  1. I sent an email to ***. Hopefully they'll make it right. I've read that they're customer service is next to none. We'll see. Ultimately that's what matters to me. I can't see purchasing products unseen unless their customer service warrants it. The ball's in their court. I'll keep y'all posted.
  2. Does this qualify as broken? ? No smart assedness intended. The other rod is equally screwed. Both blanks are smashed to pieces.
  3. I came home expecting to find my two new 6gill Lykan rods ready to fish this weekend. Needless to say, upon discovering the package, I was skeptical. What do you think? Should I even open it??
  4. Thanks! I have something to research now! I'm gonna need to, cause I don't know squat, if anything, about the current generation of Pro's. Last time I was into BASS I'd wake up, race to the turn on TNN and watch Larry Nixon kill the competition tossing a worm (again!) or Guido Hibdon would be spanking everyone pitching a tube under docks. Thanks again!
  5. I've had great success with the Alberto! I've read where a lot of guys advocate for 8 wraps up 6 down or some variation of those numbers. I'm not a fan of that many wraps. IME, with small diameter leader (8lb or so) the leader has to be pulled too hard to pull the knot tight which stretches the leader weakening it. With 8lb to 14 lb leader I run five wraps up and four back. (30 - 50lb braid main line). I prefer the smaller knot this creates and haven't seen where it's any weaker or slips at all.
  6. Thanks for posting this! I guess it's a sign that I'm too much of a hermit. I never knew this fantasy fishing thing existed. Sounds pretty fun! How many events are left this year? Is it to late to sign up? Heck, I don't even know who the BASS pro's are anymore. Maybe next year.
  7. I was recently in the Market for a 9" and had narrowed my search down to the Elite ti and Garmin Echomap UHD. I ultimately went with the Garmin unit. I've been completely satisfied with the Garmin but feel I would have been equally satisfied had I chose the Elite ti. Those two units are very comparable.
  8. Right on! Sounds like you've got em' all but tied to a tree ?. Bow opener is 1 wk away here. I'm taking my SIL so I'll be riding shotgun in a two man stand. Hopefully he'll get his first deer.
  9. Thanks for your assistance guys. The Tatula 2500D-XH won the day. This is my first Diawa reel. Now I cant wait for my 6 gill Lykan rod to get here. Any of you guys have experience with the Lykan?
  10. Similar thing happened to Pop and I in a 10' Jon when I was a kid. My Uncle had scored a couple old Johnson Seahorse motors. One for his jon and one for Pops'. The next day we ran out to Fountain Head, stuck both boats in and started up lake. Pop's motors dies and wouldn't start. We tie a rope to my uncle's boat for a tow out to the "honey hole". Well as soon as my Uncle opened up the throttle the front of our boat starts diving like a DT10. We're both hollering with all we've got and thank god my Uncle heard us and stopped. We bailed the water and started going again, this time slower.
  11. Gave up water trapping years ago but it's almost time to wax up the MB 450's and 550's. Season doesn't come in here till the end on November for dry land critters.
  12. Lets hope this year is as good as last!
  13. 100% Having an expensive scope damaged from tightening the rings is a no go. I like using Leupold dovetail bases and a ring lapping kit from brownells is cheap and reusable. Absolutely the most rock solid setup if I do say so. Square those rings, lap them, mount scope, free float that barrel, never have to re-sight ( with a quality scope), rock and roll time!!! Punch em' out!!!
  14. I know what you mean! The old adage " beware of the man with one rifle" applies here.
  15. My primary is a 20+ year old Win Model 70 Black shadow in 7mm Rem Mag shooting 154gr Hornady Interlock handloads. She's not pretty by any means. Looks like she's been carried in the woods for 20years and shot off a few rock piles, because she has. She's a gem though. Wears a Leupold VX3. The trigger has been polished to 3lbs crisp, lugs lapped, barrel lapped, re-crowned, bedded and free floated. Backup is a Ruger compact SS/laminated stock 7mm-08. Accurized just the same. IMO, much too pretty a rifle to take out hunting. But that one has killed a few deer and a bear so far using 140gr Nosler BT handloads. IMO it's close to the ideal bullet for the slower speed of the compacts short barrel.
  16. Have you considered giving a Popeil Pocket Fisherman a try?
  17. 8.3:1 gear ratio, #20 of drag. Lews Tournament Pro LFS.?.?
  18. This year a bat (tangled in my line catfishing), a zebco push button combo, and almost got a Blue Herron on a frog and 65lb. braid. I was fishing a grass choked farm pond and that rascal flew in out of nowhere swooping down to eat my frog. Realizing there isn't a fast enough gear ratio made to outrun him, I commenced to hollering and making as much commotion as possible. About 3ft away from from choking down that frog he/she got the message and veered away. That was a catch and release I'm thrilled to have avoided.
  19. Not a bad looking rod. Winn grip, reel seats nice and solid. Foam butt I'm not a fan of. Guides are nice and clean. We'll see how it performs.
  20. Roger that. Thanks Glenn!
  21. If so I'm glad it's there now. Man if I can't edit comments y'all may think I'm speaking a foreign language. ?
  22. Strange. Now Edit is showing up next to Quote. Must be a conspiracy LOL
  23. Interesting. All I have under my comment is + Quote
  24. Is there an edit function? If so, I can't figure it out. Any assistance is much appreciated.
