most of the new ones I have noticed have the rings on hooks. they pretty much did away with that old hook hanger which was one of the worst ideas ever to begin with, lol

add a split ring to your spook, makes it walk alot easier.

I was thinking the opposite from you guys... We have had similar weather here in KY so I was realy interested to see what everyone said about this. We basically had a cold spell for 1 1/2 weeks, and we'll be back up to 90 by the weekend. I'm going saturday, and to me it seems that summer patterns are still going to be the way to go. Not necessarily the million mph shad chase that goes on in the fall. So, can 2 weeks of cooler weather really send fish into a fall pattern permanently?

Whats your favorite color(s)? And how do you fish them most often? I recently fished a tourny of 40+ boats, 10 weighed a fish, and only 2 boats caught a limit. 1st place used a texas rigged paca craw in black/red flake on an old roadbed in 20-25 ft of water.

Lets get a review on em. I have an uncle that fishes worms like a spinnerbait, but he uses ribbontails and catches a lot of fish. Im hoping to get an edge over him with these baits.

I fish a neighborhood pond alot like this. Try a fat ika. If that doesnt work, try the yamamoto shad shaped worm on a jig head or drop shotted, EXCELLENT for pressured fish. If all else fails go with a tube.

I would say you need to go to one of those spots where you occassionally catch them shallow and paralell the bank with a spinnerbait just above the bottom. Start shallow, and work your way deeper. Be consistent about counting down your bait to get a good idea of how deep you are fishing at all times. When you finally catch one note the depth the fish was at when it hit, and fish around that depth in other areas of the lake.

try a yum buzz frog on top. if you get no takers, try fishing it a few inches under the surface. If you still get no takers, thats when you need to really break down the lake, it is yours after all. What could these fish be feeding on? Lotsa rocks? I say crawfish. If thats the case try a black/blue jig with a Paca Craw trailer. When all else fails throw a rattletrap. Few people will argue that they are one of the most effective baits in a variety of conditions.

Had a bass spit up a good sized threadfin shad tonight, so I know thats what they are feeding on. What is the best bait to "match" a threadfin of only a few inches. Im thinking a swimming jig?

Bass are just like several other kinds of fish, tastes great if you can cook. However, crappie and bluegill consistently taste better. A few large crappie bring alot of meat, but you generally have to catch quite a few bluegill. Catfish are excellent too. I have no clue how she does it, but my grandma fries fish perfectly. I can probably attribute my addiction to fishing partially to her cooking abilities, and to my grandpas love of the sport.

Since discovering the Kinami Palm Tree, it is my go to bait for whenever bass are keying on shad. Pick up a bag and fish it like you do those tiki sticks, nice and slow. Also, be sure you are watching your line. Often times on tiki sticks or many other baits you dont feel the strike, you see it first. You could be missing many fish and not knowing. Also, focus on late/early in the day if you can... thats the way to go most of the time.
