  2. If the breeze would calm down I would take out my new Redington Crosswaters 9 ft 6wt fly combo. I'm planning to learn how to cast a fly this summer. My brother and I are heading out on the Bow River again this autumn for trout and we plan to try some streamers.
  3. how are the tips on the Ark lines? Any suggestions for a crankbait rod?
  4. And Ditto on hitting up creek mouths !!!
  5. I want to feel in my hands the Falcon Bucoo, stC Mojo glass crank and an Abu G glass winch rod before i buy. Ive passed on Dobyns rods though that may be a mistake. Anyone else know of a 6.5' to 7' medium with a moderate soft tip. I want to feel the lures thump and bump off the occasional boulder.
  6. First 3 hrs of river fishing in the bank. First impression is that the new Shimano Nasci 3000 is a beauty.
  7. Craws come out when the water here hits around 50. Ive tied some red and brown craws with bucktail and zonkers. Cant wait for topwater season too
  8. Fury is more moderate than the Sierra if i remember correctly.
  9. At a water temp of 50 im throwing a craw jig of rabbit zonkers. Browns and sculpin olive
  10. Honesty dictates that i confess. This spring I'm trying out a 6.5' m/fast cherrywood for spooks. Wish me luck. Its replacing a 50yr old Ugly Stik that weights a ton.
  11. Im so stoked!
  12. Im a river smallie and trout junky. Been doing t for years. My recomendation is based on what i do in my river. Rods - bring two rods if possible. I carry one spinning 1pc Med light power w/ a fast tip for jigs, tubes, flukes, soft plastics, swimbaits &spybait. Thus covering 3 depths of water and current. Keep the rod near your own height (5 5' to 6') and have the best chance at being long and accurate with your casts. Match your ht so its easy to carry. Every other lure and presentation xan be handle by your baitcaster. I carry all my tackle in an Umpqua Sweeps 650.
  13. The weather in my home town has been hovering around the freezing point as our daytime high. BUT, for the next few days it will be warming up. Saturday night the low will be near 45 and Sunday its sunny, breezey and 60. Lions and tigers and bears OH MY! - I'm going fishing!!! Best part of spring is getting to use my new equipment and throw the new store bought lures and the jigs ive been tying all winter!
  14. Stack the tails and palmer the heads.
  15. Sunny and 25 today. It's warmed up so much this week I thought about throwing a line into the river. But then I remembered how the line freezes in the guides after a few casts
  16. No one here can really answer that question, only the fish that see it on the day your throwing it.
  17. Hmmmm. Spinning is very finesse, not the place to go cheaper imo. But i will recommend a 7' plus medium with a moderate tip.
