So i fishing some senkos for the first time today just like i was supposed to weightless t-rigged, i didnt even get a nibble, have you guys had days like this with senkos??!?

Yeppers. Fishing a senko weightless isn't something you learn overnight. It takes time and enrgey to perfect your way of fishing a senko. It's like an art. If you can't get anything to bite using it T-rigged weightless throw it wacky rigged, S-Carolina, or on a shaky head. I go through all these different approaches before switching tackle.

Some days I dont have much luck with them, but 98% of the time they are my top catching bait I use.

I fish them slow, let it sink/sit on the bottom for 15+ seconds, then lift up let it fall and repeat.

Maybe try a dif location, fish along weed edges and pockets.

Did you get bit with other lures? Senkos have no magical powers. There's no magical lure that bass will always hit regardless of the conditions. Everyone has that kind of luck with every lure at some point.

If you're not getting bit with one particular lure, change how you're presenting the lure. Try moving it faster or slower, jiggle it more or less, etc... Senkos though, work better the less YOU work the bait.

If that doesn't work, then rig something else.

ooh grasshopper...

Da Senko do have Magic Pow-wer...

The "magic' does not work on every cast. There may be better options when choosing baits or lures on a particular day and under various conditions, but if you continue to fish the Senko, over time it will out-produce all of your other lures combined. The knock on this bait, especially from seasoned tournament fishermen, is it makes catching bass too easy.

Nah.

The magic comes from the guy holding the rod. ;) A senko is a highly effective prop though, that can do a lot of work on it's own.

i didnt get any bites all day...

i fished

buzzbaits

poppers

spinners

cranks

senkos

i fished all over the lake too.... shallow deep, cover, no cover...ughh

i have fished this lake for 4 days straight and i have caught 3 fish in 5 hour outings (2,0,1,0,)   all on spinners in the same cove...so spinners were my confidence bait but i guess not today.

the senkos seemed too light to have light slack, what does the line look like when you have light slack? because everytime i would try it seemed that the senko would drag my way.... thanks

Slack line sags between the rod tip and the water.

I have about eight different fishing holes that I hit regularly.  Senkos work great at most of them.  At two of them, both spring fed ponds, I cannot buy a bite with a Senko.  I've tried 4", 5' and 6" in various colors and presentations at both places, but nothing.  When I go to those two ponds, I don't even bring the senkos there anymore.

yep, fishing the senko wackey. Also if the senko is unscented use berklt bass sent.

yamamoto makes good scents also, there about 2 kinds of yamamoto sents, get th one that has a pungent smell. ;)

You did something wrong you should catch a fish on every cast. ;D

Yeah, I don't get it.  I usually catch 30-40 bass every hour.  You must be doing something totally wrong.

j/k  Sometimes the bass just don't cooperate.

Yes, I've had days like that with Senkos. Along with just about every other lure known to mankind.  :'(

Don't feel bad. I'm new to the Senko world and I still having a heck of a time catching fish with them.

When people say lifting the tip of your pole.  Where do you start, where do you end and how fast are we talking.

The speed at which you pick it up, and how much is going to vary. usually i pick it up from about 4 oclock to about 1 oclock taking a couple seconds to do that.

I recently started fishing Senkos in ponds and you MUST have PATIENCE. You have to force yourself to be lazy enough to fish it right. Just lift it up off of the bottom every 10 or 15 seconds and if that doesn't work just wiggle it around the bottom, don't jig it, just wiggle it. It will produce but you gotta give it a chance.

There is no "magic" bait, although the Senko is probably the closest to magic you will get.

Senkos produce 75% of the bass I catch, thus being the most productive and "magical bait".

The key is, don't give up. Senkos are the most effective plastic bait I have used and few other fishers will disagree. They're very hard to fish wrong and there's very few days where bass just won't hit a senko..

When fishing a senko, I wacky rig it 90% of the time, I hardly ever Trig anything anymore.

Goodluck!

Iv had a bunch of off days with senko.....it happens sometimes....

try wacky rig, it seems a little redundant at the beggining, but it will get hits more then most of rig styles.....

also

try going to a smaller 4" and fishing it slower......

if your already slow, go a little faster....

I always attribute the slow days of senko with overfishing, or using them too often....

if they arent hitting it, try a different lure, and then go back.....

never sit their all day using a senko and not catching anythiong.....mix it up.....

Try using a 7.5 inch Yamamoto regular worm and cut about an inch off the top, then cut the sides so it is sqared off.....makes a really fat head.......

iv killed it using the altered worm....more so than the senko....

If there is one thing I have learned about fishing tiki sticks(dont use senkos) is that you cannot fish them to slow. I have found that the slower you fish them the better they work at least when I fish them.

Geez! I am surprised RW and LBH missed what they taught me made all the difference in my sucess

After you cast pull out 3 or 4 pulls of line it helps make sure the bait falls right as soon as I did this i was catchingmore than i imagined i would 8-)
