  1. Did horrible here last summer too, its just the only open water right now that I know how to access. Have you had any luck there in the past?
  2. Went down to the cape today with the kayak for a day on the water. Launched at Flax at about 11:30am, beautiful blue skies and about 10mph wind. Tried a whole lot of everything (including a BPS blade bait) but got skunked again. Thinking I probably wont be going back there.
  3. There's a bunch of stuff for sale on Berkley's website, some stuff marked down about 50%.
  4. I didn't, lost the couple I had last outing. Will have to pick up some more to try next time. I keep hearing good things about them just never gained the confidence to stock up. Now thats what i'm talking about! Nice one! Where'd you find the open water?
  5. She's a beaut Jig! Took the kayak down to Cliff today, water temp is about 35-36 degrees. Spent about 6 hours on the water looking for some type of structure or drop off but man that place is featureless with very gradual slopes and lots of the shoreline is still locked up with ice. Threw a 5/8oz jig dragging it as slow as possible, I think I felt a few rocks the whole day, seems to be all sand/mud. Committed a good hour to throwing the Vision 110+1 and came up empty. No bites on the 3" paddletail swimbait either. Tried a dropshot, small crankbait, big crankbait, deeper diving jerkbait, swing head with white z-craw jr, and even a ned for a bit. Ended the day with zero bites. Dang it was hard out there today.?
  6. Found some open water in Nickerson today, threw a small jerkbait, ned rig, and finesse jig for an hour from shore. Couple bites on the ned but nothing hooked up, maybe a perch or some panfish? Contemplating heading back tomorrow with the kayak, see if I can't put something together offshore.
  7. I've been itching to get out there, count me in!
  8. Heck yeah! congrats on the new boat. Heck yeah! congrats on the new boat.
  9. On google maps street view you can see the website justforfishing on the bottom of the sign for Tampa Fishing Outfitters. Not uncommon for multiple retail sites to operate from one physical address.
  10. Found some open water on the south end of Sabbatia. Threw a wacky rigged senko, paddlebait, and dragged a craw real slow but no takers. Itching to head over to the cape to look for more water. @Don51 i've had decent luck with bass over at Little as well, got a few largies there back in late December when Billington was iced up.
  11. Yup same thing happened to me recently with a Lews Mach 1 spinning outfit I got for my nephew for his 1st rod/reel. Feels VERY well balanced at just above the reel and not nearly as heavy as the Mach 2 counterpart. Gotta go back and grab another one for myself as a backup.
  12. Sounds similar to my last trip out on the kayak, started in plymouth at Little Pond looking for open water then kept heading toward the cape. Ended up finding open water at Ashumet Pond but this was a couple weeks ago before the cold snap. Been itching to get back out and find an open water bass this month.
  13. A boater safety course is something I've been looking into. Recently got my 1st boat and here in MA no certification is required. However if i want to go fishing in NH, CT, or VT I'd need a certification to operate my boat there. I wonder are the online tests good for all states that require a certification?
  14. 4 rods in the crate holders and 2 in the built in holders. I'll usually use all 6 of them too, it seems i'm always junk fishing trying to figure out what the bass want where when and why.
  15. Grabbed a couple *** Cypress rods last summer during one of their BOGO sales. Wish i'd never heard of em, its like fishing with broomsticks, heavy ones at that. Bought 2 MH fast rods and they feel like heavy fast/extra fast, arent built on the spine, and had epoxy on a couple guide rings.
  16. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I'll check out that thread for sure, thanks Dogbone.
  17. Hi everyone, been lurking for a bit figured its time to come say hi. My name is Rick and I recently moved to south coast area Massachusetts from closer to Boston. A small pond behind my new place reignited my love for fishing, so I started beating banks then got a kayak when the summer came. Then spent the summer, fall, and winter fishing and learning about this massive new world of bass fishing that I found here and on youtube. Hope to see some of you locals out there this year, its going to be a great one. Tight lines
