  1. I have the Wright & McGill Rick Clunn square bill rod, it's kinda awesome other than being heavy it's amazing! I have a few other M action graphite rods that I like a lot too, but the glass just wins.
  2. You'd be correct sir. I wasn't thinking about it when I started painting. When it was dried I was like UH OH...drunk gill was born. lol
  3. The first video was not a fail at all. If anything it was a total success in showing that the line trick that everyone talks about is not all it's cracked up to be and there are better ways even if it's just pulling the hook out with pliers. Thanks to this video I know I won't try to use the line trick unless it's a treble hook.
  4. Lets hear it, I take criticism well so what do you guys think? It's my drunk gill pattern.
  5. The line trick is more of a treble hook maneuver I think.
  6. I have used a treble as a trailer hook on many occasions and had lots of success with it. If you bury one of the hooks into your plastic trailer I think you;ll find the weedlessness is still there. I typically will use them on swim jigs. If I'm having trouble with the single hook and am in semi open water I will turn the single hook trailer upside down. Definitely will pick up some misses with that one.
  7. I'm one of the H2O Xpress junkies and I say save a few bucks and get a Mettle, you won't be disappointed and you;ll have it forever.
  8. I ordered mine off ebay, just search for shaker blades.
  9. Personally I ordered a bunch of the big one for a bait that I make. Wish I had gotten the smaller one. The bigger one creates way to much lift (again my opinion). Fishing a 5/8oz head and slow rolling it under the surface almost. It does create a heck of a lot of vibration though so I could see it being effective in dirtier water.
  10. Never used the bait, but have often thought about picking one up. What you might do is switch out your back hook to a size 6. That way you still have a big hook up front, but should zero out all of your tangles.
  11. You may try one of the Plano boxes that seals air tight, that way there is zero chance of rust getting to your hooks.
  12. Get the Tim Horton Switch Back Shad by Bomber, they come in all the great colors listed above and you can make each bait silent or rattle. Plus the stock Tx3 hooks are stupid sticky.
  13. could you just throw some coffee grounds in your bags of plastics? I realize they would wash off as soon as the bait gets wet, but would think the bait would hold some residual scent?
  14. I have messed with the chucking nut. Tightened it loosened it, even took it off... Same results. :-(
  15. Big Bite, Berkley, Zoom are the only 3 I use.
  16. Also be intersted in this.
  17. My airbrush worked great the first couple of days of use, I then broke the nozzle, but got a new one delivered today. It now doesn't shoot paint consistantly at all. It seems like it only shoots paint when it wants to and when it does it's splotchy at best. I have taken the gun apart and cleaned it. It will barely shoot water. I have no idea if it's the gun or compressor or who knows. I called the company and they are sending me a new airbrush, I hope this works like the other one did when it was right ou of the box. Ideally I'd like to figure out how to make the other one work right so I can have 2. Any ideas?
  18. Keith Combs won at Falcon cranking a 6xd on a 7.3:1 reel and was burning it. Personally I think Rock Chalk may be talking about me, as I crank with the fastest reels in my arsenal. I'm I fan of the idea that you can always slow down, but you can only reel so fast.
  19. San Diego Jam for everything that is line to lure. Alberto knot for line to line.
  20. Was going to post this as well. I own the squarebill rod and it's pretty great. I'd definitely go pick up another especially at that price.....Oh wait, I already did.
  21. I use 30lb Spider Wire Stealth on pretty much every one of my baitcasting reels. I have always thought going with much more than 30 was a bit overkill. Personally never had a problem with backlashes or digging in.
  22. I think a lot of guys were thinking of the regular fluke which is 6". I also forgot to mention to use braid that will also help a ton with hook up percentages even with the 1/0 hooks.
  23. 3/0 skip gap hook is the only non Trokar hook I use and I only use it to fish flukes on. Up size your hook and I think you'll see instant results.
  24. The only thing that I can tell immediately different KVD frog is that it has a couple of rattles in it. I have used it as well as several other brands. I have not noticed any improved "fish catches" over other brands. Personally I typically will use the H2O Xpress model because of cost. It's $2-$3 less and catches just as many fish. As for how to use your frog, if fishing from the bank I'd recommend casting parallel to the bank as shallow as you can. Don't be afraid to throw it on the bank and bring it off. I find I get a lot of hits when I do this. Fish it early and late from 5 feet off the bank and in.
