What’s the most recent lure(s) you have adopted?
Well by golly he had me sold with his sales pitch then because he felt like an ole Mack truck when he hit it lol

What’s the most recent lure(s) you have adopted?
BPS ribbon tail worm in Red Bloodline. This thing caught the biggest bass for me this morning at three pounds and made a believer out of me for the brand. Culprit normally holds the crown in ribbon tails for me, but I figured it was a good time to try the BPS brand out because I have had them in my bag forever and sure nuff it got the job done. Definitely going to experiment more with them.

When A Fish Misses A Shaky Head...
75% of my shaky head bites are on the fall especially when fished right on cover. I do retrieve the cast in the event of a miss rather quickly.

BPS catalog '21
I ordered mine and I think it was roughly three weeks later that I got it. That was in mid swing of COVID too.

What’s wrong with me! No motivation to go fishing?
This. This is why I love bank fishing and don’t so much mind not having a boat. I get tired of fishing the same holes quite often so I usually make it a point to try a new lure or at least a different color of a productive lure while walking for miles to get to different spots. Yeah it sounds crazy but I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and the exercise to boot because lord knows I need it and the time to clear my mind in the process is invaluable. It’s times like your having when I pull out those lures that I bought on a whim that never got used for lack of interest or something other and I have been surprised quite a few times with that method.

What's On Your Deck?
Wow I guess I’ll be the first shaky head fan on the list! If I had a deck they would be listed as follows: 1) Shaky head 2) T-Rigged craw 3) 3/8-1/2 oz chatterbait with bio spawn swim bait trailer 4) Jig for bouncing off the bottom 5) Spinner bait

Hardbaits VS Plastics & Costs...???
Glad you mentioned the YUM Dingers because they are worth it! I will also give a shout out to the BPS stik-o’s too. They are really good for the money.

Interesting experience at BPS yesterday....this ever happen to you?
Same here. June 17th ship date for an order I placed on May 30. $40 worth of squirrel tail and grande bass shaky head plastics. I will admit that the bulk of what I buy at my local BPS is mostly FC and soft plastics. My local Walmart only has a very few select colors of zoom and culprit plastics which for the most part forces me to go to BPS and pay a dollar more because TW is still taking forever to ship. I do however, enjoy actually handling a rod/reel in person there and looking for it cheaper online if I can find it cheaper.

Culprit worm curiosity got the best of me today
Watermelon Red Flake Core Has this been a producer for you guys? I couldn’t resist picking up a pack with a pack of Yama Black and Red Senkos. I’ve been eye balling them for awhile and today I decided to pick them up finally. Definitely a great looking worm I think and I hope it’s gonna get some big ones!

Any one hit wonders that just haven’t made a return for you?
I’ve had very little luck on that setup myself. The last time I even got a bite on a t-rigged senko was a Googan lunker log in white.

Any one hit wonders that just haven’t made a return for you?
I must not be holding my mouth right or something haha great fish! And that’s why I haven’t completely given up on the ribbon tails. I feel like I am destined to see success again lol

Any one hit wonders that just haven’t made a return for you?
Years and years ago, I couldn’t catch a bass on anything except a ribbon tail worm t-rigged. The Riverside brand of worms had a ribbon tail that was close in color to Tequila Sunrise that would absolutely murder the bass every trip. I haven’t caught a bass or even had a bite on a ribbon tail in so long….I don’t know what I’m doing wrong with them lol What would that lure be for you?(if this problem exists for you).

Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai - Line Review
How much did you have to spend on that Daiwa line? Edit: I just priced it on TW and it was $33.99 for 220 yards of 14lb….? good lord. I’ll stick with my tried and true Seaguar Red label lol I do appreciate your report friend. If I manage to find some on a good sale I will no doubt give it a fair shake.

Too much tackle…what would you use?
I too started buying mass amounts of different lures all because of what the other guy said was hot on the water at any given time….for them. What I ended up actually using was what was working for me. So I too have an arsenal of mostly unused stuff, but it’s still practical stuff like colors of worms that will work that I haven’t got around to actually using. In the last year, I have narrowed my arsenal down to what has continuously worked and that is the shakey head, the chatter bait, jigs, and Texas rigged worms/creatures. Of those choices the jig is the less producing lure, but it still produces. I stopped buying crank baits because no matter how much KVD or another big name catches with them, I still couldn’t catch anything with them. In other words, you need to stick with what works for you and not spend your money based on what works for the other guy. That has helped me the most.

General life expectancy of spooled line?
Yeah it could very well be my technique or lack there of. Honestly, I do just fine with FC and braid was mostly something I wanted to try with top water. I can manage what I need perfectly fine with the FC because shakyhead, chatterbaits, T-rigged craws take up the majority of my fishing time. If I ever decide to put together a dedicated bed rig setup then I’ll put some braid on a spinning reel and my luck may be different. Ned rig setup*
-
General life expectancy of spooled line?
That’s normally what I do as well, but for some reason they are way worse in entanglement than FC by far. I honestly don’t have patience to set for a half hour and pick through knots that seem impossible. I just cut it out and off and spool up with FC and good to go.
-
General life expectancy of spooled line?
The bird nests I have with braid are far more catastrophic than bird nests with FC for me. Maybe I’m not spoiling tight enough?
-
General life expectancy of spooled line?
How often do you change the line on your gear given it lasts long enough? At this point I’m a once to twice a season respool depending on if I have my days where I’m getting hung up a lot and having to cut the line or a bird nest results in a respool. Braid for me is nearly a 100% guaranteed respool I guess because of inexperience with it. Haven’t fished with mono since I tried FC except for catfish rigs on spinning gear. Edit: I think I missed my own point partially above, do you ever have to respool due to line that is old and degraded?

Fishing Alone
I do enjoy the company of my wife on fishing trips a lot. I feel very fortunate that my spouse loves to fish too and sharing that feeling of hooking a 1lb monster never gets old especially with that look on her face every time lol. She is however seven months pregnant at the moment so she hasn’t been fishing with me the last few months. My son will one day be joining me on our fishing trips and I honestly cannot wait.

To the best of your memory, what was the lure you caught your first bass on?
Candy bug has been a recent produced for me as well.
-
To the best of your memory, what was the lure you caught your first bass on?
For me I was nine years old and It was a Riverside ribbon tail worm in what I remember being a tequila sunrise color worm. I know for a fact that I did not tie it in the proper manner for the technique but I was determined no one was going to help me do this as I was grown enough to handle it. Third or fourth cast and I had my first bass with a straight retrieve on a zebco 33. I felt like I had taken a huge step towards fishing stardom in that moment lol My love for riverside plastics was confirmed that day and I bought a lot of their lures and plastics with my own money starting that very day!

Fishing on holiday weekends?
This is why I opt for week days off from work when possible and my current job has me working every single weekend with three days off during the week. I’d rather work when everyone else is on the water and the fish when everyone else is at work.

When to change color vs lure
Agreed with the above poster. Color only plays a small factor.

Zoom, done?
I actually have more Zoom products than YUM, but I will second the opinion that they are amazing plastics. Most of my bass caught last year were on YUM cranberry finesse worms in all colors of water.
