I am fishing a Oxbow off a main river with thick Hydrilla mingled with large Lilly pads and the occasional stump and Cypress tree. What techniques should I focus on? I am completely at a loss when it comes to fishing Hydrilla. I did have about 5 - 1/2 pounders follow a spro frog all the way back to the boat they where just to small to take it. The water depth is about 3 ft around the hydrilla. The main lake is about 10 ft deep with standing timber I also plan on fishing but have it covered.

I am partial to Academy over Gander in NLR for fishing equipment.

I am pumped to try and fish my Bluegill Mission fish this weekend. Bought some last year in the baitfish color but never got bit..Didnt really like the color though and didnt fish it hard.

Everytime I order from them they send more than I paid for...What a great company. I ordered a couple of missions fish from them and they always send 1 or 2 more. Real nice considering how much they are. If you are looking for weedless swimbaits they are great folks.

Fish it anywhere. Like they said be sure a use Megastrike or vasaline would work in a pinch. I usually fish it from 1 to 3 ft under the surface just outta sight. Slow steady retrive and wham. Just use a sweeping motion to set the hook and as fourbiz told me "water ski them back to the boat". Bass have a habit of getting leverage on this bait and throwing it. I have placed weedless treble hooks on the belly eye to help combat it.

1. Spro frog tree frog green worked across the enitre field of pads and pasued in open holes. 2. Tiki Stick Smoke shad weightless pitched to the edge. 2. Tiki Stik Smoke shad weightless pitched to open Holes 3. Matt Lures baby bass casted along the edge killed and allowed to sink to bottom then slow rolled back to the boat.

There is an idea. A weedgaurd like the one on a jig would work on these lures also. Just maybe upsize the hook. We dont all fish in open water.

Anyone have problems with the hooks dulling very quikly on the baby bass. What can you do to remedy? Seems like if I ge one hung up once on wood the point of the hook is ruined and I do nothing but miss or loose fish after that. Matt figure out a weedless BB and Bluegill...PLEASE.

Thanks for the reply...Beginning to wander. I caught several 5-6 lbers on the matt baby bass and even modified one by cutting the top hook off at the fin and attaching a weedless mustad treble with one point buried in the body on the bottom. Have not had a chance to try it out yet, should work..Very weedless. I have yet to get bit on the mission fish but am going to fish it tonight for at least a couple of hours. I figured that baitfish color would look good at night. I will be using and old plueguer bait cast and 7ft my rod with 20lb p-line hope to get bit on it. Do you turn the hook out any on yours fourbizzel? I am way down south in Arkie land so I might buy some in the baby bass and blue gill pattern next.

Bought a couple of the 6 inch in the baitfish color. I am wanting to know best uses, thechniques, Equip, etc... Also what are what your most productive colors? Love my matt lures baby bass but I needed something more weedless. I kept hanging up around the hardwood trees I fish. If you have any ideas on making it more weedless let me know that also.

Smoke shad.

Hooked 5 last night first time out with the baby bass... 1 5 lber boated the rest came off after tangling me up. One was at least 7 lbs saw it jump out of water. Ordered 3 more today...Had to sharpen that hook after getting it hung up several times and super glue the body around the back hook.. Is there a trick to fishing these around heavy cover and not getting hung quiet as often????? Matt please send mine out asap! Richard S.

How can you mount a transducer on the bottom of these things? They slide all the way up every time you put them up? Can it be done? Mine is an older Auto Pilot without the built in transducer.
