Megabass Sleeper Gill
My local shop got a shipment few weeks ago and I bought 3 different colours. First one broke off on a cast! ??? Now I'm scared to use it lol, I have one to my dad so now I'm down to 1. Ive yet to have a bite from it but I for no real reason have more confidence in this then the dark sleeper. The dark sleeper actually makes me mad cause I watch all these people catching smallies like crazy with the dark sleeper and I've never got a nibble in 2 years. The Gilly tho, it's a nice size and the colours are wicked. If you got bass earring bluegill or pumpkin seeds then you show really give this one a go! My concern is how hard they are to get, the cost of them and how durable will they be after a few fish.

2 baits I've been blown away by....
Hey y'all, Been fishing alot these past couple weeks. I'm up in southern Ontario Canada so bass season has only been open for a few weeks now but I've used a couple baits that have just blown me away so I thought I'd share. 1) the new Bobby's perfect frog. I have the scum, the megabass, the gavacho, Terminator you name it I think I have it. But this Bobby's perfect frog is on another level. I don't do anything to it other then trim the legs and it's phenomenal. Works anywhere and everywhere. Walks like a dream and so far is super durable. I really can't see needing anything else. I don't even bother worrying about a popper. Mainly cause I rarely fish a frog in open water. But man I cant tell you how good this frog is. 2) roboworm fat straight tail worm in oxblood red flake. I put this on a drop shot rig and holy crap literally everything eats it. Crappy, bluegill, perch, smallmouth and largemouth. It just straight out catches em! When nothing else worked, this produced. Highly recommend.

Heavier Weight Frog
Not sure it's going to meet your weight requirements but I'd strongly recommend the new Bobby's perfect. It's actually perfect. I have the gavacho, the scum, etc... I have been so impressed with the Bobby's perfect I havent been able to take it off. And I don't do anything to it out of the package. It's not as soft as the scum frog but it's still ultra soft compared to anything else. It walks insanely good, and I can bomb it a mile! I've caught 20+ fish on it now and it's still almost like I just took it out of the package! If you want heavy heavy without going oversized and ARE NOT fishing over matts and slop then that Bully Wa 2 size 65 also great! Plastic is not as soft but you can toss it forever away and it also walks like a dream! My sneaky other fav is the Terminator. It comes in a slightly smaller size but still a 1/2 oz or heavier I can't remember. In the bluegill colour it's lights out good.

Tatula Elite 100XS
Sorry, I'm still trying to understand a few replies in this thread but I'm not a physics major so I got lost! Anyways to your question I double checked and the line does go OVER the bar so sounds like it's setup properly! To others who have suggested it's my casting style, I think you nailed it on the head. I went out yesterday and boy was it windy too. I was casting maybe not into the wind but also definitely not with the wind at all and only had one backlash happen and that was because I did what you all said not too do. I tried to reach a specific pocket that was basically at the end of my cast range and with the wind I really tried to huck the sucker and that's when I got the backlash. Other then that I had no troubles cause I really focused on a consistent, smooth cast and finished pointing the rod at my intended target. When I did this, it was ultra smooth casting and I truly realized how easily and far this reel casts with such little force. It was quite eye opening to be honest. If only it had a slightly bigger spool!

Tatula Elite 100XS
Maybe I have put too much into my casts, I'll try a smoother motion. I also feel like upon retrieval it's not putting enough tension on the line so what ends up on the spool isn't tight enough that on my next cast I run into problems. But I'll start with my casting power and go from there.

Tatula Elite 100XS
So I got this reel this a couple months ago. I have it as my frog reel, with 65lb braid. My question is why am I getting so many backlashes? I have 4 other Shimano baitcasters and I honestly rarely backlash on those but man do I ever get some good ones on this Diawa. Have I over spooled it with line? Does braid have memory? Brakes? Spool tension? I've had the same frog tied on now for weeks, weight stays the same. Wind I will honestly account to maybe a handful of them but it happens even on flat calm trips. My gut is telling me it's the line, as I've got some really nasty ones that I've been able to pick out but I feel like it's left a kink on the line. Not sure what's going on but it's frustrating enough for me to have to post this. My first Diawa reel, and I love everything about it but these backlashes are trying my patience!!

New expride and Daiwa reel - frog combo review
Nice! I must say I don't ever night fish but I did also want to try flipping a big jig on a deep weed line with this combo so I may try your swim jig tip too!

New expride and Daiwa reel - frog combo review
Some of you may have seen my previous post about getting a new frog rod. Well I picked up the new expride in 7'3 XH, paired it with the Daiwa Elite reel. My first impressions were, hot dam this thing is pretty, bass season opened only 2 weeks ago so I've only got to use it a handful of times yet but I've managed a 4lber on a frog and this rod let me tell you, unreal. I can't believe how light it is yet how strong it is. The reel is an interesting one. I bought the diawa cause I've never owned anything other then an SLX baitcaster. My first opinion of the Diawa is I love the size, it feels good in my hand and also feels like it's made pretty well. I don't love the spool size, for frogging anyways it's a bit small especially cause of the big braid. All that being said bottom line I do actually really like the reel but I think I'd have to still give it to Shimano, it's taken awhile to figure out the best settings for me personally but with the SLX it's just so easy to pickup and go. That being said this Elite reel I can almost cast the spool empty, it's insane how far I can toss a frog on this combo! All in all I'm so happy with it all. Can't say enough good things about the Expride. Once I've recovered financially from this purchase I can't wait to try and find another Expride!

