  1. The academy we frequent 20 miles from home is pretty good about keeping the shelves and peg hooks full.
  2. You and I are very alike in that we want to be left alone while we are out and about. So far I have managed to avoid altercations entirely, however I do know that day will come.
  3. I really enjoyed the cheap Riverside soft plastics that Walmart kept their clearance bins stocked with. Best .99 packs of plastics on the planet.
  4. That actually crossed my mind but I didn’t want to just come out and ask lol
  5. I’m a fanatic of fishing the shaky head technique and I’m always looking for new plastics or ideas to build on. So what’s your most productive plastic and color? For me, Zooms tried and true trick worm holds the torch in my race particularly in June bug with black/scuppernong/watermelon red holding up the rear. I’m really itching to try Big Bite squirrel tail plastics next.
  6. Creature. More precisely the craw. I did find the color in the stick-o worms and someone else pointed out the bug creature that the color was available in as well.
  7. Just wait until your boat motor is all electric too.
  8. I’m looking into all the brands mentioned as we speak. Thanks guys!
  9. He doesn’t prefer my method of success(shaky head) so I think we are good haha. He’s a jig and crank bait type of guy and if his stories are true, then he’s the next KVD.
  10. I’ve been using Spot Remover jig heads from Walmart and they work, but goodness the hooks are absolute garbage. I had some Luck-E-Strike jig heads that I got from somewhere I can’t remember and they are decent. I’m looking to expand on my brands of jig heads and we’re wondering what y’all use?
  11. So my boss at work is an avid bass fisherman and he and I were talking Texas rigs the other day and he mentioned a color exclusive to the BPS brand of plastics that I cannot find…crawberry. He said the last time he went to bps he bought the entire peg hook full of them and hasn’t seen them since. Well I can’t find them either. He said they were a huge producer for him and I’d like to try them out myself, but I can’t find them online or in store. Do they not make this color anymore? edit: I’ve asked employees in the store and I get everything from “sold out” to “I don’t think we carry them anymore” to “I’ve never heard of that color”. Edit again!: with a little scouring on the BPS app I found the color in the stik-o-worms….not the craws…
  12. Zoom/Yum Trickworm June bug watermelon red black I’ll also add cranberry and scuppernong to the list. These five colors totaled have accounted for a vast majority of my catches in shaky head and T-Rig. However, the three listed up top are dead nuts my honey and sugar.
  13. That was going to be my guess as well.
  14. Most of my rigs are mounted on Abu rods And I only own one Abu bc. I just prefer the Abu Vendetta rods for their price point.
  15. Same here, however I am mostly lucky enough that there is still enough flight time in the lure that the backlash corrects itself as stated. My most prevalent backlashes occur from too much force in the beginning and trying to correct too late such as a tree limb jumping out to grab my lure lol
  16. I am in the same shoes as you are with the “braid-on/braid-off” situation. I have noticed that braid has a different tune to it than FC across all of my bc’s. The only application where I attempt to use braid is top water and I never get to enjoy it because of backlash and dialing issues. Admittedly, it’s probably my inexperience with braid and my improper use of the technique that are my problem areas. It’s hard for me to justify paying for good braid when I can just fish my favorite techniques without issue on FC.
  17. My Revo side plate would pop off immediately at casting so I figured it was the door catch on the latch or something was misaligned that would inhibit the spool, but I couldn’t find anything out of place.
  18. It was very disheartening to have that issue personally because I have had a lot of Abu products over the years with no issue.
  19. I was completely nothing but spinning until COVID back in March shut us down at work. I bought my first bait caster combo from BPS and it was the Abu Garcia Revo SX that came mounted on a carbon lite 2.0. Loved it so much I ordered another Revo SX reel two days later and it turned out to be hot garbage with the side plate issue.
  20. More specifically, are they more tailored to the finesse techniques? I read a lot on here and elsewhere that folks prefer spinning setups for shaky head, Ned, neko etc.
  21. Shaky head. Hands down, the shaky head. A close second would be the ole faithful T-rigged craw or lizard. Nothing produces for me like these two techniques. I have recently been trying wacky rig, but nothing yet.
  22. My budget at that age and yours sounds like one in the same lol I would invite him out on the water and see how it goes. You never know, you may end up with a pretty solid friend and co angler as well as a neighbor you won’t despise. edit: tell him about BR!
  23. Shaky head is the correct answer
  24. That was my same clarity yesterday. Mildly stained with mayyyyyyybe a foot of visibility. Don’t worry friend, you’ll have a good time with the shaky head.
