  1. The lake i usually fish in the summer is VERY busy with boat traffic so night fishing is the way to go. I "count rocks" too, but I use a 7.5" Culprit Red Shad Worm and they tear it up. You'll notice that when you catch one, you'll catch 2 or three more right after, then the action will slow for a while and the whole process will repeat.
  2. "Why in the heck would anyone want to kiss a fish? " Because its good luck! and dont say "i dont need luck ive got skill," because thats not true. Luck never hurt.
  3. I have never seen a fish not return DIRECTLY to the bed. I took a 4 lber off a few weeks ago, walked 10 yds down the bank had someone take a pic, put it back in the water, and when I got back to my tackle box the fish was already there.
  4. This would be the PB. MUAH!
  5. I didn't start kissin fish until this year. I kissed my 6 1/2 lb PB earlier this spring and havent missed kissin one yet. I have caught more fish this year than ANY other year and its only May 13th! Do you all kiss fish or am I the only one? If you dont I have to say you may be missing out on an awesome way to increase your catch rate! Show one of Gods most beautiful creatures some love!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Either a ratl trap or a buzzbait. Fish confidence baits to find em!
  7. 4.5" Green Pumpkin YUM Wooly Hawgtail
  8. Welcome aboard! My PB is also a 6 1/2 from the neighborhood pond, we should race to see who catches a 7 lber first! haha
  9. With the complaints about short strikes i would def use a fluke Jr. I am yet to fish a chatter bait, but I've heard people compare it to a "jig that fishes like a crankbait" Is this true?
  10. http://***/cgi-bin/order/68L-10 here be the link... I forgot the first time.
  11. Apparently they just hit the market in the US this year, but I hear they are dynamite. Im not a big fan of the drop shot, but i know alot of people fish them that way. They seem as if they may be ok on a jig head but I dont know if this would hurt the action of them. Has anyone tried these baits yet? If so, how did you rig them?
  12. road warrior is right. in any situation where skipping is useful, odds are spinning gear will do you just fine.
  13. I dont really consider right now early summer, but right now is post spawn, to me. Early summer, atleast here in KY, seems to be either later this month or early next month when the water warms up more. Then my go to baits are natural colored tx. rigged soft plastics, chart./white spinnerbaits, and rattletraps. Also, while im not very good at topwaters (its my challenge for May), I hear this is the time of year to tie on a spook.
  14. I found that I used to let the fish run too much on a crankbait because I was scared of losing big ones. Dont waste any time, get em in the boat ASAP!
  15. EWG would be useful depending on your trailer. Stuff like grubs and smalls craws, not so much. However if you like to use creature baits as trailers EWG is probably the way to go.
  16. Getting away from everything. On the water its me, a rod, water and the fish. No worries or concerns, no stress, and no WORK!
  17. When is it best to use Flouro or Braid? What types of lures, spinning or baitcast, how heavy of structure and what kind of water clarity. I typically use mono, but would like to try the others. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  18. If you're not fishing for hawgs, and just looking for numbers and you know theyre feeding on craws go with a soft plastic like a crawbug on a jighead first, or possibly something like a yum wooly hawgtail in a craw color.
  19. uhm... apparently there are SOME big fish in there, over crowding and all. MY suggestion is tie on a jig with a crawfish trailer (YUM makes the best) and fish it with SLOW, short hops along the bottom. A jig will generally catch bigger fish than a worm or others. You will sacrifice numbers, but its kind of a must if you want to catch bigger fish. But i do agree with all the above. Take a cooler to the lake, put some lake water in it, catch 20 or so dinks and drive them to another pond, lake, stream, or river. Just dont kill them. Those 10 inch fish have worked hard to become 10 inches in that over crowded lake.

  21. "Any disease which affects the nervous system , muscular system or swim bladder can cause abnormal swimming behaviour. Any debilitating disease that causes weakness will also lead to inability to swim properly, and so it isn't surprising that fish which are terminally ill will be seen swimming abnormally - even up-side down." I had to look it up. So most likely something was wrong with it, swimbladder or otherwise. Now the really curious part is, if something was wrong with it, how did it flip over when it saw me... twice.
  22. lol, no cartwheels and i wasnt dumping vodka in the water. It seriously did this two or three times (once it was off in the distance) The first time i saw it I thought it was dead.
  23. today at the local lake i saw a carp, 3 or 4 times, swimming upside down. when it noticed me it would roll over and swim off. why the h*ll was it doing this?
  24. I have always found that if I dont use a really hard hook set that I also tend to lose fish on a fluke. Also, reel in any slack you have in the line and point your rod at the fish, then set... hard.
