Best option for rod storage inside your car?
If I'm in my Wrangler I put my rods in the front passenger seat on somewhat of an angle between the 2 front seats. Did the same thing with my old Passat. 4 combos can fit with room between each rod. 6 or 7 is the maximum even with rod socks and reel cases. I have an F150 but my rods and reels are less likely to be damaged in the Wrangler then in the bed of the truck. When I pick up one of my buddies up to fish they know there gonna have to sit in the back lol. I do the same thing with the spare trailer tire

Favorite Jerkbait???
I dont know how the Rozantes aren't more popular then they are. I hear a lot of people praising the Pointer 78, its a good JB, but IMO the Rozy 77 beats in every way other then color selection. Duo has great colors, but they've discontinued some awesome patterns. Im anxious to see how the 85s do this winter. Whats your favorite Duo pattern?

Favorite Jerkbait???
I do pretty well with them. They don't have a ton of action, but that's why I think they work so well in really cold and really warm water. They don't cast as well as other JBs with weight transfer systems. I would definitely recommend upgrading the stock hooks. For what you pay for them they are pretty hard to beat.

Favorite Jerkbait???
They sure do get bit about anywhere. If you change out the stock hooks you have a fair chance at catching a fish

Favorite Jerkbait???
Nothing wrong with that at all. More money doesn't always mean more fish. I've put up more weight with an Olive Ghost Husky Jerk then my buddy using a MB a few times.

Favorite Jerkbait???
Its obvious, if he doesn't wear that hat he risks loosing circulation to his head. If that happens then he won't able to access the memory of when where and how to fish well over 200 JBs.

Swimbaits
I really like the Zako as a trailer, especially on chatterbaits. As soft as they are they hold up really well. When it comes to chatterbaits I favor darker colors like black and GP even in the lakes that have shad. Sometimes I use electric shad for a little more contrast with darker skirts. Im not really sure how it looks to the fish, but it seems to work. Grande Bass came out with a bait designed for chatterbaits, but I haven't tried them yet. It looks like there take on a Zako or Razor Shad, with a little more length to it. Its called a jack knife or switch blade something like that. I really like GBs' baits, I want to give them a try.

Favorite Jerkbait???
As the nights grow longer and water temperature cools the fishing heats up. With the Bass keying in on baitfish to sustain them during the winter months the Jerkbait can be one of the best options to fire up schooling Bass. Not to mention how fun they are to fish. Anglers from not only the U.S., but also around the world have the Mega Bass 110 atop the list. If you had to chose 1 JB in 1 color excluding only the MB 110 (the MB 110 Jr. being a viable option) to fish anywhere across the U.S. which one would it be? and why? Again you can only choose 1 color for all situations, must be a stock color, no custom paintjobs or alterations. The Duo Realis 110 has consistently produced fish in many kinds of conditions. Prism Gill is an ideal color for brighter conditions. I've also done well with it on cloudy days in low visibility and high visibility conditions. There are colors that do better in certain conditions, but Prism Gill always seems to get bit.

What is your take on the ideal casting rod for for max distance?
With all due respect I disagree. Speed is dictated by powder charge. The distance depends on the weight of the projectile even if the velocity is the same. Steel will lose energy much faster then lead because steel doesn't have the density of lead, so its much lighter. The same principle is applied to a light lure. There are 2 sources of energy at work in a cast, leverage being a means to increase energy . The energy you input and the potential energy stored in the rod when the blank loads on the back cast. Its similar to stretching a rubber band. A pool cue(casting a weight in the sweet spot of the range) that doesn't load far into the blank needs more power on a cast then a rod with a softer tip. A "noodle" is more dependent on leverage and the rod unloading for distance. Because of the slow action your not getting the leverage you would be getting with faster action rod of the same length. Casting a noodle with more "power" results in minimal gain because there isn't enough backbone left to push. A blank with a tip that loads a little deeper then a Fast but not nearly as deep as a Mod. Out of all actions casting optimal weights, ModFast generally yields more distance. Length gives you leverage, but just because a rod longer doesn't necessarily mean it will cast farther then a shorter rod. For example I have a 8'6 Mod. Fenwick that would be considered a noodle. I have a 7' ModFast Loomis that casts considerably farther then the Fenwick even if the Fenwick is throwing a bait in its "sweet spot." Action plays an important roll in distance. Surf rods made to cast maximum distance are nearly all Mod Fast. Cleary surf fishing has nothing to do with rods designed for bass fishing, but the principle remains the same.

