Drought is really bad here
that sucks. we are ahead of you all about a few years. I used to frequent a few forums where people just weren't sympathetic to California. I would get statements like, "you choose to live in a desert..." I would grimace and stay polite. I want perfect Cinderella-rain (not too much, not too little, but just right) for everybody!!! when I retire, I am moving outta here to find a wetter climate. just for my sanity. I dont care if all I have is trout fishing.

Lure suggestions
Jig. I just find in general a jig weeds out the dinks. well, maybe not a finesse jig on Lake Sonoma. dink-ville.

Help me make a decision
its no secret i am a kayak person. i love mine. i feel the only limiting factor on my kayak is ME. it can do any body of water i am comfortable with. even the Pacific Ocean. i kinda feel the pond prowler is just that. for ponds!! hell, it is in the name. without knowing your local waters or comfort level on the water, i cant answer. i would get bored only fishing ponds. kayaks do well in big waters. at least mine does. i think for me, i have a 12' length minimum. it just helps with speed and stability. with an 8" truck bed, that is low hanging fruit. you wont even need a bed extender.

Feeling a bit defeated (skunked twice in a row)
Where in California? I find I’m being more selective in which lake o visit. W gas being where it’s at, I gotta fish better waters. abd I throw everything.

Brag about your state's bass fishing.
Hot bed? Hardly. But it’s warm bed. I love my choices. Lots of bodies of water. Different bass species. Great year round weather.

eating Oatmeal.
Crème of wheat? Dang it’s been decades for me. Just looked. There is no fiber in it.

Grilled bacon wrapped walleye...
in general, I dont wrap anything with bacon. I just never understood it. bacon flavor is so dominating. maybe jalapeño poppers since they play equal parts...but I dont love them either.

eating Oatmeal.
my wife eats it savory. I cook it neutral, and I add my tiny bit of real maple syrup and she takes her bowl and treats it more like an Asian rice porridge. she eats it with tiny bits of pickles and savory things. meats and such. it has to be a billion times healthier than a big bowl of (white) rice porridge.

What do you do best?
I'm pretty good at baiting. you could call me a "Master ba...". ahhh..too easy

Name the baits..
right before I lose all hope my Hail Mary is this. 1/8 bullet weight, a 1/0 worm hook, and a TRD finesse in Green pumpkin. it is my "oh Lord, please let me not skunk1" presentation to put at least one darn fish in the kayak. I can't count how many times that thing has saved my frail fishing ego. hahhaha..

Recommend a drop shot rod
my drop shot rod is the Med 7'3" Phenix Maxim. I love that thing, and it is always with me. super sensitive to me, since sometimes a drop shot bite is just the tiniest perceivable "tick". plus, nobody thinks about it much..on a drop shot rod, it is kinda important where the manufacturer puts the bait keeper hook. on the Phenix it is in the perfect location for me. I clip the sinker there and the hook and bait are still outside of my rod sleeve. BOOM so much fun. if I lost it, and I have..I would buy another one immediately. it does sink kinda fast.

you are looking for a multi-tasker! that is a wide range of needs. drawing a blank.

Megabass Triza ( Help pick a few )
gah..I am hoping to get one soon. I want to fly with a travel rod as carry on. my days of long rod tubes (as checked luggage) are behind me. the Ageha, and the Stym Palides should cover all my needs. I hope. I do wish I could find more real world experience/reviews besides the ones put out by the guys hawking the stuff. my uses are Oklahoma Stripers and Hybrid bass. my trip to visit my buddy in Cambodia, and even the Amazon River.. my airplane trips. stuff I am not driving to.

Name the baits..
anytime, any lake? nope. I have my lead off batters but sometimes they strike out ugly.

eating Oatmeal.
its the fiber. its why beans are so much fun. I find even tho it is gruel for breakfast. it helps to chew it up somewhat before sending it down. same with beans.

$200 Reels
that fish is 26"? how big are your feet?! I really want to catch a hybrid. I heard they fight like freight trains. a white bass is a blast of explosive energy but it putters out fairly quickly. I am currently researching a peacock bass fish in the Amazon. the first person I contacted suggested a MH rod with a 2500 series spinning reel. all for 20lb peacock!!! the screaming drag will be dang exciting. none of my Texoma catches left me feeling outgunned. I went in imagining a "battle Royale". nope. "battle regular".
