  1. So, Big Update! The water temps have hit a consistent 50 which seems to trigger the bass into feeding voraciously! The lure of note has been a 3" widderdilch that ive tied on a 1/12 oz jig hook. Tan & olive deer hair, a plume of white maribou, some uv dub and some grizzly saddle hackle. Very rewarding to be whaking them on my own ties. As if creek fishing wasnt fun enough
  2. A fly streamer is like a swimjig for a flyrod, normally used on smallies and trout. Any great local cottage rentals to recommend?
  3. Hi Greg, Im thinking of trying some fly streamers up near you. Got any local tips for us noobies?

  5. The only solution for pollution is action. I pick it up and go.
  6. 6ft And custom. Hope youre happy with the action.
  7. The weight of a jig has everything to do with depth but very little impact on the size of the jig. I can deliver a very large (+8") fly streamer in 2ft of water and be 6" above the bottom without snags but by far the most fun and the easiest is on a fly rod. BUT the spinning rod is more versatile than anything else.
  8. Yes, coming out of winter and prespawn they are unpredictable. I watch water temps to give me a clue as to where they are going and what theyll be doing. Hopefully i find a few hungry ones.
  9. River bass require atleast one spinning setup. I prefer a StC avid 6' mlf (which is closer to a mf) or a fenwick hmg 6' mlf (which is closer to a med fast tip) The fenwick covers more techniques but i use the avid more often.
  10. New goal for the coming season will be .... River wading a 6wt with a Wilderdiltch streamer that i hand tied that morning for a +3# smallie.
  11. https://images.fiberglassflyrodders.com/u/1/pb/TStif/Wilderdilch.jpg Small mouth bass and trout. Also known to get the unwanted attention of passing pike and walleye.
  12. Put your hands on a StC Mojo Bass Glass. Not certain they come in that length but they feel great.
  13. One warm day turned into consecutive warm sunny days. Water temps in the creeks is mid 40s now. Really hope we avoid a cold snap in the next two weeks. Must catch a March smallie.
  14. StC avid 6' to 6'6" ml or m in fast or xf . And ive heard great things about the tharp rods.
  15. HMG is a bit too fast for me to walk the dog. The cherry wood too. Ive heard amazing things about the Falcon Bucoo. I held a StC mojo bass glass recently. That was a nice rod.
  16. The problem with arguing over the internet with a forum troll is that they bring you down to their level of stupidity and beat you with experience.
  17. Shimano Nasci Daiwa Fuego LT Daiwa BG

And I throw in a barrell swivel when I'm feeling a bit wreckless!
  19. Going to be throwing more swampcrawlers and brush hogs
  20. I was just checking my photo gallery and my 1st smallie last year was Mar. 21st. As of today most of my local river's banks are ice free. Save a few glacier packs in the shade I can pretty much hit my spots soon. We have a week of 60s (daytime sunny) and high 40s nighttime. GO SPRING
  21. I picked up the new for '21 Nasci HG. Tight reel for sub $100. Feels smother than my Daiwa BG and all of the LT series reels I have. Nicely done by Shimano.
  22. For wading river and creek smallies i like a short ML/F. St C premier or avid.
