Best spinning reel?

Featured Replies

I'm beyond impressed with the new Shimano Nexave FI spinning reel. It's only $50, but it performs like a $250 reel. The 2500 is 8.8oz which may be slightly heavier than other 2500 class reels, but I don't notice it.

For reference, I've owned a Twin Power ($420 retail) and Stradic FL ($220 retail), and I own a Ci4+ ($240 retail). I kid you not, it feels smoother than those spinning reels. The Nexave is really all you need for spinning.

Daiwa Fuego LT or the Shimano NASCI for $100 or Daiwa Excelor or Shimano Sahara for $85ish.

Sahara doesn't have the anti reverse. Which the OP was asking for.

The ''best spinning reel'' is the one you enjoy using the most, regardless of price.

Abu Garcia Elite Max $79.99 would be my recommendation

The only thing I consider for spinning reels is what size I need for the lures and line weights I throw.  I don't need a special reel for cranking, flipping, skipping, frogging, chatterbaits, etc.

For me, the Pflueger President's hit all the marks.  It does everything well, costs less, and my 6 have lasted a long time with no need of repair.

Smooth and tight. Beveled spool lip, casts a country mile. Can be had for $100 with some searching

REVO2X30 Right/Left 6.2:1 8.3 6HPCR + 1RB 8/175  In Stock: 5+ $119.95
