  1. I’ve got three small bass in five days of fishing my local ponds. It’s brutal. Our temps have ranged from highs in the low 70s to getting close to freezing in the nights. The temperature swings have shut down pretty much any bite. I did however have a monster that I missed yesterday on a slightly warmer day. Only bite I got and he swiped it close to the bank. I let him have it but nothing on the hook set. At least 5+ lbs...disappointing but I was happy to see a fish show some action. I’ll keep trying but the temperature changes through everything out of whack this time of the year.
  2. I have a small ziplock that I put them in if the original bag isn’t handy. Most of mine are Menace in a variety of colors so no plastics issues.
  3. I’ve been using Seibert swim jigs with Rage Menace on the back. I have three swim jig types from Seibert and none of them work with the grass at my local lake. Hm....
  4. I’ve fished the last three days but nothing. Pretty frustrating.
  5. Running it on top of the grass feels like a tactic outside of winter. I’ll keep that in mind...
  6. Yep, thankful it was a simple solve. Disappointing that Daiwa doesn’t have it oiled out of the box.
  7. I’ve been trying to give swim jigs a try especially as a more finesse technique versus a blades jig in the winter. However, I’m having a terrible time fishing swim jigs near grass. My local ponds have a ton of vegetation and every cast gets covered. My understanding is that swim jigs are great around grass but it hasn’t been my experience at all. Is this user error or are they not great with grass? Are there certain grass types that they are better with? Chatterbaits have little issue with the grass in my pond. I can rip them through when encountered and the blade cleans it off pretty quickly.
  8. I did not....just take the side plate off?
  9. Brand new reel is screeching the first 20-30 feet into a cast. Any idea what’s causing this? Casting distance is very good but this noise is annoying and it can’t be manufactured to sound like this out of the box.
  10. I like the standard size. The baby menace is ok as well. The magnum doesn’t add much of any length and just increases the girth of the Menace. I guess the Magnum is good if you intentionally want more weight and bulk to toss it farther.
  11. Still awaiting BF order...USPS is a black hole from which I do not believe packages can escape. Fun times! ?
  12. In general, the differences become much more marginal at higher price points. I don’t have experience with the Steez stick but I’m sure there is some improvement but Dollar-for-Dollar it’s not going to blow away a $279 AGS Tatula Elite.
  13. Yep, disappointing. Caught way too much grass this AM for it to be worthwhile for my purposes. Brianne in ops has been working through resolving it. Strange that it was two separate shipments and issues on both of them. It’s on USPS.
  14. My fishing online order seems to be lost in the mail. Very disappointing as a first purchase. TW order just arrived...excited to fish a Dark Sleeper for the first time. I’m thinking it will be great in a weedy pond.
  15. I only fish ponds but they vary in pressure. Lately, I’ve caught 90% of my fish on a Jackhammer with Menace trailer. It’s been highly effective over every other bait I’ve tried. I even fished a ned rig a bunch today and didn’t get a bite but caught a 4lber on a JH. I’m catching the last bit of a moving bait bite before the winter...
  16. TW just sent a note that my BF order won’t ship until 12/3. Fishingonline order has already shipped, FWIW.
  17. If the tag slips, then it doesn’t matter if it’s next to nothing or 1/2 inch long tag...the knot integrity is gone and it’s only a matter of time until your leader and bait are going the wrong direction.
  18. Daiwa Revros or Legalis with an Aird-x was what came to mind. Should be able to get for less than $100 total with the BF sales going on. It’ll honestly be nicer than any comparable combo in that price range.
  19. Bought the Daiwa Tatula Elite Howell MH/R 7’4 today on BF to use specially on Chatterbaits. I’m optimistic it will be a great combo with braid. CBs have become my go to baits in the last few months so now I’ll switch my MH/F to jigs and other bottom contact lures.
  20. Got my TW and Fishingonline confirmations within a few minutes of ordering. Daiwa Tatula Elite BC 8.1 and 7’4 Howell MH/R Bladed Jig rod. Daiwa Samurai FC...trying this for the first time. 6-7 new baits. Dark Sleeper and a HyperJerk Finesse are the two I’m most excited for. 300yd 30lb PowerPro v2 Bait monkey bit hard! 122 must be a TW record! ??
  21. Fishingonline appears legit. Considering splitting a rod and reel order to get the extra 10% on a reel. Rod is 20% off.
  22. About to buy either the Daiwa Tatula Elite 7’2 Howell or the 7’4 model. Both are regulars and the same name sake. One is the “universal” and the other is “big top water, Chatterbait, spinner bait” model. I use smaller weights generally so targeting the 7’2. Any watchouts? Already have a 7’0 M/F and 7’4 MH/F. Two BC to close the arsenal are a Heavy jig rod and a moving bait rod.
  23. I wasn’t expecting to fish today but...successful day! Fishing underpasses on a bayou. I caught around 12 and had a few more come off. I would have caught 20+ with a bit more time but Thanksgiving dinner awaits!
  24. Type of jig and forage impacts the other color patterns. For a Swim jig, you will want at least one Shad / white option. Bluegill imitation versus Crawfish can probably be achieved via trailer alone if desired. Want vs Need in a hobby is a fine line. A lot of my wants become needs ?
