Florida guys, where you at?
it's good lure. it goes anywhere and it has vibration and it's not scary. I use the smaller one not the magnum. all the normal stuff. flip it in the grass. drag it on the bottom. hop it, swim it and twitch it keep moving until you find a dumb one because you know they're looking at it. sometimes I let it sit on the bottom for 20 seconds in a good spot. I buy those super cheap teeny tiny glass rattles off Amazon and smoosh them in there or switch to a neko rig it's good for covering lots of water and its a vertical presentation if they don't want the swimming thing

Southern Ohio rivers/streams fishing tips
Any luck on the rivers lately? We fished 30 miles of Paint Creek and Scioto only got 5 to 10 each per day l. Mostly small Kentucky bass, a couple of smallmouth, few wipers and the rest were drum and catfish. Got bites on rip rap on deeper bends and one out of every 100 logs, and only a couple riffles produced. Mostly texas rig and slow moving swimbaits. A few spinnerbait fish also. There were shad everywhere. how do you guys catch them? thanks

How to Ice fishing rod?
My brother asked me to build him an ice fishing rod. Im in Florida and have never ice fished. -He fishes for 9-18” trout mostly. -His only request was -fast action, medium power -32” roughly with good backbone. -2-4 lbs line Lure is a berkley white powerbait grub on a tiny tungsten jighead. He also said if I had a better idea after some research to go ahead and make what was best. how would you build it? Something good quality. He normally uses Abu Garcia Veritas ice rods for reference. thanks

Tips for guide alignment
I just finished my first rod. Turned out very nice and my guides are very straight, but I had to work really hard checking and tweaking and checking and tweaking, and sometimes undoing thread because I couldn’t move the guide underneath it with my fingers. How do you guys get your guides straight? Is it likely that I put too much tension on the thread? Should I be able to move the guides easily? Or with firm pressure I had everything lined up with tubing, but when I would wrap them, the foot would start to drag a little more with each wrap in the wrong direction and then I would have to fix it. are there different methods of starting and finishing a guide or just the basic one that everybody uses on YouTube? thanks.

How did I miss the topwater bite?
Agreed. I think they’re looking for something stunned and helpless. Or they hit their target the first time and are gone when you cast

What's your best bassin' skill? And your worst?
Best-flipping brush for numbers and finding them on deep weed lines with a neko rig. worse-keeping a Chatterbait tied on long enough to get big bites. Way worser- deciding THAT is the best spot and making an idiot cast that ruins the spot for an hour

Vehicle Recommendations for Bank/Kayak Angler
Subaru Crosstrek. I have done exactly what you’re describing. Cheap. Great on fuel. All wheel drive. Easy to maintain. Reliable. Turns sharp. Fits anywhere. Goes everywhere. Guilt free adventure vehicle. 9” of ground clearance. I could fit several 7’6” rods in the front seat at an angle. 8’ if I had to. Roof rack is good for 150 lbs. Thule or Yakima fit.

How does your boat handle?
I guess I thought I was following the rules (shrug) I never thought to ask them if it was ok to power load… There’s some really grumpy old dudes out there that will tattletale on you and call the FWC. There’s a check in station. They’ve got wildlife biologist and game wardens etc.

How does your boat handle?
Good point. I agree I need more practice. I’ll give an example- I fish a lot of trolling motor only lakes. When I put the boat back on the trailer I troll to the trailer at a medium speed and a straight line on a calm day with the big motor all the way down, lift the trolling motor a few feet before I hit the trailer and try to coast the rest of the way to the trailer, get out and winch it up. As soon as I lift the trolling motor the boat almost always loses course and I feel stupid and have to use the paddle to get straight again. It’s almost like there’s not enough keel or chines or something. Or maybe my expectations are wrong. I took out 100 pounds of lead batteries from the front and replaced them with lithium. Could that affect handling?

How does your boat handle?
-What boat do you have? -Does it have precise control when you’re using the trolling motor? -Can you hold your spot in the wind without kicking right and left? (not using spot lock) -Does it coast strait when you let off the trolling motor. I get frustrated with my Crestliner fishhawk 1650 using the Garmin Force. If I’m trying to hold position in the wind (without spot lock) the boat will tack left and right quite a bit. I have the big motor trimmed all the way down and I mounted the trolling motor as close to center line as possible. My best guess is the boat is short and very wide and not designed like the big fiberglass performance Boats. Before this boat I’ve only had really nice kayaks. Old town predator PDL. Wilderness systems etc. and they’re so easy to control. Thanks

Haines City/Winter Haven 3-21/3-25 small lake suggestions for kayak fishing????
Try Tenoroc State Fish Management Area Between Haines City and Lakeland. Do some research they’re only open four days a week. Lake Swoope is nice. Usually Clearwater with lots of lily pads and eel grass.
