What ww2farmer said. This is the way I do it too. Some people use alcohol, this kind of freaks me out. I'm always afraid to try this. :-?

stren braid vs. power pro.
I never had the Stren break - ever. If my bait was hung and it wouldn't come loose I had to cut the line several times. Maybe you had a bad spool? Did you buy several packs over time and still had the same problem? What type of knot? Yes it was several spools over a period of 2-3 years. I use the palomar knot. I know it wasn't the knot because when I got hung up the line would break at about half of it's pound test rating. Like I said, the line was fine at first, then after a while I would experience this problem. I just got tired of losing fish on hooksets and made the switch. Problem solved for me.

stren braid vs. power pro.
Avid, the only thing I can tell you is from my own experience. I'm sure your gonna get mixed answers as always but here it goes. I used to use the Stren braid and Spider Wire until I found this forum. They both are good at first until after about a month of use, and then you will see why I no longer use them. Hooksets become lost fish with a hook still intact in the fish's mouth. > They both dry rot or something. :-[ I started reading this forum about seven months ago and through recommendations from members I now only use Power Pro and have started using Sufix a little. Have not had this hookset problem since. I hope this helps a little. Blaine,

How Do You Partial Quote?
I was wondering how to do a partial quote instead of doing a whole quote where it shows the whole paragraph someone has written? I see other forum members doing this but when I try to copy only the part I want, it doesn't come out right after I post it. :-? I hope this makes sense and sorry ahead of time if I confused everyone. ;D Thank you as always. Blaine,

lily pad lunkers
actually, it's Lake Stephens, any specific pointers? I haven't fished Lake Stephens since I lived in Beckley almost 15 years ago. If memory serves me right, we always done well on spinnerbaits, black to be exact. Where are the lilly pads on Stephens? :-? I don't remember any the last time I fished there. It sounds like everyone has given you quite a few things to try out and keep you busy for a while.

lily pad lunkers
If this local lake is like Plum Orchard Lake that you speak of, I have done well there with Flukes and Senkos right at the edge of the pads. It has always been late of an evening though.

What is the most expensive lure you have?
Megabass Scream-X Jr. in Bass color. I think I give $48.00 after shipping on Ebay. Too pretty to fish with. I can't imagine losing a $48.00 lure. ;D

Jig Fishing
I tell you what helped me the most. Get yourself some lighter jigs (3/16, 1/4 oz.) when fishing these stumps and laydowns. You fish that thing like you do a plastic worm. Throw it in all the places you throw that worm. Don't worry about that mystical bump that you've heard so much about. :-? When that fish sucks that jig on the fall (75% of the time), it will feel real similar to that bite on a plastic worm. When they hit it on bottom, it will also be similar to the worm bite. I have found from my own experience that bass hold on to the smaller jigs longer than the bigger ones. This smaller jig will build your confidence faster. The main important thing is to not give up. 8-) Blaine,
