This thread is making me think that I should stick with my Abu Garcia Black Max. I like the reel very much, especially for a 40$ reel. Mine only birds-nests because I am still perfecting my casting technique.

I am a bank fisherman, and these are the things that annoy me. 1. The limited range you can fish. 2. The amount of line and trash that other careless fisherman leave behind. 3. When there is tons and tons of goose poop when I'm trying to get to my spot. These things just make me mad. That's why I want a boat when I'm older, or I wade with my waders.

I live in Michigan, so it may be different, but the other day, I caught 1 fish on a jerkbait. Then I switched to my light pole with a small red tube. The fish were pretty small, but I caught about 7! So it definitely works.

When the bite gets tough, I like to switch to my 7'0 light-action pole and catch some smaller fish and bluegills, so I go ultralight.

Hello! I do not know how to catch river smallies consistantly, although I have some ideas, like 4 inch senkos, ned rigs, and small jerkbaits like the one I caught my first Sauger on. My PB smallie is like 0.75, and I hope to catch a bigger one soon. I caught that on a 3.8 Keitech on a Gamakatsu Alien Head jig, so is there and suggestions for lures? Thanks. My birthday is 5 days away, so if I get a gift card, I can get some smallie lures.

The only Smallie fishing I do is in the Kalamazoo River, and since my pb Smallie is like 0.75 pounds, then I don't have a say in this. But I'm guessing since Smallies like cold water, then yes, the bite would probably be better.

Michigan says the same thing in our legislature, and I signed the petition a while ago. It would help to let fishing be available to anglers everywhere, even if they are in different states.

I only use inline spinners like a gold-blade black and yellow Panther Martin for Trout fishing, never tried it for bass. But the Trout, especially in the winter, eat them up!

I thought that this was a Walleye, but it is actually either a sauger or a saugeye when @Bluebasser86 told me in other species latest catch thread.

I actually use 10 pound power pro braid with a 6 pound seaguar red label, but that is because my Brown Trout creek is full of snags and I use spinners. But I have tried some Trilene, and it seems pretty good to me. I have no experience with Yo-Zuri hybrid.

It may feel pretty sad, but it happens. A few Bass and my 1st Trout ever sadly died after I caught, and the Trout died because I didn't know Trout were so fragile. But it happens.

I've caught some decent fish in that creek with my waders, including the fish in my profile pic! And I need to start fishing Limekiln now that the water is clear of ice. If there is still a big bass there, it would have to live with the tons of carp in that lake.

Yes Kalamazoo has a lake that produced a 10 pounder and a 9 pounder. It was in the 90's though, but maybe it still has some big fish in it! And if my memory is correct, Limekiln lake is right in my Grandma's condo system! Ikr, that is what the guy in Limekiln Lake caught it on

My grandpa has an old Civil-War era officer's sword. I think that it is pretty cool! It's pretty dull though because it is hanging on his wall. And he gave me a vintage knife from my grandma's dad. It's around a 1930's folding knife. I need to sharpen it before I use it for cutting stuff like heavy braid.

I don't use Spinnerbaits or any topwater lures. Even my Whopper Plopper isn't used.

Hmm I did not know that Saugers or Saugeyes lived in the Kalamazoo River. Either way though, it's a new species for me!

I have to admit, I really like Michigan fishing. You can catch everything here, from Smallmouth Bass to Muskies to Steelhead! The winters aren't the best, but in Southern Michigan, I fish for Brown Trout in my local stream. It never really freezes, and the Trout still bite! So my vote is Michigan. But for largies, places like Texas or Florida are good.
