jerkbait setup help needed
From my experience I have the most success with them when it's slightly overcast with a little chop on the water. In the clear waters I fish ghost colors seem to work best for me.I fish places with a lot of vegetation and a jerkbait worked over the grass or on grass lines produces even in the dead of Winter in Colorado. It's one of my favorite techniques.I use a shorter rod being a shore angler.I prefer a spinning set up 6'8 MXF Mojo Bass with a Daiwa Legalis 2500 LT 6:2:1. 20lb Berkley X9 braid to 10lb Sunline Assassin leader. I also change my hooks out to Gamakatsu Nano finesse (super sticky). You wanna make sure you've got super sharp hooks.Caught my biggest fish so far this year on a Luckycraft pointer 78 5.7lb LM

Trying to decide on a jerkbait rod, looking for advice
I also use the SLX 6'10 medium. Cheap rod and it does the trick:)

When to shut it down for the year?
I'm still catching a couple every trip on reaction baits in Colorado. I don't care how cold it is as long as there is open water:)

Highly Pressured pond techniques
The Mojo rig or Split shot rig are very effective in clear pressured ponds. Usually I pair it with a green pumpkin chartrueus yum dinger or roboworm in Bold Blue gill and have caught loads of fish on it. You should also try the weedless Ned technique using a #1 size Robo straight shank hook with a yum dinger or weedless neko, both are very effective in grass filled ponds One other thing to keep in mind, sometimes up sizing and throwing the big stuff also works. I've caught plenty of big girls throwing Swavers and big Swimbaits on pressured ponds

Time on the water:)

Is there a fall transition in ponds?
Yes. I've had to finesse them lately. The fish get a little funky especially if you have a lot of turnover from decomposing grass. I'm catching them in the deeper holes right now

Am I the only guy who doesn't replace hooks?
I fish my 110's with stock hooks and have caught fish up to 5lb on them. I don't live in big Bass water so the only reason to change would be if the bait came with really crappy hardware. I've never had a problem
