Looking for inexpensive 6.2:1 gear ratio spinning reel. 20, 25, or 30 size. Preferably with spare spool and/or anti reverse switch. Used is ok, but in good condition. Recommendations?

The title and request are contradictory. The best isn't inexpensive. I wouldn't go cheaper than a Nasci 2500 personally, but I use a Stradic FL myself.

The 30 size is about a 2500, the 35 size is about a 3000 - ya, Pflueger's sizes are a bit 'wonky'.

To meet your gear ratio, I'd recommend Tica Samira Extreme 2000H, and you can call Tica America for a $12 spare spool. 

They don't have a big US market, but a big world market. 

A quality worm-drive reel for $82 - Amazon has stock. 

They do begin a little stiff, but run in and completely smooth out by the time you line them. They have optional anti-reverse and sealed A/R clutch. 

They have a better line roller than Stella. 

Tica has been making reels in Taipei since 1960, when they began with offshore reels.

Tica  makes a good portion of Daiwa's reels. 

 

I'll add have a few miles on my dressy one, and it's buttery - also excellent line management, which is Tica style. 

 

For an inexpensive reel, I recommend the Piscifun carbon x.

I started off with two reels. Now I have a whole fleet of them.

I use them more now than my daiwa's and shimano's.

They can be found for around $50, give or take alittle. Plus the spare spools can be ordered from piscifun for pretty cheap.

If you order from Aliexpress, they can even come with a spare shallow spool.

Used for sure if inexpensive is an important part of your decision criteria.

As already mention, hard to go wrong with the Pflueger line, they range in price from $60-$150.

Exsence 3000 is the best of the best. The Ci4+ bodies are very light also if you study before choose the model.

I already have 2 Supremes 30 size w/extra spools and 3 trion 4725 w/extra spools also, these are from 2010. Also have an older Shimano Sahara 1500 (2008 I think) with spool too. Also a Shimano FX 2500 no extra spool and Trion 3500 no extra either.

The Piscifun and Diawa Legalis look interesting ?.

Have not had good experiences with the newer Pfluegers, loved the older ones. I've got mostly Daiwa spinning reels now but you can get some really nice ones from Okuma also. 

 

Okuma makes some qualty spinning reels.

Looking at the pic's of the reel on TW, it appears to have the anti reverse switch. 

Pflueger is my choice, heard all the bad being said online about em' but don't see it in the ones my son and I are using. 3 president xt and a president and zero problems. Getting another xt this winter as well, smooth and light with nice drags (and yes they still have anti reverses). Less than $100.........am considering a legalis Diawa also to try.  Dave

Yes, they do.  I have 1 and its been a great budget reel.

While the best spinning reel is subjective, what is consistent is that it's going to cost some money. What I will say is that I personally find that you don't need to drop as much on a spinning reel as you do on a casting reel. The Daiwa BG is a fantastic reel for around $110. They run a size larger so I would imagine you would need nothing larger than a 2500 for anything bass fishing related. I use a 2000 for 12lb braid with usually a 6lb fluorocarbon leader for smaller drop shots and ned rigs myself.

 

The highest end spinning reel I have is a Tatula LT 2500D. The only reason I spent that much on the reel is because I bought a higher end rod, so I figure I should get a worthwhile reel. The main difference is the weight. The reel weighs right around 5oz, is lighter than any of my baitcasters and feels almost weightless. My BG is paired with a St Croix Avid X 6'9" ML/XF that by itself is a little tip heavy, but a heavier reel balances it out pretty nicely.

 

the way to do it correctly is spend the hour in TackleAdvisor's $100 reel shoot-out, and see how each reel is made. 

Strong points, weak points.

Then, pick the reel that has the features that will make it last longer or perform better in your niche....

This is the best spinning reel.  Some would argue that its Daiwa equivalent is the best.  Either one is not in the neighborhood of inexpensive,

I have a Carbon X 4000 on my Ugly Stik Elite and it is super light and sensitive. It's the best reel I have used. 

I’ve been saying the Piscifun Carbon X is underrated for several years on here and I recommend it without hesitation. I have 2)1000 & 1)2000, the only thing I’ll say is they are about a 1/2 size larger than marketed. I:E the 500 is a 1000 size Daiwa 1000 is a 1500 etc.

Daiwa Fuego LT or the Shimano NASCI for $100 or Daiwa Excelor or Shimano Sahara for $85ish.
