  1. 'cause farm pond fishing is where it's at! Them and small rivers.
  2. My sympathies go out to anyone who can't sleep. But please stay out from behind the wheel of a car! My brother in law doesn't get enough sleep and he creamed his mailbox with his car as a result (he fell asleep going up the driveway. He was very lucky that's all he did.
  3. Ordinarily, I feel sorry for someone whos been ripped off but in this case... Hmmmm.
  4. It's sooo difficult, sometimes, to know if someone is giving us the runaround. I've experienced it and I've gotten hosed before, too. (I'll refrain from telling my story). I don't blame you if your hackles are raised. I suspect you are being hosed. Is this breeder licensed? How did you hear about him? Call the so and so and inform him that you are going to contact the Better Business Bureau, the AKC, the local chamber of commerce, and the local police if you don't receive the papers immediately. Tell him you will pick them up or instruct him to send them by registered mail. >
  5. Ha! My friend gets all gussied up when he trout fishes. I, on the other hand, look a bit like I just came from a homeless shelter.
  6. (Most) "flies" are rather diminutive in size (at least in comparison to, say, a Zara Spook or a Devils Horse), so the chance of enticing a better bass is less. But I'm sure there are others that would disagree. I've never caught a really good bass on a fly but I'm fairly new to the sport. Regardless of the size fish, however, fly fishing is a lot of fun.
  7. Am going to have to tell this one to my brother. ;D
  8. This lane is mine, this much I know. But it's buried in 3 feet of snow. My boss won't care if I can't go And I'll be canned, that much is fo' sho'. My better half says, Be a dear And see if you can't dig us clear Between the garage and frozen road The coldest morning of the year I give my snow blower a yank To see if I can make er crank The only other sounds the cuss Words that would make a sailor blush The snow, it's falling heavy and deep But I have a mortgage to keep My boss is an unsympathetic creep My boss is an unsympathetic creep
  9. Ouch! I'll bet her hips were sore later. Too bad nobody bothered to warn her/them.
  10. "Accidentally" Uh huh. Sure.

I suspect this is a close up of one of those "Billy Bass" singing fish. I thought I saw "made in Taiwan" stamped on it. Nice fish!
  12. If you want to venture out, dress warmly/comfortably. Otherwise, you're likely to never want to repeat the experience again. Plus it's difficult to concentrate when you are shivering. Dress in layers and wear a good windbreaker. And good luck young grasshopper.
  13. I thought about swapping them out and giving my friend the old reel. But that would be tacky and not very generous. It doesn't matter anyway. It's just money and at the end of the day it isn't about how much money or how many toys we have. Besides, I'm already blessed. :)
  14. What's really wrong about it is that he usually outfishes me, too. ;D
  15. This past weekend I bought a new Shimano baitcasting reel for a friend (his reel has been screaming and I got tired of hearing it). It was on sale for 56 bucks. Anyway, he will now have a better reel than I own. How wrong is that!
  16. I'm sure other varieties woud work just as well but I got to where I was fond of the plain old white ones. It's just one of those things. Haven't any explanation.
  17. I wouldn't think any particularly specialized equipment would be necessary-so long as you already have a spinning rod and reel. I've used a jig under a bobber on many occassions. Seems to work best on days when the water has a a little light chop on it. It's especially good to hold a jig at a certain depth and without having to move it away from the desired zone.
  18. Does Berkley make a plain old white, straight power worm (without the curly tail) anymore? I've looked around and I can't seem to locate them.
  19. This technique only works if there are small pockets or breaks in the lilly pads and it's especially helpful if you are confident the fish are there: Cast a weedless soft plastic onto the tops of the pads, shake and bounce the plastic so that it creates a lot of commotion on the pad(s), then, when you think you've sufficiently caught the bass' attention, creep the plastic over to the edge of the pads and drop it down into the water. It helps if there is just enough weight (pegged to the bait) for it to fall but not too quickly. Anwyay, a lot of times, a bass will grab it on the way down. Set the hook hard and try to pull the bass out of the thick stuff before the fish can weave in and out of the pads. You'll need some pretty stout line (braided is a good choice) to horse a bass out of the pads.
  20. That's quite funny! I'll have to remember this one!

This looks like it coulda come right out of Reno 911. Is this for real? Regardless, it was hilarious!
  22. I was down at the lake the other day and there was a guy fishing from the dock. I asked him how the fishing was. He replied, "Terrible! I haven't had a bite all day!" So I went over and I bit him. Oldie but a goodie! ;D
  23. Too funny! ;D ;D ;D
  24. Thatis one beautiful smallmouth! Nice catch!
