  1. Where are you guys buying aftermarket drag clickers? Are they always custom made, or are there generic kits? Are they decent quality? I've been curious about adding a drag clicker to an old BB1 inshore that I use for bait and wait.
  2. I really dislike the look over overly pitted cork, so I coat mine to prolong the time until that happens.
  3. Where is a stradic on sale for $135?
  4. What shipping method do you usually use when ordering from PLAT?
  5. You should be able to buy the piece. Click Shop, then Spinning Reels, then your reel, then you can select the model of your reel. Scroll through the parts list and add it to your cart.
  6. I think I saw that same video before and was confused by the order he said he tied it. I think they edited the video or his voice over comment was just incorrect. Theres no way to tie a Palomar to the swivel after it's connected to the mainline without wasting a massive amount of leader line.
  7. Do you Megabass rod owners consider P5's durable? I'm intrigued by the Windbuster and found a used one thats close to my budget. I'm worried about not having a warranty to fall back on should an accident happen. I not rough with my gear, but you never know.
  8. Do you have the 7'2 or 7'7? How does it balance with the Vanford? When I was playing with Phenix Feathers, the 7'1 balanced better than the 7'7 to me, but I was using a heavier Stradic FL. Curious how the Maxim balances.
  9. The REEL TEST did a comparison review series on those two reels.
  10. it also looks like they dont have recoil guides like the regular NRX+ rods, so that probably adds to the weight
  11. since the 3 power is available, what techniques do you use or want to use on the 2 and 4 powers? that will probably help narrow it down
  12. i've used magic eraser and water to remove u-40 up to a few days after it "dried"
  13. if you arent married to the ergonomics of the SLX and Curados, I would give the Lews Tournament Pro a shot. I was all Lews until I found out that the new Shimanos fit better in my hand. I would still only use Lews if their reels didnt get slightly wider.
  14. If you can be patient enough, check the ALF used section once or twice a week. They rotate quality used rods and reels out often. I've seen excellent condition x-bites and other megabass rods many times over the last couple years.
  15. Does anyone know if the frame from the Curado 200 DC is identical to the 150, with just a deeper spool? Or is it an overall slightly larger reel? Thanks.
  16. I dont like spinning reels that are too light on longer rods, so you might want to consider your balance preference as well.
  17. If you dont mind used and can be patient, look out for the used sections of ALF and TW. I picked up a Expride 7'2 ML spinning rod for 190ish from TW after Black Friday discount of the clearance section (used items are included in there).
  18. Since those are pretty cheap, I would buy another one and keep the old one around for parts (extra spool for a different line size?) I can clean a baitcaster, but disassembling and reassembling Shimano spinning reels are a headache to me. Gotta keep close attention to where the shims were positioned so you can put it back together and it be smooth again. You can buy a new Nexave for close to the price of getting it professionally serviced.
  19. I'm always curious about this. With all the advancement in materials in the last 10-15 years, do you think current day entry and mid level rods are as good or better than a mid to high end rod from 10 or 15 years ago? Example, original Shimano Crucial vs an SLX of today.
  20. I never made the connection with the name of that rod and the monster bass lake in Mexico. Neat!
  21. Magic eraser really is magic, aint it? It took that U-40 right off. I probably helped that it wasn't totally set. Now I dont know if the cork was previously sealed because it seems like its totally clean and smooth. I guess I get a second go at coating it. Thanks FrnkNsteen.
  22. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try that when I get home tonight. I'm usually pretty OCD when applying U-40, but since it was a used rod I thought I wouldnt care if it wasnt perfect. I didnt take too much care to use a light coat and also didnt spend time to wipe the excess. I noticed it after it dried. The excess is enough to make me annoyed with its appearance. Never gonna do that again.
  23. I picked up a used rod and I couldn't tell if it had sealed cork, so I figured I would take care of it. After cleaning it and applying U-40, it seems it might have had a very light coat because the new coat appears to not have soaked in at all. Anyone have any suggestions on removing the excess U-40?