How do you mean?

Why stop at 9? Get a 12ft ODM, you could sling a head and 3 ounces 70 yards past the breakers NP.

Swimbaits
Most of my favorite soft plastics aren't very durable. Sometimes you can catch 3 or 4 fish on a Keitech, Air tail rattler or bubbling shaker, and sometimes 1 short bite can ruin the bait. As long as the baits intact and not missing a tail I can paste it back together with mend it and catch a few more fish on it then repeat the process. You can paste it back together 2 or 3 time (sometimes more) before there isn't enough plastic to keep it from sliding off the keeper. If im fishing a small pond or junk fishing for a couple hours after work Ill try to get rid of some baits don't use often.

Swimbaits
Didn't mean to offend you. You posed a question so I gave you my opinion why they are so popular. Other then action you can match just about any baitfish with the size and color options. I really like the Zako. They have that high salt content which makes them soft so they move well. I like them on a chatterbait or swim jig, but not so much as a stand alone swimbait. I agree, if a bait produces fish but lacks durability, I don't mind paying a little more for it.

Bass teeth significantly sharper right now?
Bass thumb for anglers is like cauliflower ear for a wrestler.

Shimano Stradic Ci4+ HG - Why So Popular???
Not 100% sure about Shimano but the Diawa Ballistic 2500 and 3000 frames look Identical in size but the 3000 spool is just bit wider. I asked a Daiwa Rep if the spools were interchangeable and he said they are but he wouldn't recommend doing it. He said the difference in the line lay would likely cause problems. In my experience asking a JDM dealer what the differences are compared to the USDM reels can be difficult to answer.

Shimano Bantam MGL
I don't have any trouble with them getting them off, but I use extreme caution especially with the Met. The best way I have found is to rotate it then slowly shimmy it out. When you put it back make sure it seats into the frame before you lock it. Ive heard a few stories about losing side plates that way. The Bantam is excellent, but the 20 Met. is really something else. You can get them JDM for a little over $300, but the spool is a 100 size and the handle is shorter.

Swimbaits
The Berkleys aren't bad but they don't move as well as Keitechs in really cold water. If you want them to last longer buy a bottle of mend it. Other then the tail being ripped off Mend It will fix just about anything. You can triple the amount of fish per bait easy.

MegaBass Hazedongs and Jackal Rhythm Waves are great as a changeup or in cold water. In really cold water theres 2 options really small baits or really big baits.

I must have missed it, the rod I use for smaller and finesse jigs is good with 1/4s but absolutely perfect with 5/16s and there aren't a ton of them. What jig is it?

Tough to pick 3 GP Chatterbait-Hard to be more versatile then a chatterbait 3,3 GP Swing Fat- Trailer, Swimbait, DS GP ZinkerZ- Neko, T rigged, Wacky Rig, Shakey Head, Ned Rig

Its best to go by lure rating and action. You could buy 2 Med power rods that are made by the same company but are 2 different lines like a St.Croix Mojo and St.Croix Premier for example, and the power of the rods could be totally different. Jigs with a light wire hook up to 5/16 I use a M. 3/8 and up with stouter wire hook I go with MH.

Help me choose a rod brand
The owner of my local tackle shop is always pushing dobyns. He said the fury would blow my SC mojo away. I picked it and as soon as I felt how heavy it was I put it down. I picked up a champion and still felt heavy. I used a buddys sierra one day, had nice action good for JBs but the exposed threads on spinning gear drove me nuts. For $200 the zodias is hard to beat IMO. Some people look at me like im crazy when I say this but the 13 Omen black is a good budget option if you want to upgrade to Expride.
-
Brand new rod "break in " period
I read that graphite rods under stress do change. Over time the rod will actually flatten out into an oval shape and start to lose power. The X wrapping in the Expride and Zodias are supposed to minimize flattening.

Swimbaits
I catch fish on Easy Shiners when the water is in the mid 30*s. They have a more subtle action then the swing fats and swing impacts. I tight line then as slow as I can without hitting the bottom. I like the 3" on an Owner 1/16 #1 darter head or ball head.
