Anyone bought a reel through eBay (China)
Quite a few sellers in China(?) are offering Shimano Stradic @$190.00, and I wonder if they are legit? They are selling about $40 below the market price which is ok, but is it worth the trouble?

Good compact cooler for boat
I think this might do the trick. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a cooler. https://www.amazon.com/Rod-Runner-Pro-Caña-de-pescar/dp/B00JAHLR8S/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=rod+runner&qid=1593743182&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-8

Good compact cooler for boat
This is what found, but I believe these holders are only good for spinning gear. I'm looking for a cooler that can accommodate both.

Good compact cooler for boat
Not sure this is the right area, but here goes:I'm looking for a compact size cooler w/rod holders(for both spinning and baitcasting) for a ten foot boat. Any recommendations?

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Oh, no, no garbage can lid for me - ever. LOL

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
I just bought a Twin Troller, and I'm planning on doing some spooning very soon.

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
I see. I've never even heard of that brand Irod before so I'm learning something new again! So, I guess 796 is out, and I need to make a choice between either Dobyns 795 or possibly Irod. I just found out all Dobyns are made in Korea, and I hope that's not a bad thing.

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Where do you fish at?

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Thank you for your input. Do you tie the line directly to a spoon? Wouldn't that destroy your line?

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Per TW, both of those rods have fast action though. Hmm......I'm clueless once again

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Tom, I did a bit of research just now, and noticed someone complaining about the lack of tip strength of a FR795 rod. He says, although FR795 is rated for 2-5 oz lures, FR705 model could only muster 2.5 or less. Do you think 796 might be a better option for 6" spoons that weigh as much as 5 oz? Have you tried 796 or do you think it's overkill?

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Does FR795SB have 20.5 inch handle? They offer another 795 w/17.5 inch handle, and wonder if one is more suitable than the other. Also, is it just good for Summer/Fall seasons?

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
Thank you for your input! Any issue with hang-ups or snags? Perfect timing Which model of Dobyns do you use?

Rod for Flutter Spoon fishing?
I've never done it, but - it looks fun! - I'd like to try some flutter spoon fishing for bass in the future. A video recommended a Loomis 7'6" 904 rod (for 6" spoons), and I'm wondering if there're other suitable/better options out there. For example, will any of the Shimano Expride/Zodias line be more than good enough to do the job? Appreciate your input in advance!

Caught a fish on a home made "Tokyo Jig"
That was exactly what I was thinking.....man, another silly ad to make $$, but after looking at some of those videos posted on Youtube, I thought I should give it an honest try before forming a non-biased opinion. And I'm glad I did. Thank you for your post. And I think you should. Heck, if I can catch fish with it, you can too.

Caught a fish on a home made "Tokyo Jig"
I wanted to try a Tokyo jig, but I didn't feel like ordering it and then waiting for another two weeks for it to arrive due to the current pandemic. So I decided to make myself a homemade Tokyo Jig using: a Gamakatsu 4/0 hook, a Spro ball power swivel, a Split ring, and a spinnerbait shaft wire. I then took it to a local pond to give it a try. The pond was covered in thick, heavy grass so I had do some selective punching w/1.5 oz tungsten weight. On my second cast, I hooked a two pounder, and I'm stoked! I'm a lazy guy by nature, and this is the first time in my life I made a homemade jig/bait/lure/anything that produced fish! Pretty cool, I think.

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
Why do you prefer mono over fluorocarbon?

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
Do your use a leader?

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
Isn't fluorocarbon notorious for getting birdnests? Any tricks to prevent that from happening?

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
For a spinning reel of 2500 size, what lb test braided line would you recommend? I think anything less than 20 lbs should be ok?

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
I've old (vintage? ) All-Star M/H, Medium and Heavy rods and AFAIC, they are out of business? I like the elec tape idea! Much obliged! I just looked up Jimmy Houston knot, and it looks solid! I'll try that knot for sure. Appreciate your input, Captain Phil.

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
I've a feeling that this topic may have been discussed ad nauseam already - sorry about that. Although I've been fishing for some time, I've never tried braided line since I've always been a mono guy, and I saw no real reason/need to change. Well, I'm about to change that, and ordered some Sufix 832 so I can at least look good, and be a part of the "crowd", if you will. LOL Anyway, my questions to you experts/pros are; 1)my rods are old so will braided line damage the rods in anyway such as guides for example? 2) do you recommend mono backing or none at all? 3)Will my reels function properly with all braided line? I think I've read from somewhere that w/o any decent backing, reels could slip or won't cast as well? I don't recall. 4) if you do use a leader, about how much of a leader do you put on your reel? 5)Will those knots impede casting in anyway? Thank you, and Happy Father's Day to you all!

Life Jacket
Very educational video here that really educated me. I guess this is probably not the time to be frugal - or cheap - as they say.

What's your take on a Shimano NASCI 2500/3000?
Did you buy 2500 or 3000? Did you look at both options prior to making the purchase?
