves (I’ve only checked on Tackle Warehouse though). If I could get some insight that would help make my decision easier.
  6. So the general consensus today is still that 6.4:1 to 6.6:1 is ideal for squarebills. I have noticed though an uprise in high speed cranking. Between 7.1:1 and I’ve even seen even up to 8.1:1 gear ratios. I was thinking about getting a high speed reel because it’s easier to just slow down with a high speed reel than speed up with a traditional 6.4:1. Ive been looking at a Lew’s Speed Spool with a 7.5:1 gear ratio (The ipt is 1 inch faster than a 7.1:1 Chronarch MGL, basically identical in retrieve speed). I think there are more upsides to high speed gear ratios but I just want to get a general opinion first.
  7. I’m interested in a dedicated all around glide bait rod. I’m really interested in the 7’11 orochi xx leviathan. Even though it’s an xxh, it has a moderate fast tip and bends pretty deep. I watched the vid with Chris Zaldain and he demonstrated how deep that rod bends and it BENDS for an xxheavy. It’s rated for 2-8 oz. I bet I could getaway with even like smaller open hook baits, but I have a rod for that.
  8. I’m looking into a good all around glide bait rod and I was looking at these rods and wondered if this was a good rod. The rods loads deep into the blank and has good backbone. It is rated for 2-8 oz lures so that’s where I get the all around aspect from. I’d prefer to here from someone who has had either of these rods but I’ll take any advice. I bet I could also get away with throwing smaller single hook bait on it too.
  9. I am looking into a new all around swimbait rod. I’m trying to decide one that can throw something from 2-6 oz lures. I can throw the smaller swimbaits on a 7’4 heavy rod. The rod should be able to handle open hook and treble hooked bait. Again, basically everything. I know it’s not common but I know they are out there. There are a couple rods I was looking into. The mega bass leviathan in the levante or the orochi. I also wanna try the 8’ heavy+ moderate-fast Shimano expride. My budget is at max $310. I saw that the imx pro 8 heavy could throw lures rated 3-8 oz, so I wondered that if I got the expride 8 heavy +, I could throw bait in that range even if rated for a max of 3 oz. By the way what does heavy + mean? Is that like a magnum heavy?
  10. I find this crazy but I have searched into all those rods and they all seem to look good for the tactics i am looking at.
  11. I'm looking into a new finesse rod and I want something that can do it all. By that I mean throw wacky rigs, drop shots, ned rigs, and shakey heads. I want something in that 7'3 range because i predominantly throw ned rigs and wacky rigs. At the same time I wanna start throwing drop shots and shakey heads, and a 7'3 isn't too long yet I can still get more distance with a bait than with a 7'0. I don't know if I should throw a medium or medium light. I was thinking of getting the Shimano Zodias in their old model in the 7'3 medium light but I feel like it would be a little light for shakey heads. It can be done but not effectively. If you have rod suggestions that would be great. I would prefer the brands like Shimano, Dobyns, G-loomis, Daiwa, St.Croix, and even Megabass.
  12. Ik that bait will prob crush out on points on clear lake during the prespawn
  13. I just feel like a medium is to flimsy for a dobyns with even a moderate fast tip. I just feel like for lipless baits too I can’t rip threw grass well. And on that 1.5, I can’t even move them out of grass if I even hook one.
  14. I’ve been debating on what rod to get for 2.5’s,1.5’s, and lipless cranks. I think the dobyns champion xp cranking rod in the 705 with a moderate fast tip. I’ve heard it’s got really good bend but I feel like a 1.5 is to small for that rod. I’ve heard dobyns makes their rods a little lighter than advertised though. I’ve tried a 7’6 medium heavy moderate fast and it cast and hooked into fish just fine but it felt too long. I’ve tried a medium fast but it didn’t give a delay in the hookset which put one treble in the fish. I lost so many fish. So that is why I think the dobyns champion do cranking rod in 705 is best. I’m moving to California and I watched tactical bassin’s vid and they use the same rod for 1.5 and 2.5’s. I also like throwing cranks near grass, so that medium heavy will help me horse those fish out. Just as a bonus could I get away with throwing 4.0’s on that rod? Thank you for the responses.
  15. I fish a lot of open water and rocks with squarebills and not much in grass. Im making a rod purchase and idk if I should go with the M/MF or MH/MF. I feel like the medium power would be super flimsy but the medium heavy would be too stiff for what im using it for and I think there are many other baits to substitute for a squarebill in grass. Thats just what i think. And should I go graphite or glass? Thank you for the feedback. Btw generally throwing 1.5's up to 3.0's most the time.
  16. They are both higher end rods. The G-Loomis E6X is 209.99 while the Daiwa Rebellion is 199.99. Both are going to be medium heavy moderate fast rods but the Rebellion is a 6’10 while the E6X is 7’0. I’ve heard great things about the E6X but the Rebellion came out this year and I can’t find much feedback on it. I want to see if anyone has used it and get their opinion on it to make a decision.
  17. What do u consider a good all around squarebill rod
  18. That’s nice to know. I owned mh/mf and it felt great but it was a 7’6 which did not help with confined areas
  19. So I have been using a 7’0 medium power fast action rod for squarebills and I have noticed that I would get them in with 1/3 or 2/3 of a treble in their mouth or lose them at the bank. I did some research and it seems like anything with a moderate to moderate-fast tip is best. It gives delay in the hook set so the fish can eat the bait then you set the hook. Power wise it is generally between medium and medium heavy. So I was thinking of buying the G-Loomis E6X Crankbait Casting Rod in the medium heavy power moderate fast action. I think the rod would have good back bone to drive the hooks into the fish and the tip to keep the hooks from being horses out. I would like though to see what others use. I live up in northwest Indiana and there is a lot of rip rap but also lots of places with grass so I’m just trying to find an all around squarebill rod. I’m generally throwing 1.5’s and up to 3.0 squarebills. Thank you for the feedback.
  20. I own the Lew’s Custom Lite Speed Stick in a 7’0 medium power fast action. This is my squarebill rod. I throw only a 1.5 up to a 3.0 at MAX. I’ve been surfing the web and it seems like people use a medium heavy power moderate-fast action rod for squarebills. Should I change? My thought process for why I throw squarebills on this rod is because I don’t throw big magnum crankbaits on this rod, but mainly smaller squarebills. Mainly 1.5’s and 2.5’s
  21. I’ve been searching for a 7’4 medium light power with a fast action tip but only found one that I felt comfortable in and that was the Dobyns Champion Extreme HP spinning rod. If anyone finds this specific length, power, and action, please share it cause I really don’t feel like spending 349.99 dollars on a rod.
  22. I own a 7’4 HEAVY power MODERATE-FAST action and I was wondering if that’s too long or short or too flimsy of a tip. It’s a favorite balance rod not the one by flair.
  23. I have a reel that has a 28 IPT and I was wondering if that would be fine. Btw it’s a bait caster and IPT stands for inches per turn.
  24. I’ve seen so many fish caught on this bait. I have so many questions. Here they are: - What rod power, action, and length - Spinning or baitcasting - If baitcasting, what gear ratio - Can you throw all jerk bait sizes on 1 rod? - What line depending on spinning or baitcasting - What colors of jerkbaits should I get Thx for the responses
  25. It came to my mind as I was watching a video and I thought “Is a wacky rig senko finesse?” You generally throw it on spinning tackle and if this is finesse would a 7’ medium light fast action rod good for this.
