  1. Sounds like your buddy needs to adjust his reel. I would recommend the H2O Xpress line of rods and reels at Academy. They are inexpensive and very good quality. The Mettle reel has a really easy 6-pin braking system that is backlash proof if you set it up properly. Plus they are the best bang for your buck reel out there. They make several options for the rod, so you can find one that fits what you like. Just saw your post on bearings, the Mettle has a 10 bearing system and only costs $50.
  2. When the wind is blowing you I am throwing a crankbait in Oklahoma ponds. I will be fishing to golf course ponds tomorrow and better believe I will be throwing a crank. When I find a fish or two with the crank I will catch as many as I can out of the school then slow down to pick up any bigger fish that may be waiting around. Fat Free Guppy Swim Jig Soft Plastics
  3. They are now releasing the episodes on Friday instead of Mondays. It's better than waiting until Monday, but it's still stupid to half to wait half the week after it comes on TV to watch the extended coverage.
  4. Learn the San Diego Jam, you won't look back. It's the best know out there.
  5. It depends on what I am trying to do, but 10lb-15lb Vicious Fluorocarbon is my line of choice.
  6. I went to the facebook page also and liked either your post or someone else's and gave my .02 on the matter. It's absolutely stupid to pay for a product and then have to wait a week after it's been on TV to see the added footage. Bad business model
  7. I have always been a big fan of the Bomber baits. Love the selection of coffin bills. Xcalibur also makes a Fat Free square bill that's pretty sweet as well. Chartreuse/Blue back is my go to color in the Fat Free square bill, Chartreuse/Brown back for the coffin bill.
  8. I am just up the road from you, where do you fish that is super clear?
  9. When do they post the new episodes of the extended coverage? I just bought it and can't watch the second day yet, what gives?
  10. Snell knot on straight shank flipping hooks, but other than that it's the San Diego Jam. Best know I've ever used easily.
  11. How is hitting the carpet worse than the fish being handled between both legs of the guy. That fish is loosing twice the slime it would if it just flopped on one side on the carpet. Plus all of them getting crushed behind the head, granted I'm sure that does little to no harm, just posing an argument that their fish care rules may not be all that better. I agree with the not throwing fish high in the air, but seriously Biffle and Brauer looked like they were gonna throw their back out after bending over so much. lol Loved it when Denny dropped the F bomb about the lake.
  12. I noticed the male camel toe too, it was kinda hard not to after all the pros kept calling them nut hugers. lol I get Ike going "Ike" but not after catching small fish, I totally understand getting jacked after a 3lb-5lb fish but yelling about 1lb-2lb fish is a bit over the top. And every fish regardless of the size as soon as he sets the hook, "big one". It was kinda funny of him to head butt the camera and his official though, but not needed.
  13. might just have to pick one up next time I;m in the store.
  14. If you like the Veritas, I'd go with it. I have the 7'M micro guide and it's awesome!
  15. I can fit 3 on my tube, I take 7'M cranking rod, 7MH T-rig, 7'6" XH Flipping or frogging.
  16. I have a 7' M Veritas Micro Guide that is as close to an all around cranking rod that I have found. I throw everything on it ranging from square bills to 5xd. When I'm getting specific though I tend to use 3 different rods. All 3 H2O Xpress Ethos 7'CC for smaller cranks, 7'MH Squarebills, 7'10"MH for deep divers.
  17. H2O Xpress Ethos 7'MH or the 7'CC I have both and they work great for square bills and smaller cranks. Plus they cost $60 and when on sale $40. Lifetime warranty also
  18. I own the Opitmus X and it's a great reel once you get it dialed in. And when i say dialed in I mean the rod you put it on too. It took me a long time to get it figured out, but now that I have, it's a reel that goes out with me every trip instead of staying at home.
  19. I live in Guthrie, would be interested as well, but T-town is a bit far.
  20. I have used it several times and it's just as good as any braid out there. The only thing different about it is the diameter. If that's not a big issue then I say pick some up. I never had a problem with it, but as stated above a lot of people these days are fishing snobs.
  21. 1) 7'6" XH H2O Xpress Ethos with a BPS Carbonlite 7.1:1 spooled up with 50lb Spider Wire Stealth 2) 7' H H2O Xpress Ethos with Lews Speed Spool 7.1:1 spooled up with 30lb Spider Wire Stealth
  22. the only problem I see is, you didn't get the rod you went to get. lol
  23. KVD's or VMC Barbarian sizes vary
  24. I love my Carbon Lite from last year. My go to flipping and pitching reel.
  25. I switched to the San Diego Jam knot and have had zero problem since I switched. I saw that video of Shaw Grigsby a while back and started using it, not had knot issues since.
