  1. Is a Scorpion 70/71 for 2021 on the horizon? I hope so.
  2. I use the Sierra 702 SF for large shad raps and flicker shads, I find it more forgiving than the 703SF when it comes to trebles.
  3. Gen 2 Abu Revo Winch, I needed a lefty cranking reel and there was not much available in lefty cranking. The reel started grinding pretty quickly, and it was noisy right from the start. I sent it back to Abu and they sent me a new one that was not much better , I sold it and picked up a Lew BB1L 5:1:1 and have been very happy with it. Now, I'm using a Bantam PG for most of my cranking needs and could not be happier. As far as rods go, I picked up a Scott Martin TCS medium casting rod, as soon as I picked it up, It was tip heavy, it was described as a " 40-ton carbon, ultra sensitive blank construction" but it felt more like a heavy fiberglass rod to me, I sent it back for a Dobyns Champion 703c, it was definitely an upgrade.
  4. +1 on the Catalina, but if your willing to leave Daiwa, I just picked up a Curado 201PG(5:1). It's a great caster, super smooth and in my opinion, much more comfortable to palm/grip as opposed to the Catalina.
  5. Alumacraft seems to have discontinued making riveted jons as well. Marathon boat group located in central New York is still producing and so is Meyers boat company and I think Lowe has advertised a 2021 line up of jon boats as well. I have a few Alumacraft 1436Ls. I use them on lakes where motors are prohibited, they are solid jon boats, 14ft in length, 55 inch beams. .53 aluminum and they weigh 135 lbs. I hope they bring them back , but it doesn't look likely. Look on craigslist , you should find a decent jon boat there. Good luck.
  6. Works well for Neko rig as well. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/G7_Worm_Tube_Pliers/descpage-G7WTP.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Arsenal_Fishing_Neko-Wacky_Tube_Plier/descpage-ANWTBPL.html
  7. Hello Everyone, U.S. Postal Service just dropped off a Curado K 71 HG this morning. The ergonomics are great, palms well and is super comfortable. Feels very smooth from playing with it so far. Has anyone heard any news/info in regards to Shimano producing the Scorpion version of this reel?
  8. I use a Dobyns Extreme DX742 for blade baits , I like it for 1/2oz -3/4oz blades. The rod transmits the vibration of the blade fairly well, which really allows for me to understand what the fish are tuned into for the day.
  9. I just received a EX172MHA expride. The tube showed up in great shape, so I thought I was good, last couple of tubes arrived broken with damaged rods. Upon inspection of the guides, I found a crack under the bottom guide(first above the handle). I rubbed my finger against it and some epoxy chipped off. Is it nothing to worry about? Should I take it to get repaired at a local tackle shop? Should I fish with it and see what happens or contact Shimano? Any advice/recommendations is appreciated. Photos attached, I hope I sized them correctly.
  10. Speaking of the Banjo minnow. I found this on you tube, it's kind of interesting to look back at the gimmick lures of the past.
  11. I find the Berkley PowerBait power swimmer has very similar qualities as the keiteich. Fish USA has them on sale now. https://www.fishusa.com/Berkley-PowerBait-Power-Swimmer?quantity=1&L-Size1=476&L-Color1=16252&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIh8yGpZqA7gIVkL3ACh1kQgolEAQYAyABEgIRK_D_BwE
  12. Golden Oak and Natural wood filler from Elmers has brought a few cork handles back from the dead for me. Sand them down afterwards and the apply u40. I recently pick up Cadillac cork sealer. I sealed a rod handle with it and I think I like it better than u40, it seems to stain the cork a little deeper in color and give it a little more of a tacky feel as opposed to the u40. At first , I thought it was too dark, but as time goes on the darker color has really gown on me.
  13. I'm often fishing lakes with rocky bottoms, if I don't make contact with the bottom, I don't get as many strikes, the abrazx has taken a good amount of abuse and held up well in regards to abrasion resistance. It seems like the invizx is popular from what I'm reading, Defier and Defier Armilo seem really interesting as well, I think I will pick u a spool of each to try out and get feel for them on the water, thanks for all the input, it's appreciated.
  14. Hi Everyone, I have been using seaguar abrazx 10lb test for my cranking needs for a few years now and have been happy with it. I have noticed the price has increased recently, I was thinking about trying something different as an alternative, I have heard good thing about sunline assassin. Anyone use abrazx for cranking and know of another fluorocarbon with similar qualities ? or any recommendations?Any info is appreciated.
  15. The tournament pro lfs is very impressive, I find myself constantly reaching for it when I'm fishing, it's very smooth and super comfortable to palm.

Hello Everyone, Been Bass fishing my whole life all over the tri state area, I'm currently situated in Connecticut and am looking forward to learning and participating in the forum. John
  17. I had a lot of success with the the Curve 55 this year , at first I thought it was on the small side for bass, but smallmouth and largemouth reacted positively to it. I also had quite a bit of success with title shot jigs.