Trolling motor battery died - replacement recommendations?
Well we ended up picking up 2 31 group deep cycle AGM batteries and man what a difference. Unfortunately we don't have anything that can tell me exactly how much battery we used per trip but I've ran it 3 times now. When we got back it seems like we've only used 20-30% of life, and it also charges so quick. Super happy with them, but I will say they are pretty large and quite heavy. We just couldn't take the plunge to lithium yet. Maybe on our next boat! Anyways thanks for everyone's help, I'm so happy with the AGM's I have 100% confidence I could be out all day and not take it down below 50% Oh hey does anyone know some type of product I could buy that tells me exactly how much battery I've used?

Trolling motor battery died - replacement recommendations?
Still having a hard time finding a good battery here near the Toronto area. Anyone got any suggestions??

Trolling motor battery died - replacement recommendations?
But hooking them in parallel won't give me the 24volts I need tho right? I'd need to hook both 12 volts in series to get my 24 volts correct?

Trailer jack grease question
Hey all, So I've just got my first boat last year, well my dad and I so we are new to owning a boat and thus maintenance. It's a 16 foot aluminum Crestline. I think it's a 92 or older. Our question is we want to re lube the front jack on the trailer. We popped the top and inside it looks like a black with a hint of blue grease. We bought a tube of "marine grease" which happens to be white. We are wondering if we can mix the two lines or do we have to use the same line or even worse do we need to fully remove the old grease before adding the new? Hopefully you can understand my question. Thank Greg

What T Rig bait for this area
Even for LM? My lake doesn't have SM in it, and not sure if it makes a difference but water depth is 4 ft to 2 inches maybe.

What T Rig bait for this area
Sup y'all So I live on a river, but it's basically at the mouth of the lake. I'm right at the first bend from the main lake down into the river and it gets almost completely overgrown on the banks of either side with Lilly's, milfoil and other vegetation. Right now I can probably get away with a 3/8 to a 1/4 ounce weight but in a month I'll need close to a 1 ounce to get thru. My question is what bait would you throw on a Texas rig in this area. It's not quite punching lots of docks and loads of cover. I was hoping to use a worm but now I'm second guessing myself. Let the suggestions fly!

Flipping and Pitching in Northern Michigan
Todd castledine (I think is how you spell his last name. ) He also has a great video on YT about flipping a big jig in summer in the grass (grass can mean literally any type of vegetation) I myself am just learning this style.of fishing and not too too far from you. So I feel like we will have the same type of weather / grass. People have already given you basically the info you need, all that's left for you to do is get out there and do it! For what it's worth, me personally I bought a few 1oz jigs, trailer I'm going to use is the rage bug. And to truly understand the concept and technique to this I'm going to basically bring just this setup out for a day, put the trolling motor down and just go to work. I know if I go with all my rods the moment I start to loose confidence in this technique I'll give up. So by bringing just this setup with me and dedicating a day or whatever to doing this style.of fishing I'm hoping to cut the learning curve down some and more importantly get comfortable doing it and gain the confidence in it! Good luck!

My Casting Reel Dilemma
Shop elsewhere for what you truly want. I work hard for my money and so I'm not going to let any retailer decide how I spend it.

What lure(s) have you struggled with and did it finally workout for you? I’m
The dam Ned rig. I think I just hate the idea of it so I don't really try with it and then after 2 casts without a bite I immediately deem it to be ineffective lol. Oh also the dark sleeper. All I hear is how amazing this thing is for smallies and I tried so hard last year and I've yet to get a bite.

Bladed Jigs vs. Swim Jigs : When To Select Each ?
Loads of useful info on here, hope you got your question answered! Sneaky little tip, notice how a few people have said they rarely throw a swimjig, or that the CB is used more. If I hear these things on my body if water or see guys throwing a bladed jig I'll use the swimjig even if it's more of a CB kinda deal. The reason.... Because it's different and not what everyone else is throwing. Don't underestimate the power of being different out on the water! Just my 2 cents ?

Chatterbaits
Lots of good advice here, good luck! The first response has a great link to a YT video so you can see for yourself what your working with! For what it's worth I started fishing a CB last year. I bought a couple green pumpkin jackhammers and a pack of Yamamoto Zako's. I figured why make my head spin trying out all the different plastics that could be used as a trailer. Instead I just went for one that was specifically made for the CB and learned to fish the bait properly. This summer I plan to start messing around with other trailers.

Good glasses for small heads
Just wondering if anyone else out there can recommend a good pair of sunglasses for us people who have small heads/faces. I find I end up looking like a hornet and I can almost put a entire hand between the lens and my face on 99.9% of sunglasses out there. I've even bought kids glasses before. But when it comes to fishing specific sunglasses there's even less options. Ive only used cheap $20 glasses from anywhere I can find them. Recommendations?

New to bass fishing. Looking for lures to start with
Wacky rig senko would be my first thought, then a ned rig, finesse jig, maybe a drop shot or a Shakey head. Also stay off the fish as best you can and make as long of a cast as you can PAST the fish and work it back thru. No cover and clear water means there gonna see you pretty easily

Sweet beaver as a jig trailer
Banditio bug and rip off all other flappers except the main big ones

Left trailers on my jigs over the winter..... Keep or toss?
So Im just starting to get myself ready for the new season. Just got a a reup on some jigs so I started there. Looks like I left a couple CB with the trailer on em. Would you keep those or throw em out? Here's how mine were stored. They look pretty straight. I can't really see any kinks or anything.

Anyone buy a house on the lake? Fish more?
Cause of covid my fiancee and I lost our jobs so unfortunately we had to move in with her mother. Oh did I mention she has an enormous house on a lake? ? I've never lived on water before and yes it's alot of work to upkeep and living that close to water does add some unwanted issues with dampness/bugs etc... But being able to walk out on the dock every morning and evening to throw a line for 5 mins or 2 hours is unbelievable.
