  1. How are they deformed?
  2. Senko, tube, and popper should keep you busy if you want to keep it simple. Wacky rig the senko and throw up stream and let it float down stream. I love green pumpkin as an all around but another color/bait I’ve found to work very well is the zman zinkerz (senko style bait) in the hot craw color
  3. Just about everything Zman makes. Love being able to change plastics and not tear them up taking them off the hook - and catch dozens of fish on one bait. Love the buoyancy too. Awesome baits and right from my hometown. Been fishing them for years before they seemed to really take off
  4. Hopefully others chime in because I don’t have a lot of experience with drop shots but when I’ve done it it’s been with a medium power rod and light braid to a flouro leader. I’ve had no issues detecting a bite on this setup. If you’re going to use that rod, switching to braid or flouro might help with bite detection compared to the mono. I havent heard of someone using a Heavy power rod but that’s not to say it can’t be done (and again, I’m not super experienced in this technique).
  5. I haven’t, but when I was in highschool my buddy and I were out in my jon boat and he proceeded to throw the anchor out in about 10ft. We both just watched as the loop on the end of the anchor rope went over the side - he forgot to tie it off. I didn’t make him do it but he jumped in and got it back
  6. Great information and good to know, thanks!
  7. Actually it’s a Shimano Intenza MH. That’s good information though, I think I just might order a couple sizes of spinnerbaits to test and figure out what works I guess. I know I could do that from the get go just wondering if there was a rule of thumb so to speak for spinnerbait weights
  8. Yet another question for the BR brain trust...so I have a MH rod rated for 1/4-3/4 oz lures. I’m wanting to get into spinnerbaits and chatterbaits this year and was planning on going with 1/2oz for both of these but just saw another thread talking about actual weights and it sounds like the spinnerbait weight is measured mainly by the lead on it. So it doesn’t include all the hardware. This makes me worry it would overpower the rod. I also assume it’s similar for the chatterbaits. I feel like I’ve heard the most about 1/2oz spinnerbaits so that’s what I was going to get but should I go down to 3/8? Should I get a stouter rod?
  9. Sounds good, thanks a lot! I’ll definitely wait a little now and see if I can catch a sale Good to know, at this point the Bass X is out of the question after reading these replies. Ill look a bit and see if i can find a Sierra cheaper than what TW has right now. Thanks again
  10. That’s a great question and I should have clarified. I meant more of something along the lines of like a ktech 4.3ish on like a flashy swimmer style hook. That’d probably be as big as I would go. The baby bullshad interests me as its only 1/2oz if I remember correctly. Thank you very much for that response, I think you’ve got me leaning to the Intenza then. I appreciate all the insight and ill have to check out the Muse rods you mentioned too
  11. I made another thread about rods a few weeks back but am now looking to buy and wanting a few more opinions. I’d like to keep the setup under 300 as I’m not sure how much use it’ll get yet. Looking to get a new MH setup for throwing spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and small swim baits. Reels - I was originally mainly looking at the curado 200k but am wondering how the SLX XT would be for this? Rods - I’ve seen a ton about the Dobyns Fury. I was also curious about the St. Croix Bass X or the Shimano Intenza? Also open to other suggestions. I’ve been a big shimano guy over the years but that’s all been spinning gear for saltwater applications so the casting rods and such I'm not familiar with. I would love to be able to go somewhere and try handling these in a store but I’d probably spend 7 hours or more of driving to do so. Thanks for reading and I appreciate any responses.
  12. Looking to get something bigger than my current setups (4 medium rods, Lol) to throw bigger lures. I’m thinking chatterbaits, spinner baits, and smaller swim baits (like a keitech 4.8 or baby bull shad kind of thing). I understand it may be best to have different rods for that but right now just looking for one setup as I might not use it as much as my others. Thinking a curado 200k (if this is not a good reel for this kind of setup let me know!) and a MH rod? I’m more interested in power and action right now but I’ll always listen to suggestions for a brand and model too. Thanks!
  13. Ha, that’s a bummer. I might have to reach out to you sometime, although I do have a ton of new baits to try out this year as it is!
  14. Commenting to get updates. I’ve never thrown one and not sure what they are intended for.
  15. Interesting, didn’t think about that. Can’t say I noticed in my short experience with them. still, for $8 might have to grab a couple more to try out this spring
  16. Thanks for the input fellas. And I should have clarified in my original post but I wasn’t necessarily worried about fish not wanting it because it was missing an eye but it just seemed “cheap” but maybe thats just me. and @DitchPanda, let me know if you’re up this way when the waters open and want to try to do some fishing
  17. Wondering what people’s opinions of these jerkbaits are? I haven’t seen them really mentioned from what I’ve read on here. I bought one last year but hardly fished it. Hooks are sticky sharp but in the one outing I used it, it lost one of the glued on eyes. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. Just curious what other people’s opinions are of them.
  18. Geez, after reading some of the TW reviews and your post it sounds like it’s a strong magnet. I would have taken it out to cast first before posting but everything is frozen (as you probably know @OkobojiEagle).
  19. Just received a Rerange 110 from TW. I took it out of the package and cannot get the weight transfer system to move. It stays in the forward position when I shake it and try to make it move. It says on the back of the packaging it slides “effortlessly” so seems odd. I can get the transfer system on my Vision 110s to move easily so just wondering if this is normal or what?
  20. Are there any decent mapping apps out there? I know of Navionics but was wondering if there’s any free apps out there for saving pins and seeing contours and such.
  21. Just to be clear, like a translucent whiteish?
  22. Thanks! I’ve got a few clown colored jerkbaits from a few brands but I can honestly say I’ve never caught anything but pike on them! Thanks! And definitely know about fire tiger but I feel like I’ve been seeing more lately about these other (newer) colors so was wondering if I was missing out on something
  23. When it comes to jerkbaits for smallmouth, what’s yalls favorite “bright” color? Any other honorable mentions?
