I like the YUM chunk in the 2.5 inch size. I tend to fish a smaller profile jig most of the time, usually 5/16 or smaller.
  4. I use both, not really any personal preference, which ever one my fingers touch first. ;D
  5. I would go with the spinnerbait for a while and see what that gets you. I always hook a few pushing the 5-6 lb. mark in in the spring on spinnerbaits.
  6. No problems with mine at all, had it for about a year now and still looks like the day I got it.
  7. Hey LBH I'm with ya on the UPS thing. I was just looking forward to getting this rod and then I get it delivered yesterday in that kind of condition. Luck of the draw sometimes, can happen to any company or individual. At least the UPS guy was in good humor about it! :)
  8. I actually have four of these rods. I have the older models with the dark blue blanks. 2 6'6" M spinning, 1 6'4" M spinning, and 1 7' MH spinning. I broke two (6'6") and replaced them both. I have had them for two years now and use them for river smallmouth on float fishing trips. Pretty good rod for the money. I paid $49.95 for all of mine. You got a great deal! Wish I could have found them for that.
  9. Lots of good people and info on this site. This is the #1 site on the web. :)Welcome Aboard
  10. I didn't know you were a West Virginia fisherman, welcome abord! I'm a WV fisherman myself. We should talk via PM about some honey holes in the mountain state. I sure am!! ;D I have been following your posts for quite some time now and have finally joined this awesome site. Real glad I did!!
  11. Texas rig for me too, usually with a 1/8 tungsten bullet. I have started experimenting with the shaky head and drop shot styles though.
  12. I gonna say 6lbs. 4oz. Pretty respectable fish in my book. I don't know though, that belly is awful big....Might go 6lbs. 8oz. ;D
  13. Hello radiob, A few of the lakes I fish locally are strictly C&R for Black Bass. I love it and think most of of the majority of the anglers that fish these lakes would like to see this state wide. Some of the lakes such as Summersville, Burnsville, and Sutton are not C&R but have a healthy population due so many anglers that practice this method. Have a Great Day!!!
  14. Well one of my Kistler rods (He2 7' MHC) came by way of UPS just 10 minutes ago and guess what? The tube was bent in half!!! > I took the rod out in front of the UPS guy and he said, "Is it a two piece?" I said," It is now!" He took the rod back and I guess I will have to file a claim or something. I really wanted to fish this rod this weekend. :-/ Oh well.......Doo Doo Happens!!
  15. Buzzbaits!! I like the Cavitron and the Strike King brands. I also fish with Sammys a bunch.

Man, I don't know what is up with this topic but I started reading it, and then started laughing, and then started violently coughing with Dr. Pepper coming out my nose!!!! You guys are CRAZY. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  17. When ever I get a bump like that I always follow up with some form of plastic worm or creature bait. Seems like I have more success with the plastic worm though.
  18. I usually take two peanut butter sandwiches and two apples. This also comes with a couple cans of Coke and a gallon of water. I have to drink alot of water on those hot days, I get a real bad headache if I don't. 8-)
  19. Hello Aaron, I also vote for the community petition. This sounds more like a city project than a state project. I would start first a the local courthouse in the records room to find out if it's a city owned impoundment or a state owned impoundment. I hope it is city owned because you will get a faster response.
  20. Every Rod I have ever ordered has come by way of UPS. As a matter of fact, getting two Kistlers delivered tomorrow. I think it must vary from place to place. I haven't had a problem yet with this company, besides I think the delivery guy must be a fisherman because every time we talk we always get on the topic of fishing. I think he knows what is in those tubes....LOL ;D ;D ;D
  21. I like my Merc, she gets a little grumpy sometimes on those cold morning starts. Kind of reminds me of well.......ME!!! LOL ;D ;D ;D
  22. All I can say is WOW!!! :o
  23. Thank all of you guys for the warm welcome so far. From all of the lurking I have done in the past I just couldn't stand it any longer to sit back and just read the posts. There are so many ways my fishing has improved after reading so much. I guess the main thing that has improved is sometimes you just have to sloooow down. I have learned alot about that after discovering this site. I am no rookie to bass fishing but I realized that everybody has there own unique way of doing it and sometimes if you apply that method into some of your own methods that is all it takes to get that critter to bite. I wish I would have only started posting sooner during the winter, it may have helped to get rid of the cabin fever a little bit. Not long now till the temps start to rise......Come on spring!!!! ;D ;D ;D Blaine,
  24. Nice Hawg!!! That's a pretty big fish in my neck of the woods. Glad to see it!!!! ;D ;D ;D
