  1. I imagine that "first time" is a doozy. you won't even KNOW you're allergic. just going thru life happy and ignorant to the fact that a sting can end you. so scary. I have yet to be stung by a wasp or bee. like I said, I am FAST!! hahah. I would have swam across that lake underwater like Aquaman!!
  2. I think I have owned this blade 4-5 years. I'm an American born Chinese dude, and have watched all my relatives use cleavers. I never-ever liked them and favored the standard chef's knife. I bought it on a whim. I call it my 90% knife since it has really dominated my time since I bought the thing. Chris Kimball and some lady named Dunlop gave this blade their seal of approval and prices skyrocketed. what used to be $40ish..ballooned up to over $100. I found one for $60 in a Los Angelos restaurant supply house that catered to Chinese Restaurants. it is my kitchen powerhouse and really sent a few good chef's knives into a drawer. introducing 90%: (I just sharpened it in the backyard)
  3. 5/16th ish. Maybe.
  4. Those look awesome. Lure weight?
  5. great, just great. now i know what the theme of tonight's nightmare will be about.
  6. i wanted to add something. a few weeks ago a bass threw the hook right when i reached down. the bent rod, thru the treble into my hand like a trebuchet. oddly enough, the hook only went deep to the barb. the barb didnt penetrate. thick skin? dunno. anyways i celebrated my fortune and plucked the hook out and kept fishing. that night, i could feel my heartbeat in the tip of my finger. i looked at it and it was red and swollen. my finger looked the E.T's. fattened on the end. it hurt like the dickens and was hot to the touch. i cleaned it, wrapped it and went to bed. it hurt for a couple of days and it is now fine. the hook hole still hurts if i press on it. NOW? i put a few antiseptic wipes in my PFD pocket. easy access. i will rip open a package and clean the hole. i have a first aid kit in my kayak, and should have stopped fishing to clean the puncture. bare minimum.
  7. maybe dont loan this guy any money. :D. just kidding. my dad died in his 40's, all the men did. so i know the drill. live wild! live fun.
  8. when i was young. i would slug a giant glass of water right before i went to sleep. it would start to tickle at 2:30am and i would wake to pee. this was how i woke myself up on hunting trips.
  9. this story almost broke me out in hives. the fastest i have ever run in my life was from some wasp. i was a blur. and i'm slow!!
  10. i function best if i sleep 8. i do the math and go to bed to get my 8. on the night before fishing, it can be embarrassing. i have gotten 8, but i can muddle along with 6, my neighbor is 94 years old. she once asked, "you sleep so early?" . apparently she notes when my house goes dark.
  11. I wake up early. 4:30 to 5:00 am. I’m in bed by 8:30pm. Ha!

Beautiful wedding venue! You got some awesome weather.
  13. great looking fish. all the hallmarks of how a LMB should look. the distinct colors, etc.
  14. thanks for the peek behind the curtain. very interesting.
  15. i assume the waterways are littered with debris. are the fish lock-jawed? just asking because i dont know, and i am curious. the waterways have to be filled to the top i'm sure.
  16. Not my biggest. But in my opinion, the best proportioned bass of the year. Healthy and fat. Good colors send patterns. Spectacular!
  17. best wishes Mike. question. there is no shortage of water in a hurricane right? i prep (kinda) for earthquakes. i have a water purifyer. it is a hand pump filter. i have a hand pump water filter as well. but the Purifyer is next level. way bigger and not really suited for backpacking and such. i keep it for earthquakes. just in case. would something like that work for hurricanes? you could hand pump out of anything with water. i cant imagine the mad dash for bottle water in your area. must be wild.
  18. yup. most of my fish pics are stop action images from my goPro. i catch a lot of fish in mid lift, where they may be at a steep angle. haha.. but i catch mostly dinks.
  19. this. this is what all my spinnings (2500) carry. no issues. my ocean 3000 reel has 20 PowerPro i think.
  20. i'm on the other side of the country and i do realize the news tends to blow up situations for affect. so i wont pretend to know what is going on. if it is bad..i hope you all skate thru this with ease. i've never been in a hurricane.
  21. NOT including the myriad of Dobyns rods i have had the factory replace (for a fee)...there is one. my Phenix Maxim Spinning. i immediatly bought a new one when i sank mine into deep wintery waters. not expensive at all, but i love the thing. and it isnt even good looking. but dang, have i caught a lot of bass on that rod.
  22. i've been guilty of the 45deg thing. i know better now. it bothers me, but i am pretty silent about it.
  23. this lake. there is one motor. it is on a tiny Boston Waler the life guard putter around in. and they Putter. idling around the lake telling people to wear PFD, etc. the ladies are (the truth) dressed like Baywatch Lifeguards!! red one-piece swim suits. my buddy keeps taking his PFD off just so the lady comes and talks to him. hahah..
  24. this thing came out of this lake. (supposedly) :D. hey, a guy can dream, right? http://www.worldrecordbassfishing.com/images/duclos.jpg
  25. i have a 50T in my rotation. mine is carbon steel, so it will rust. but it is looking nicely patina'd
